I heard one woman’s trick was to use a separate email address just for stores online and then when she needed a specific thing she would check that email to see if she had any coupons for the item she needed
I'm 53 and it took me forever to learn how to budget. I'd hear things like "pay yourself first" and that made no sense. I'm grateful for the Ramsey systems and especially for you, Rachel, for breaking it down in a way that has helped me to stay out of debt for years now. I know I have to allot myself an allowance and when the spending money is gone it's gone but I do not pay myself first. I still don't know what that's supposed to mean. I pay my responsibilities first, I pay my savings and sinking accounts seconds and I can spend the rest. It's not rocket science but it took me over twenty years to figure that out.
Pay yourself first is about putting a certain percent of your wages in investments. You are building wealth. Some people, if they don’t do this, can end up spending this ‘extra’ money on ‘wants’.
The wisest thing that should be on every wise individual's list is to invest in different stream of income and don't depend on the government to bring in money especially now the pandemic is hitting the economy
Yes. Online shopping is my overspend. I’ve learned to put it in my cart and leave it a few days (they even send me discounts when I do that). But when I wait I usually do not order. 😃
We found local farmers to get half a cow and pig every year. Saves so much per pound and he is organic farmer. Plus meal planning saves tons of money and time. My mother taught me well.
So glad after going through the baby steps- none of these gimmicks get me anymore- but I once did! I don't want anything interfering with my budget. My budget plans for all my future spending.
I overspend on restaurants and life insurance. I also overspent 1 month on clothing when I bought a watch I really liked. I am concerned that we are headed towards a more subscription based economy as businesses are constantly looking for ways to increase their revenue and subscriptions seem like the next logical move and I DO NOT like subscriptions. I would rather pay once and be done.
The add to cart strategy (3:15) is a really good one. Sometimes online retailers will send you a coupon if you leave stuff in your cart for more than 24 hours to incentivize buying. I’ve saved a lot of money on bigger purchases by getting 5-25% off because I’ve left items in my cart the next day. They were necessary items and not just impulse buys so I was going to buy them sale or not, but might as well save when I can.
Great video and very relatable! Thank you. I find i spend less with click and collect ( curb side pick up) groceries as I’m not tempted by my I store impulse buying which I always do 🤦🏼♀️
A big tip for groceries, don't shop on an empty stomach. It will be hard to stick to a list if you are hungry and you see the ice cream or candy bar by the checkout stand.
Thanks for sharing this information with us! I love your channel, I think you do a great job in front of the camera. You share valuable information in a conversational style.
Hi Rachel, You are absolutely rigt about these buy no pay laters schemes. P.s. I started unsubscribing from those emails 9 months ago because I would receive certain companies emailing me 3 times a day with count downs of sales. Now on reflection of your video I have realised it was actually a money saving step.
Thank you Rachel, I have been listening to tour dads you tube videos for so long and just subscribed to your channel. I love your content, thank you, I needed to know this!
Thank you Rachel for sharing this episode to those who are concerned ❤️ I have no credit cards and not a fan of shopping tho but will share this to my friends 😂
@@brdn-official Yes, but this particular sweater really compliments her skin tone and hair color. Plus, with the medium-wash jeans, it really adds to her look.
I love the every dollar app! I’m still shuffling money from one place to another when something comes up or I overspend a category. But I’m learning where all my money goes and where I can reduce spending/over spending. Or even increase the necessary categories if I consistently spend more than I planned. It gives a nice visual of hoe every dollar is allotted so I’m not wondering if ther will be more month than money, and Ican actually see which category has to give up some dollars if I overspent another one.
Girl set up a spam email. That way u still get the coupons for when u want to buy something but don't have to see it. And make sire your phone notifications are turned off for that email. And for Amazon, I put everything in my list instead of my cart. Then my favs r there but I don't have to buy it.
I find it amazing that she can still stay motivated to save money when they dont have to. I am naturally frugal. But i think if i was a millionaire, i would go ahead and buy the name brand cheese.
I have my DC memorized too. Eek. 😬 And adding stuff to my cart I call my online window shopping. I do this a lot with Amazon where I'll put it in my cart. Wait a couple days and then add the items to my "Save for Later" list. A lot of times, I'll end up keeping them there or deleting them completely.
I canceled mine, since I don't use the amazon music or movies. And, I don't need stuff the next day. If you sign up for subscription and save, the items ships free. If you keep stuff in your cart until it's over $25, it ships free.
So true about the minimum purchase to get free shipping. If you return anything and pay for shipping, you won't get that back so I do end up buying something extra to get the free shipping- in case of a return. --- After pay is horrible.... I would not recommend it to anyone.. Don't get into debt!
Or just be an active investor and plan to spend money later, and keep telling yourself later! It becomes a bad habit for me that i keep saying later i will buy but keep investing instead.
The miscellaneous always killed me for forecasting. Now I enter non-routine purchases into my budget live so I see when I have to cutoff these miscellaneous expenses or push them to next paycheck.
**thumbprint approval for your cards stored in Google pay 😱 sooooo much easier. I have to force myself to stop, I use the fingerprint symbol as a reminder that my fingerprints will be alllll over that decision lol
Girl if u can help it, DO NOT SHOP AT SAMS OR COSCO. ugh I got a super good deal on a membership. I have a big family so thought it would help me save. Well no I spent SO MUCH! It's like a candy shop for adults. Just don't do it if u r trying to save money! Lol

you are definitely right , waiting on the government is a big waste
Investments are the stepping Stones to success especially if you been guided by a professional
Investing is good but investing in the right thing is the actual key to success . who is your pro ?
That was exactly what I did, I trade with a professional stock expert "VIVIAN KLAINE MORGAN " who i met in one of the seminars..
There are so many investment out there but if profits must be considered then not all investments are good to go into.

You can't overspend if you don't have any money (or credit card)
I agree with Honey Nut Cheerios. Everything else I buy is just fine in generic.
Great video and very relatable! Thank you. I find i spend less with click and collect ( curb side pick up) groceries as I’m not tempted by my I store impulse buying which I always do 🤦🏼♀️
I NEED to start doing curbside so I don’t buy half the story while hungry 😂 🤦♀️

Yup I agree ☝🏾
Waited almost a year to purchase a cute skirt now on clearance, free shipping btw!

I spend so much less by ordering my groceries online and do curbside pick-up
Can we just take a second to say how on point Rachel’s outfit is!? Love, love, LOVE!😍😍😍
It's a sweater with a pair of jeans...
@@brdn-official Yes, but this particular sweater really compliments her skin tone and hair color. Plus, with the medium-wash jeans, it really adds to her look.
She is beautiful!!!

I have about 2k left after I pay my expenses every month...now I am working on increasing my income....with a Business or investments

It’s great to meal plan and it’s good for your budget for a week.
Wait 24 hrs after you made a decision on record. It really helps.
Rachel, you need to stop wearing adorable clothes while telling me to resist online shopping. You're killing me! :)
I find it amazing that she can still stay motivated to save money when they dont have to. I am naturally frugal. But i think if i was a millionaire, i would go ahead and buy the name brand cheese.

Rachel, do you think Amazon Prime is worth it?
I canceled mine, since I don't use the amazon music or movies. And, I don't need stuff the next day.

How about when they email you with your left over cart! Sometimes you get a deeper discount if you still want it….

Puma socks on Amazon cost more than from the actual company site. Plus I think the Amazon socks were fakes.
Wow! This was a great analysis of where we overspend. Thank you. This was good.
The miscellaneous always killed me for forecasting. Now I enter non-routine purchases into my budget live so I see when I have to cutoff these miscellaneous expenses or push them to next paycheck.
Love you you help not impulse shopping so much.
best way to get free shipping in stores like target is to buy necessities like diapers wipes toilet paper....
Good info, I needed this, not compulsive, but need to plan meals better.
How do you get those wavy curls, Rachel?
Is the app every dollar free?
And the auto fill that they happen to get is creepy on top of causing people to overspend
I'm just here to feed the algorithm.

Memorizing your debtcard is better than saving on their website or your device. Can't hack your brain. Well at least not yet...
People leave their purse in their car?!🤦
But I don't drive 20 miles to save a buck.
Free shipping bah!!!! Seriously I do get trapped by this!
The emails! Oh the emails are my weakness...
Thanks for all the ideas 💡 Rachel 😘😘😘💯
Khols with khols cash
All of the items you mentioned in your "miscellaneous" category are things for which I have sinking funds. I plan everything to the gnat's eyebrow.
😂
😊
I love by midnight. I just wait u till next day and delete them
News flash!! Your father’s company does the same exact thing she’s complaining of
The camera shifting to her profile is so unnecessary. It's automated, isn't it? Stop it, turn it off, keep still. I can't stand watching.
