"I've never seen a dead body over the 20 years I've been at the foundation"
- Least amnestesized foundation researcher
Well, he said he's "never seen a man die in 20 years." That's a little different from only seeing a corpse.
I've seen dead bodies before as well but I've never seen anyone die in person.
But still, it's weird he's never seen anyone die as a Foundation employee. 😅
@@Shythalia both work with the point of my comment funnily enough

Given that he wouldn't remember seeing dead bodies after being amnestesized...
Oh my god, the breakdown?? The stifled sobs?? The screaming?? The defeat and despair sinking into his voice at the end?? I genuinely felt a little uncomfortable listening to it because it felt so real. Scary as shit. Your voice acting is phenomenal.
I hit that part right after reading this and it didn't subtract from it whatsoever.
I had to double check that my audio wasn't too loud because the breakdown sounded THAT REAL. I was genuinely concerned that somebody was going to think I was having some kind of emotional breakdown because I was playing this too loud.

I have to say, listening to this while driving on a highway was more anxiety inducing than I expected lol
"this highway is very congested and longer than I remember.."
Hope you packed some gear...
SAME! Lol
That was a dumb idea
I feel that. Read the one about the one-way train ticket some years back while on a train. That wa also an experience.
I love how the author takes the actual frustration and anger of being stuck in traffic and made a horrific world out of it. Definitely one of the best SCP articles out there.
Wow, the voice acting on this one was next level.
There was a car commercial halfway through. Kia "whatever your next adventure, kia will take you there". Have to love the advertising algorithms sense of humor.
I don't think you've ever voice acted one of these better. Holy crap. The story was absolutely phenomenal, horrifying and heart-wrenching, too. I look forward to your future videos.
My thoughts exactly, this is 100% his best work. It truly takes talent sell a convincing cough and a hopeless sob. I mean that wasnt just a cough, you could feel him struggling, you could feel how thick and choking the smog was. You could feel how distraught he was.
Unbelievable.
Did the story more than justice, my Aussie friend!
I completely agree. We all know Volgun is amazing but god damnit this was next level. I’m blown away.
I just couldn't stop thinking how good the Voice acting was. The best I think I've heard period.
I thought I heard some Costanza in there
It's true, this is an incredible achievement.
Reminds me of a inverse of that one SCP where you just drive on for miles peacefully until you reach that city where people are stacked on eachother in buildings until you're dead peacefully.
Whow that sounds interesting! What's the scp number?
@@civilizedmonkey1795 SCP 5322, 'and the road stretches on'. Exploring Series did a great narrated version -
Okay trying not to spoil the premise but basically it's a long, nearly never ending stretch of road, with lots of houses and buildings throughout. Nothing malicious initially, full of people who Just got stuck there, drove as far as they wanted, and then stopped, chose to stay in a diner or a farm or a little home. Read or listen to the rest! I'm a trucker who listens to your videos while driving. Messed me up good. I've had this exact situation in my head a couple times before after 14hrs of driving
Wow, this was a depressing thrill ride. An unending ride down an endless road with a man whos hope to see his family keeps him moving despite all the horror he witnesses. When the recording device came back on after weeks of being non-responsive...shivers.
Almost makes me think at that point in the story he became just another body and vehicle on the road and whoever else had killed their way to the same point as him was still just trying to move forward and survive just a little bit longer than the person in front of them.
God this is just so incredibly written, enough details to give you a perfectly clear picture but enough ambiguity to come up with your own metaphors and interpretations. The hallmark of a perfectly written SCP.
@@friendlyelites i like to think that the tunnel at the end brings ya back to the start which would explain why all lanes was full at the start

@@TitaniumRobotSeacowI saw it as a sort of grinder that goes downward into pitch black horror and devastation. Days of suffering with the hope of escaping, ending with pointless, brutal death
This should be adapted into a movie script, the slow burn and decent into madness is so good here. This is everything I needed today. Thank you Volgun for covering this one and props to the author.
I could almost "see" this one through the narration alone. You're right about the pacing, it's just begging for a short film adaptation to pop up on some obscure channel.

Maybe not a feature-length film (Unless you could snag a really, really good director) but this would make a godly short film.

great voice actor, but tbh not the best. This is good for just reading the page, but I enjoy The Exploring Series for breaking things down a bit more
@@thesun5275 oh I love the exploring series as well. But I prefer having the stories laid out in a more narrative way
Both are amazing in their own style
I didn't know there were other SCP authors out there.
@@JoeL-yq1ivhe's not the author of the scp's
I've seen a few infinite SCPs, but the infinite traffic jam/highway is definitely one of the more horrifying.
Yeah, what's terrifying is that the highway never stopped getting its victims than the IKEA because of it's uncontainable nature and the cars/vehicles that enters the realm always piles up and rises in numbers. it picked drivers (along with the passangers) from the highway systems all across the country randommly and no one even knows what's going on.
this was actually so emotional. the line delivery the atmosphere every thing about this was just great. i also like the messages you can get out of this. like car pollution, car inefficiently and the fact that if you could walk it would be fast but you cant walk cause of the cars, there's Prity much nothing off the sides of the road ether. this is a very well put together scp entry and reminds me a lot of the never ending road and its symbolism( forgot what number it was).
Yeah life would be a lot easier for a lot of people if we had walkable cities like they do in some countries
Do you, by chance, mean SCP-5322?
Man, Exploring's video on 5322 was so well done.
@@loveableheathen7441 I mean you could walk 450 km between major cities but sure lmao

Really liked this one. It's like a darker version of that Dr Who episode where people live forever on this underground highway
Glad I’m not the only one that still thinks about that episode.

Yeah, it reminds me of “Gridlock” too!
I had a nightmare about that episode 🗿
i give this a 9/10 Needs more giant faces 😂❤
This is the first new SCP I've encountered in a long time that actually feels like an SCP. I've been a fan since coming across 173 while looking through creepypastas and this really captured what originally made this medium great.
My first exposure to SCPs was Reagan cut up while talking. I was maybe 13 years, the dark, paranormal, and incomprehensible nature of it all the while I wasn't sure if it was real or not as I was young and the internet was new to me. As if I stumbled onto the dark web and got on a shadow organizations database.
Damn... that's... not a happy ending...
Absolutely stunning performance Volgun, you're a legend
Throughout the video I was hoping for a happy ending, but I think the story is better without it. Very dark though
It sort of reminds me of the Magnus Archives where these anomalous events are tied to inspiring a particular emotion rather than an intent of causing direct harm.
Yeah I was really reminded the Magnus Archives episodes were someone gets transported to one of the Fears domains like the infinitely large suburbs or the infinite meat packing plant
Yeah, it really feels like something you'd find in the archives indeed
What are the Magnus archives
@@TiredWeeb An audio drama series very similar in feeling to the SCP. It is very good, even though I personally didn't think the last season was that great (thats just preference though.
I was also thinking about how lots of the SCP articles - especially the ones where people are transported to other places - feel like Magnus Archives episodes. The infinite IKEA is like a hilariously dark version of a Vast portal... only you don't escape, no matter how much of an anchor you have.
Magnus Archives is definitely a lot more light-hearted in the sense that they don't vividly describe a lot of the horrors, and very rarely do they actually mention people dying. It's very "show don't tell" horror, whereas SCPs are horrific _because_ of the level of detail they go into.
Wow... Just wow. I was driving on the freeway the other day and it went from 6 lanes to 2 because of roadwork. The panic and helpless feeling i had because it was taking an hour to go what normally takes 5 minutes was palpable. This really was the most extreme version of that day for me and i really felt for him. Great stuff
Definitely one of the most tragic SCP entries. Just the story of a loving father just trying to return home, pure and simple. The writing is so good, but again the voice acting really sold it even more for me! Excellent work June L and Volgun!
Shows how actually awful certain SCPs are along with the back rooms
Probably the closest to tears i have ever been listening to one of these....
What a beautifully written tragic survival story.. and MY GOD the VA CHOPS WERE ON FULL DISPLAY... touched every single emotion and was so damn human!
This was probably the best reading you’ve done. I’ve watched every single one but this tops it. The writing? Exquisite. The voice acting? Exquisite. You killed it bro fr.
Bro, Kudos on that voice acting. It is a skill you've honed like a keen blade.... Thats it, Volgun's voice is an SCP.... someone write that down!
This is why SCPs are so fascinating. Something mundane with a twist of the bizarre to make it genuinely unsettling. Incredible production and voice work from Volgun, as always! Keep up the great work, you're my favorite by many miles!
It’s genuinely disheartening as the story goes on and all light almost literally fades out of battaglia.
Really good story and narration.
A fate worse than death tbh. This was a rough one. FANTASTIC voice acting.
Coming from The Exploring Series, it's nice to finally break away from World/Foundation loreal explore SCPs like this one. The SCPs that brought about more questions then answers.
I would love it of this SCP was explored even more. I think it completely warrants MTF exploration if even possible.
The scariest part of this SCP though it that it seems random. There is no indication based on current Foundation records that state how one enters this dimension except through random chance. But the worst is once you do, there is no way out.
Really well written.
Well, MTF are valuable. If they can find a way to enter this one reliably it’d probably be best to send in some D class first to determine if there’s even a way out
The voice acting on this one was superb! Good goddamn job, Volgun. 👍🏾
The voice acting this episode is just too good. The passion I feel is more than that of a simple paycheck. With SCPs that have a focus on logs you NEED passion to truly deliver; and truly deliver the Volgun has.
There’s something delightful about following a channel for years and watching them slowly get better. Keep up the dope work my dude!
This voice actor needs an award bro actually went into the scp and recorded that
Unquestionably the best voice acting iv ever heard you do. Easily your best work. You really captured and sold lead researchers mental state. Incredible 👏 👏
That Acting was insane! I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best VA I've ever heard in a YT Video. Have been watching you for some time now but your line delivery in this vid was more than phenomenal!
This was amazing. You really nailed the voice acting on this one. The story is also amazing. It shows the human side of the foundation employees that we don't often see. All in all, 10/10
I've always loved your audio engineering, but just the pure emotion in your acting in this video was incredible! You're the best at this in the community by far. A banger as always
This one was very unsettling and I’ve been bingeing these for a long time. Just the idea of some innocent guy being stuck in traffic with a bunch of other innocent people. No monsters, no supernatural. Just pure hell. Just some innocent guy documenting his hellish experience. Really creeped me out
This has got to be some of the most immersive voice acting I've ever heard. Made the SCP all the more horrific. Outstanding
I love SCPs like this that have no origin. They just exist.
🎵 Anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold;
And, it's always summer; they'll never get cold;
They wander the highway;
They're happier there today... 🎵
This has to be one of the wildest and most depressing one I've heard yet. The voice acting was absolutely haunting.
Time to devote nearly an hour to top quality content
Absolutely astounding voice acting and sound effect composition. I will say, it is surprising that there wouldn't be enough supplies going around unless that was by design by the anomaly. The amount of food, water, and fuel transported by truck on such a wide freeway would presumably result in more than enough supplies to go around if traffic distribution was the same as in ordinary freeway traffic. Helps add to the spookiness of it as it made it seem like there was an extranormal lack of life supporting supplies being transported in the anomaly.
nah they made a desert bus MMO
made the mistake of listening to this on my drive to work. quietly sobbed to myself when i got to the parking lot
This is the first one of these that's made feel something in years of listening, thank you Volgun for more than commendable voice acting. It's impressive the level of unmatched talent you bring.
If im ever recommending the Volgun to anyone, this might be the video I tell them to watch; yet, at the same time I don't think I will. This video is so amazing, but it weighs heavy and It would feel like such a waste to have them be so depressed afterwards.
This story could serve as an existentialist allegory for life in modern society, especially at the bottom; scraping by with limited/unsure resources, one bad event away from disaster, don’t know if there’s an end or a point, building anxiety.
I also feel like it's good social commentary on urbanization and car dependency
As someone from North Carolina, let me tell you, extreme congestion on I-85 is not anomalous at all lmao
Didn't realize you used Midjourney for this one; thought it was your own render work, was wondering why the faces came out so good, ha! They're really good for generating horrific/eldritch themes, disturbingly so. Hope you keep at your own render work, but I can see how this'd help you do larger scale stuff faster. Just don't trust that AI, you've read enough SCP stuff to know better than that! o_o
This is a great use of AI generated art
The hands don’t come out that well though
it was pretty convicimg until a hatchback with 6 doors came on the screen
i realized a bit into it, the images only really partially match what's actually happening. no clue what's with the guy with the black veins on his face lmao.
Your voice acting is getting seriously good, at times I forget that it's a youtube scp-video I was listening too and it felt like a radio theatre or the audio of a movie with professional actors. There are many ways a youtuber can excel in creating their videos, but doing solid voice acting is surprisingly rare, probably because it's so difficult. Well done!
ah, my favourite part is always the one where the implications get ten times more dire than all the bad stuff before put together, after which there's the longest time gap between logs... but there's more or one more logs
You acting was *so good* in this one! I actually got frightened a few times just because of how convincing your expressions and intonations were! A whole new level for SCP readings, as far as I'm concerned. Keep up the excellent work!
Jesus christ a phenomenal reading of this scp. Was literally listening to this after being stuck in traffic for over an hour and this sent chills down my spine. Breath taking performance
As someone who takes the highway home for the holidays on a bus, I can imagine sleeping for the first hour only to wake up in this horrific nightmare.
Red Reality is the only piece of fiction that ever really has made me feel fear...like my life was in danger. This had echoes of that.
Just saw this one recently. Extremly anxiety inducing. And great choice as always!
This was so well written and acted on another scale. This was by far your best video in my opinion. The acting was fucking next level.
Dude, seriously, that sobbing, you're a goddamn great VA.
This video actually gave me a nightmare after watching it which really caught me off guard since that doesn’t happen often. This was truly one of your greatest performances to date and it absolutely chilled me to my core.
This was eerie to listen to, knowing the highways hes talking about makes it so much worse 💀
I really enjoyed the great quality of the voice acting, the improvised laughs and other bits really add to the immersion. Thank you for giving me this after-work present
the heat, smell, smog and fire, torture and time... this scp was a highway to hell... a literal highway to hell that breaks you mentally as it gets worse and gives you some hope before tearing it all away and breaking your mind and soul... well done
This might have been the best video I've listened to in weeks. Absolutely top tier narration. And the way I was rooting for the guy so much, where the author intentionally was vague about his fate right up until the end? Amazing. Plus lots of metaphors and deep meaning, which is cool.
I choose to believe Battaglia got out after this, a la Silent Hill, and just went home without telling ANYBODY at the Foundation because he ain't ever going back there.
Damn man you had me in tears with that acting, I could feel the character's pure despairing emotions. Phenomenal work.
you are the powerhouse of voice acting volgun.
The "twist" that Battaglia's surprise for Shaun was a baby sister and that his wife had been cheating on him makes this all the more gut wrenching.
I'd made my peace with the idea he was never escaping so early on in the document, but the author managed to deliver an emotional gut punch so much more vicious than anything I could have anticipated. Bravo

I know i'm late but this is hell, or some sort of purgatory. Driven by sin, anger, and such, all these people are just here. This anomaly leads you into thinking you are out but aren't, so it keeps leading you into deep layers. That massive "man-made" tunnel at the end is definitely some sort of tease or taunting method for the people who see it. Basically, whatever's causing this, is toying with these people. I actually felt dread at the end, it made me feel genuinely sad.

This is one of my favorite scps and i think a lot of it has to be the way this was delivered. I truly dont know if i would find this as compelling as just text but fuck me the VA going on from the incline to the plateau and then hitting traffic again is so perfect and distressing
perfect for a hours-long trip back home. thanks man
I’ve been really impressed by your performances before, but your work here is so believeable and real. Incredible work, some of those coughs sounded genuinely painful.
That was horrifying. Your performance was tear wretching 😭
This hits harder when you have a father whose no longer here, work most of his life for you.
And doesn't help when one of my brothers is named Sean
Before the Richard Battaglia interview even gets started properly, I already think it’s hilarious that a foundation researcher who’s stuck in traffic has to explain that, no, he isn’t just impatient. These cars really are spooky ghost cars, could you pretty please come send the MTF to get me out of this traffic jam.
