Just mesmerising! I discovered Talvin Singh's music when I was 14 and got my hands on a student tabla set. Here I am at the age of 27 and I've been playing ever since, everyday for at least 4 hours. I play fusion tabla mashed up with western vibes but someday soon I'll produce my own beats.
Just got back from a Talvin Singh gig, with tabla and a reverb consisting of a speaker and microphone in an airfield hangar a couple of hundred metres away. I cam home feeling refreshed by the pure sound of the tabla and the simplicity of an acoustic performance with the particular reverb system, I feel inspired to make sounds without too much sophistication but exquisite sounds.
Talvin as ever, a gentle unassuming inspiration to my heart, thank you so much. A perfect closing message, creating perfect probabilities. Pieces to peace.
Love the demo Talvin and thank you for sharing the composition process and showing the skill and art behind playing this amazing instrument known as the tabla . I enjoyed tyour compositions With massive attack and Bjork back in the 90s which still sound so fresh. Thanks I will show this clip to my kids .
If you have not listened to the album, 'OK', by Talvin Singh before, you are doing yourself an incredible disservice, this album was not only recorded all over the world in multiple studios and on remote locations, it also won the Mercury music award, I was in high school when it was released and I waited outside of a Blockbuster Music to get a copy of it the day it was released, one of the most creative and imaginative albums ever to come out of the 1990's in electronic music, if you haven't heard it before, please check it out, the entire album in its entirety is also available to be streamed for free here on RUclips.
thats a western innovation of the Sitar and to be honest the Guitar is not even in the same league as the Sitar. Nor the Piano in the same league as the Harmonium, neither is the violin in the same league as the Sarangi.
