A note on the Unreal ANimation part. Using an Anim Montage is not a requirement. It's just what people say to do most often. You can use blueprint to force it to play one or the other. In your case it sounds like missed checkbox or improper setting somewhere
I think you can just put your texture image into the emission channel (as well as the albedo channel), then you don't need to make multiple emission materials. (The UV map will be used for both images automatically.)
