Thanks a lot bro, this is the best advice anyone has given me on the CFA
Very concise overview of the cfa!
THE best first VIDEO EVER!
Very useful great video!
I just started learning more about CFA and I found your videos very useful
Learnt more in 12 minutes than I would learn in any class room!👍🏽
Happy it was useful!
Really nice video! Thanks!
Thanks, you’re welcome!
pretty much helpful!
Very useful information. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure
Tip number 4: Master the Financial Calculator
I wish I saw your video earlier! I just finished Level 1 Exam and thought it was extremely difficult. Praying I passed. I like your tips about the exam prep providers will definitely try them out next time I take a CFA exam (hopefully level 2!)
Hope you pass and good luck with the next level!
Heyy buddy hope you pass the exam, i am giving level 1 in feb 2024
This came in my explore page and I was highly intrigued and I assumed it was a big RUclipsr because of the high quality thumbnail and video, you really deserve to have more than a million subscribers, hope to see you reach there soon!!
That is very kind of you - I appreciate you!
@@HaarisZamir No problems do continue to inspire and educate us with your content! Looking forward to watching more of your videos
I hope the pass rates of cfa exam also increase by the time you reach 1M subscriber it will be hard to watch half a million candidates failing😅
Very useful content
Thanks brother. Nice no b$ to the point video. Much appreciated.
Hey Haaris, I recently passed L3 and just wanted to let you know that all your tips are extremely relevant and I totally agree with using IFT + MM. I did the same and found them superior to all the 'brand name' prep providers.
I’m glad you agree - well done for passing!
Did you only get the IFT high-yield notes or did you also get the lecture notes?
@@Aaron-gz6td I got the lecture notes because I didn't find MM's powerpoint slides thorough enough
How time taken to complete each level??
@@Aaron-gz6tdlecture notes come with the MM package but didn’t use them, bought IFT separately
Haaris, I'm so glad I came across this helpful video , I'm speechless wow. Perfectly executed strategy, the idea that you tell us when to study and how much time to give each exam, which notes ,etc is all amazing ! tysm! I'm also going with Mark Meldrum for level 1. How do you see the strategy changing for 2024 exam takers given the new changes ?
Hey Timothy, glad you found it useful! Re 2024, I'm not super clued up about the detail, however I understand there has been a transition to learning modules (which should be more digestible + less overwhelming) and a change (particularly at L1) to newer, more relevant topics / use case (e.g. geopolitics, use of spreadsheets etc). Sounds to me like they've made it more relevant and digestible on the whole, which is a good thing! Good luck, you're in good hands with MM
Thanks for the response, I look to your videos as motivation! :) @@HaarisZamir
Very good share. Just studying in the morning is a big no no to me. Waking up in the morning is the second hardest thing in my life.
Hahaha I feel your pain!
Great video brother! Very insightful. I only have one last question regarding the IFT High Yield Notes / Videos. Would you use that part once you're only a few weeks away from the actual exam, and have the need to quickly go through everything for a second time or would you already use it right at the beginning? Many thanks in advance.
Yes exactly that - perfect way to review the material!
Hi Harris! Thank you for the excelent content and info provided. For Level 1, using the Market Meldrum video lectures + the IFT notes, I don’t need to read through the information on the CFA pdf curriculum? I mean reading all the chapters. For instance, I could go through the lecture videos, then the review notes, then mock exams, and only if I don’t understand a topic read more from the CFA curriculum chapters just to understand the information. I mean this level 1 since it is more based on practicing the questions
That's more than enough yes!
Hello, great video. I trust you can give sound advice given your pass scores:
What can you suggest to me given that I did not pass the Lv1 first try and second try.
Second try I changed how I studied: (i) I gave myself more hours and (ii) and incorporated MM and significantly increased my understanding of the content. Yet still not pass (mocks were 55%-60%). What would you do different?
My own self reflection is I did not memorize enough formulas for fixed income and derivatives and eq. Any suggestions, would help. Thank you!
I am so inpatient on passing I am seeing if I do something radically different next time like paying for live lessons.
Okay two observations: i) how many practice questions did you do from the question bank? They’re very representative of the real exam, and there’s c3000 - do as many as you can. You need to target 70-80% in the mocks; ii) ask your yourself why something is the way it is (ie don’t just memorise, step back and ask how this formula or fact ties into the whole topic). You need to understand from 1st principles. Formulas do matter, as do definitions. Check out IFT worlds level 1 notes (they’re free) for good summaries - good luck
Hi Haaris!
Thank you so much for the information. Your video is golden. May I ask why you chose MM video instead of IFT video?
Thanks I appreciate the feedback! Tbh, I picked him because I like his humour and enjoy his lectures. I used IFT videos at Level 1, which were also good, but more factual vs enjoyable if ygm. Depends on your style. If you prefer the latter and are debating cost, you can use my discount code 'haaris' for 10% off all IFT materials. Your call - good luck!
Extremely usefull talk for those who are fighting for the best of the future they would love to get to.i can confidently say here mr Harris Zamir you have an unbelievable confidence as u said first timer passed.blwss you.
I appreciate you!
Hey Haaris. Can you share your insight regarding the CFAI Portal mocks for level 2? What was your average score in them and how do they compare with the actual exam?
Hey - so I can’t recall my exact average score, but I’d say it was around 75 - 80%, but bare in mind I didn’t answer them all from the top of my head (I referenced my notes where necessary, which is what I’d recommend). The portal question are definitely harder than the real exam in the sense they’re less direct / test for understanding rather than exam readiness. The real exam questions are more direct (clearer what they’re asking for + less info to read). Hope that helps
Very insightful exam techniques, can you do a video on investment tips?
Great suggestion! I most certainly will
Good very nice massege
Hello Harris. Congratulations on your charter. I’m a little confused. Are you recommending that we read the IFT notes in addition to the CFA curriculum books or just the IFT notes and the MM videos for level 3? Thanks!
Nope no need to use the CFA curriculum unless you need to do a deep dive on a specific topic - IFT notes suffice, alongside MM lectures. Good luck
Thanks for the great advice and tips. Is the high yield notes provided by ITF?
Yes but currently not separately - I am working on getting a link for that, I'll get back to you soon!

Hey Haaris,
Thanks for the valuable video,
Im retrying L2, but need a new strategy and yours interested me a lot. How do go through the material and questions, did you watch MM video, take some notes along the side withing his provided notes, then read the IFT notes as a reinforcement? What about questions after each reading, EOC reading (from CFA textbook) or more Qbanks for faster 1st overview?
Thanks a lot!
Hey, so yes broadly what you’ve described is what I did. I’d watch MM lectures intently (to understand, not to write down), and have the IFT notes there, annotating wherever MM provided additional context etc. I’d work through the whole curriculum, then for the most complex materials, I’d watch the full lectures again and for the simpler stuff, straight to reviews. I’d also watch seminars at this point for more complex material (you don’t need to watch them all). Questions wise, I didn’t attempt any until the second review, but that’s up you - some people like to reinforce their understanding straight away with EoC / Q-bank questions, which is a decent strategy too. Overall, start higher level, then drill deeper / do questions / watch reviews. Good luck
thanks so much for your reply, @@HaarisZamir have
Hello Haaris, I got a doubt
I want to appear for Level 2 in Aug 2024. Access Scholarship window will open on 24th Jan however early registration deadline is on 23rd Jan.
So my question is that if I apply for scholarship, can I use it for Aug 24. Or if I am not awarded the scholarship, can I register at early registration fees.
I’m sorry I’m not sure how the scholarships work
Amazing advice, thanks a lot.
I'm planning to give my exam's in 2025, but mark meldrum stll isn't selling the courses for 2025. How long should I wait for the new course from MM? Please tell me
I'd wait until they're ready - he always leaves plenty of time. Good luck
Hey was wondering why you recommended IFT notes over Mark Meldrum's lecture notes?
Far more comprehensive and well structured - MM's are more like brief powerpoint slides, don't feel they're thorough enough
Cool how do you think the IFT notes compare to Kaplan's Schweser Notes? or do you not have any experience with Kaplan?@@HaarisZamir
Hi Haaris, I bought the full access for MM for L1 and he does gives notes. Do you still recommend to buy IFT notes?
Hmm, I didn’t like MM’s notes tbh, far too brief. IFT much more comprehensive (but still concise compared to curriculum) and easy to follow. Depends if you have the cash - worthy investment in my opinion
Hi Harris, just wanted to hear your thoughts with regards to the review videos on MM. He’s removed them for the most part going forward due to the change in the curriculum
Interesting - you mean he no longer does them as part of the package? Or are you referring to historic review videos?
@@HaarisZamir due to the change to learning modules as opposed to readings, he now just does a regular video because they’re much shorter in nature. not sure if changes anything from a study approach but would love your feedback
Heyy Haaris, I am appearing for this feb 2024 level 1 exam, just a little nervous to appear for exams, and scared about forgetting things, i would be happy to have some suggestions from you
Hey, level 1 isn't too bad don't worry. Questions are direct, lots of recall and define, simple calculations. If you're worried, I'd recommend buying the high yield notes from IFT World - they're around $100 (last time I checked) and cover the majority of what you need to know for the exam. Well worth it. Good luck
Thanks for the info! I wanted to know if it is possible to prepare for the CFA exam without joining any institute for tutoring?? I mean if one is committed to self study can he/she do it without spending money on tutors?
You do not have to sign up to a formal prep provider, but you will need to access the books at the very least. I’m not sure how much the books alone cost but check Kaplan. Tutors definitely help focus your attention on the most testable material though
if you sign up for any CFA exam ($1000 per level plus $300 initial charge), all the content is available at no additional charge on CFA institute's Learning Eco System. They provide links to download the textbooks as PDFs but they are also in the LES. There are mock exams on there too. Some people have passed the exams from just using the CFAI LES and not relying on third-party prep-providers.
hi! while doing mocks should we still be referring to the notes?
I probably wouldn’t reference them during timed mocks, as they’re supposed to be for the last week or so before the exam, at which point you should hopefully know the curriculum quite well. Make the mistakes then go back and check curriculum.
No problem referring to curriculum during practice Qs.
Hello , in mark classess does he teach us how to use calculator?
Nope
Where to find q-bank on the cfai website?? ( Is it the LES practice questions??)
Pls help.
It’s in the practice section
@@HaarisZamir okay thanks man
Any advice on the mock exams? CFA Institute mock exams are locked and need an extra $300 to unlock. Great video
Sorry do you mean to unlock the mocks? Or how to do the mocks?
How did spend your last week before exam for lev 1? What was your approach?
At this point I wouldn't do any detailed reviews of curriculum, instead focus on review videos / summary notes, and mainly do questions. For L1, the practice Qs are quite representative of real exam, so if you do lots of practice you'll be in a good place. Roughly 5 days before exam, do the mocks. Then note down what you struggled with, and review that. Last 2 days before exam no mocks, slow down the pace and review the concepts you struggle with most, then rest. I have a CFA L1 advice vid coming soon.
Thanks this helps!

Is university degree a prerequisite to getting the certificate?
Nope but you do need to have at least 3 years of experience in a relevant field to complete the charter, but that can be done in tandem with your studies

You can indeed - just have to buy the materials and good to go. You just can’t become a member until you complete all exams + have 3 years relevant experience

daily motivation Haaris I make summary of my prep provider I am a college student I can give 4 hrs a day since I dont have any experience in this industry as i am just 19 i take time to retain concepts how ever I can give more than 4 hrs but it is extremly heavy when it comes to derivatives and I kind of need to review everyday what I did in that week so I dont forget any strategy where I dont need to review so much?Level 1 candidate
and I belong to a country where there is less aWARNESS ABOUT DERIVATIVE MARKET SO ANY RUclipsR TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS QUICKLY?
Don't worry so much about derivatives at level 1 - it isn't a big part of the curriculum and takes time to really grasp. You'll do a lot more at Level 2 and 3, and then it'll make sense
How long it took you to prepare for each level while working full time?
Roughly 300 hours at L1 and L3, more for L2. I have a full video coming out on this soon
Hey you have studies ethics right? You should be aware of the rule that you cannot use CFA beside your name its against the cfa institute ethics
Sorry why not? I have completed the exams, paid my membership and have relevant experience.

You can actually do the charter in a lot less than 3-5 years! The exams these days are administered a lot more often. If i pass my level 3 next year it will have been in less than 18 months! CFA is not only cheaper than masters but also quicker.
Agreed if you’re super committed anything is possible!
