    Hi Angie .. thank you so much for your tutorial on wood veneer. You are easy to follow and understand with concise instructions and a pleasant voice. Great video and tips! I'm new to the Circuit family and of course my first big project is going to be using Walnut veneer. It sounds simple enough but you are the first one who has mentioned where to put the dial setting on the Explorer Air 2. That's pretty important for someone like me "a newbie" LOL! I ran vinyl on cardstock because no one told me me to change it in my instructions and I forgot the last thing I did was a cardstock project. Thanks again for sharing! I'll be back for more tips.

    Great video!! If nothing else convinced me to get a Maker 3, this did. Q: in traditional marquetry, you use 2 different pieces of veneer stacked and taped to get the same cuts through both pieces, and combine the pieces like a puzzle. Do you think the maker is accurate enough that you could cut each of the two pieces separately and then combine them?

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  3 года назад

      First, I would say be sure to flip your mat over when removing so your pieces don't curl as much. Second, it may be the glue. Try a good quality wood glue and I weighted mine down as they dried. I like Gorilla Glue.

    Could you show how to do it on the computer ?

  • @klinglerjr
    @klinglerjr 4 года назад +2

    It looked to be a bit of a pain to get that veneer off the strong grip mat. Since you used painter's tape around the edges, do you think you could get away with a medium grip mat, especially if the designs weren't so intricate?
    Also, do you have any feel for how long the blades will last when doing this? I have a relatively new Maker, only a couple of weeks old, and my standard blade already seems to be requiring replacement, and all I've cut with it are fabrics and paper.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  4 года назад +3

      I am thinking a new green mat would work. If yours is really worn it may not.
      Second, did you cut fabric and paper with the same blade? The paper probably dulled it for use with fabric. Just like having a pair of scissors you only use for fabric, the same goes for Cricut blades. My blades always last a REALLY long time even with cutting designs like this one.
