Either Eiserman or Iginla for me. Lindstrom's injury history scares me and the Habs don't need another player with that history, they have enough already. I like Iginla. The apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree and he'd develop into a leader on this team.
Nicely said...Iginla is like a Tkachuk..and we know the team's that passed him up are kicking themselves.
Iginla , fuck it id take him with number 2 even hes our guy
Jay about boom boom g effrions relative ... Maurice Richards son ...look it up ..they could not make the nhl
Grant McCagg has Beckett Sennecke @ 5
And he’s been pretty accurate over the years.
.. and would amazing paired with Kirby Dach.
The Habs should have grabbed Michkov last year, there's so many good D-man this year.
so true
Fun and games! Can the Habs find a big physical forward with great skating, IQ, & stick skills? Do Lindstrom and Sennecke fit that profile? Otherwise take B. Catton for his elite skill set. That huge Russian defenseman might be a choice (Hedman 2.0?) if some trades are online to move a bunch of our D. Chose any from: Savard, Kovacevic, Harris, Struble, Trudeau, Norlander for an under 25 scorer in the league now...go get Shane Wright. He had a great development year, now everyone can see that he will be rock'n in 2-3 years.
Could we trade reinbacher and harris to utah for 6th pk? Arizona apparently wanted reinbacher last draft. Habs could possibly draft lindstrom and iginla . if that came to fruition? Wow!
So the good news, is the Habs at the 5th spot, will get either Lindstrom, Demidov, Catton, or Iginla. Any of these guys would be awesome. We basically get the leftover of the top 4, lol. Honestly, picking 2nd to 4th would be a bit of a dilemma, like, who do you pick between Demidov and Lindstrom if they are both available? I know the Hawks are gonna have a serious dilemma between them 2. They could a crazy good winger in Demidov to play alongside Bedard, but also, they could get their 2nd line center in Lindstrom, 6'4" powerforward....
For Anahein, my guess is they'll take Levshunov, 6'2" right dman, replacing Drysdale, top pair dman potential.
Columbus, might take Silayev? Dickinson ? Or whoever is left between Demidov/Lindstrom?
Hard to say, but the Habs don't have as much of a dilemma at 5, they pick their top guy who's left on the board. But honestly, for me in order its Demidov/Lindstrom 50/50, then Iginla, then Catton or Eiserman
Kent needs to go ALL IN and trade pick 24, our two 1st rounders next year and one of our D prospects for another top 10 pick this year. Draft Lindstrom and either Iginla/Eiserman, BOOM!
Beckett Sennece needs to be in that conversation as well big talented fwd!!! He has been a late riser as of late. If we’re after a big talented fwd u can bet on Hughes having him in his group of players.
I’ll be looking into him this week
I'd want Lindstrom...or...Eiserman...or Catton....or Iginla .. All I want ...is a SNIPER .. !!! PLEASE..!!! 😅😅😅
Snipers are lazy.... get a hockey player not a guy who likes to play hockey.....Dahhhhh
Hey Drew big fan of your podcast, you should take a look at Sennecke!!
I will, thank you. And thanks for supporting, appreciate it 😎
The funny thing is there is so much depth on defence in this year's draft!!
Funniest thing is where the Winnipeg picks sit, there's a chance Cole Hutson could still be available. You don't pass on a Hutson bro (not when you're going for taller forwards, only very interesting one remaining is Satan jr, but he's most likely to be picked further down the list, somewhere between 2nd and 3rd round)
Habs take Lindstrom and trade 24 pick and one of are defenseman prospects for the 10th pick and take Iginla
Hoping for HABS to be picking many forwards in the first 5 rounds, enough defenseman in our system. By the way, in the past 3-4 years, the same teams have been picking in the top 10, such as Montreal/Columbus/Anaheim/San Jose/Chicago
We will get cole hutson with winnipegs 1st ...pair 1 with xhejai and 1 with mailoux .. trade matheson harris barron kovecivic ..keep struble he plays both sides , keep savard for leadership and a 7th dman 2yrs down the road
@@naturalbeast5157 Please please enough with the SMURFS... Dallas at 201 pounds avg. beat the much faster, much more skilled, much smaller Colorado at 196 pounds.... Learn from other peoples mistakes .... Dahhhh
Lots of options. Wondering Drew and habs fans if you would trade pick 5 for Kent Johnson in clbs?
Not opposed to this but lots of good options for 5th
“All things being equal” only means if two guys evaluate the same on their board, they’ll take the forward. If Macklin, Demidov and Lindstrom are all gone in the first four picks, that will mean a VERY good defenceman is still there. At that point there may not be another forward who evaluates the same for them as that defenceman, which makes sense based on current rankings. In that case, maybe they just trade back, but hard to bet on the idea that Mtl has, say, Iginla as high on their board as, say, Levshunov or Dickinson. I think everything is easy if Lindstrom or Demidov are still there. If they aren’t, i think it’s all very much up in the air.
I don't see Demidov still there at 5, if Chicago passes on him (doubtful) then he goes at 3, he won't get down to 5. However Chicago takes Demidov, Anaheim and Columbus both take D, then Lindstrom falls to 5, and you take him for sure
Habs need a top six right winger. Left wing prospects are in place, for now. They don't have the high end right winger in the farm system either. A very high end RD would be brilliant. If they did then the D would be completed midway through the rebuild which would be amazing. The goalie prospects are in place. After the #5 pick they have another 24 draft picks over this year and next year to fix RW and build the bottom six. The problem with Lindstrom is that he upsets what they already have built. Does Dach become the 3rd line centre? Owen Beck has already proven he is better than a career 4th line centre. They would have to start altering what they just built.
@@starledge Lindstrom can always play wing.
I mean how many lines did we field that had 2 centers on it?
Dach, Newhook
Monahan Evans
Having too many centers is a good problem to have. So is having a lot of power forwards. Lindstrom doesn't upset anything.
Plus he is likely not to play for the Habs this season provided we don't set a record for injuries again
@@viper29ca Lindstrom is excellent on draws. I’d put Dach on his wing, but your point is still correct. Lindstrom does not at all upset what they’ve already built.
@@shmitzysays that's the beauty of playing 2 centers on the same line. Just put the hot hand in the circle to take the draw. Or if one gets thrown out of the draw, you have someone else that can reliably take the draw to come in, and still have a better than average chance at winning the draw.
Some have said we don't need Lindstrom, we don't need another behemoth power forward, we have Slaf and Dach.
When has it ever been a bad decision to have more power forwards on a team? Imagine a line of Slaf Dach and Lindstom. Be a hell of a line to play against. Not advocating in taking Slaf off the Suzi/Caufield line, but having 3 bruisers on the same line isn't bad either. Couple that line with Xhekaj and Mailloux on D......
Take Lindstom at 5, trade the WPG 1st this year (which I believe is 27th right now, could possibly go as high as 25th provided Dallas gets knocked out in the 2nd round), Calgary 1st next year, and maybe one of the 2025 2nds to move up and take Iginla, Catton or Eiserman. Nevermind the D, you have enough, draft D in the 2nd round, load up on high end forward picks
Not falling was Great
I think we trade down to 7th or 8th and pick Tij Iginla and get an early 2nd rounder or an asset. Dont be surprised if the take Cole Eiserman
Eiserman is way over rated. and small ...... Habs would never trade down.... but , But they could trade ( draft pick winnipeg + a D- man + a 2025 pick) for 7 th or 8 th or 9th .... for Sennece
Moving up will cost and we have lotsa' D and trading Roy is a loss so trade Matheson and keep Savard as our veteran. but a large forward seems likely. We have Suzuki at 210 lbs, Dach, Slav, and Armia on our fourth line. Priority is not size. A play driver like Catton would add more to the TEAM concept and a need for variety. Catton has it all and needs weight which is simple to solve. Catton pound for pound is the best forward in the draft and the play driver will add more to the TEAM. Size is easy to find but a solid play driver will win hockey games. Lafleur, Richard, etc were all under 6ft but were Giants and were play drivers. We cant pass up on this opportunity. Pick Catton!
How do they get 24 pick? Pretty sure it will be 26 or 27.
With winnipegs first round loss, that was the result. Check sportsnet.ca. It’s there
www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/complete-results-from-nhl-draft-lottery-who-will-pick-no-1/
If that’s the case, trade up to 2 and get Demidov, please 🙏
Why didn't the Habs pick a forward LAST YEAR as there was Michkov, Benson, Leonard available? Last year was a year stacked with quality forwards and they picked Reinbacker (ranked 15th). This year is now or never to pick a quality forward and there are only d-Men available. They will have to pick the 10th ranked player to have a forward as Demidov and Linstrom will be long gone. The Habs whole scouting should be fired. It is impossible to fail as much even if you planned it. The Habs should hand a copie of the consolidated ranking list to the Habs office receptionist and have her pick the players, the team will be much better. It is non stop errors KK style.
How can we pass on EISERMAN
Few years at BU to work on his all around game!
Imagine fully grown 6’1 205-210lbs Eiserman ripping pucks 🎉
The others players we can trade for with our surplus
And Parekh 🤯
Eiserman is the player the Habs should pick.
we should pick 2 Habs should pick 2.3 or 4 by trading pick #24 and Matheson for 1 of those picks so lets talk to Chicago, Anaheim, or Columbus and pick what fits and be prepared to add to our #5 pick and Add 2 prime talents to our line up. Management will pick the best 2 that fits their plans!
Demidov on Bedard's wing is scary
Two shrimps.... getting ready to get shacked and baked by larger heavier teams.
@@FooFahFoeFum cope harder
@@thomasbgageI mean he’s not wrong. Fact that you said cope harder suggests you need to also do the same.
@@Dcheen yeah I need to cope with Connor Bedard at center and a smaller but elite skill wing similar to Kanes size on my first line... woe is me
My choice is Berkley Catton
Only if Demidov and Lindstrom are gone.
Upgrade the Habs top 6 through trade and draft picks... The 8$ mill dollar winger who got 27 goals ... does not enter the crease.. loses board battles... but the league thinks he is a superstar. Trade Caufeild + Baron to Ottawa , for B. Tkuchuck and swap 5th and 7th picks.
Pray that Demidov asks in public "i wants to play for Moontreal only ... oonly Moon-treal please, no other team pleazzze " .... players have no balls .... These top guys like Demidov and Celebrini could DEMAND TO PLAY FOR WHOEVER. Then the shyte will turn in their favor and crazy trades and turn arounds will occur.
Don't like Eiserman, he's a one trick pony. Lindstrom would be great, if available. If not then I'd take Sennecke, he would fix RW on the second line, they need the size and Sennecke has really good hands. After that, Catton or Iginla.
If Lindstrom and Demidov are not available, i choose Catton.
Catton has crazy skills, super high IQ, to me, he's the Will Smith of the 2024 draft
and take nikita artamonov or terik parascak with there second ist round pick then take a big defence .
Sober up, we should be taikng Iginla
Get someone with size and grit
I think they will. The last two drafts Gorton & Hughs drafted size with their tops pick. The stud they pick at #5 along with Mailloux & Reinbacher ... they are going to transform into a bigger team.
Draft Parekh trade for a top 6 winger
Great choice but they don't need to trade, not yet. They might draft in the top 10 next year plus they have Calgary's 2025 1st round pick and will probably get another 1st round pick for Savard. That makes 5 1st round picks for 2024 & 2025. They have a long list of prospects with practically no NHL games played - Reinbacher, Mailloux, Hutson, Beck, Roy. They will become a rookie team again, soon. Lots of time to fix RW with a high end draft pick.
Lindstrom won't be available in the fifth pick.
Habs couldn’t drafted michkov last year with all these defensive prospects :/
Reinbacher is a stud
We're not getting Lindstrom... He won't be there.
lemme guess, skipping the BPA again like last year? What a plan Kent. Stop drafting by position , it doesn't work or do you want another Kotkaniemi instead of Hughes, Tkachuk? Buttheads
KK was regarded as the best pick by the Habs, they actually thought he was better then Tkachuk
@@matthewlarose9958 Total failure from top to bottom. Not identifying the BPA and drafting by position.
Iginla
If no superstar is a lock at 5th trade it to the Flames...9th is still a great pick.
No , we are taking Iginla , we are breakin the family curse of being in a shames jersey
I agree and could get another pick as they are desperate to get Iggy Jr
Yea pick another Rickenbacker you lovers.
Benson and leonard had sort of down years after being drsfted. Meanshile reinbacher has the potential to be that really good stay at home dman that was already playing with pros. Lindstrom, eiserman or catton will be great picks. Sorry to say but habs are to 2 to 3 years from contending for the playoffs when the d core had matured and jacob fowler is ready. Habs may be close to wild card next year tho. But the draft scouting is 1000% better than before cause almost every 1st round pick was a bust excluding price and i think pacioretty lol
If Demidov and Lindstrom are both gone, Habs need to at least consider Parekh at 5. They don't have to take him but at least consider him.
They’ll trade if that happens but I’m hearing that Demidov will be available,Lindstrom is apparently going to Columbus
Guhle & Parekh, Hutson & Reinbacher, Xhekaj & Mailloux. Six high end defence prospects in place midway through a rebuild. That would be amazing, outstanding. Once in place the D usually take longer to develop than forwards, need 250 to 300 NHL games. Parekh would seal the deal, complete the rebuild of the D and shift the entire D to development. They would be the envy of the NHL and a lesson for 31 GMs in how to execute a rebuild.
@@starledge Parekh is not even drafted and not all will stay
@@caperboy1169 Of course Parekh is not drafted yet. It was a projection IF they pick him at #5
@@starledge there are no guarantees that the rebuild will be successful
Nah they'll draft a goalie again
Demidov/Lindstrom or Parekh
I’d take iginla over catton
COLE EISERMAN or ZAYNE PAREKH
Nah lyndstrome or tij
Which probably means they're going to pick a D-men lol. It's called the art of propaganda.
It’s more likely they’ll take a forward. It’s their greatest need by far. It’ll also depend on which D are available at 5.
@@DrewDekes I mean. Why would a GM make a statement like this? How is it helping him? It's fog war.
It helps the fan base stay calm perhaps? Haha. It’s also such a glaring need that it really wouldn’t surprise anyone in the least. I don’t know, I’ll ask kent next time I see him in Buffalo at the prospects challenge. Lol
im sorry NO they wont ,you had a bad take .
what he said was he was unwilling to speak of the drop off off talent after the 2 fw and 5 d .
its ok because of basu eveybody is having a bad take
it is a d heavy draft dude, youre asking them to draft less talented players .give your head a shake
I gave my head a shake and they’re still taking a forward. I know what happened last year, this year their need is desperate at forward. Relax. They’re taking a forward.
@@DrewDekes i love your content drew. you have a way with words and are good on camera imo .
i know where the source of this we need a fw stuff came from , basu .
i took the advice of what the media talking heads came up with for years .they would say guys like zadina -wrong,people like wright-wrong.
so i decided to shake my head and see what guy i could come up with on my own .
taking advice from scouts and elite prospects into account .using the internet as a tool .projecting stats .watching youtube videos of people such as yourself .
then seeing what comes out .
thats parekh or yakemchuck at 5 .
there is a severe drop off in talent after the few fw and lots of d .some would say HUGE drop off .
but thats my opinion .
i understand saying what people want will get views .i dont mean to be contrary or a negative nancy .
i like you,i find your content to be good . but if basu says fw,and everybody else says fw.and its d ? in a d heavy draft ? odds are im right hes wrong imo .
but we shall see wont we?
im out on a limb .a few are starting to climb the tree i see them lol

I appreciate your honest response. At least you give context rather than just throwing arrows and walking away. It’s fun for some people I guess, I’ve learned that. Thank you for the kind feedback too. I’m not just going by Arpon’s question. It was also Eric’s question, too. And frankly, it was Hughes answer above all else….it is what I would like to see, your right, for them to add a solid forward at this draft. We saw what happened last year when I said the exact same thing, and they took a D…so, I could be wrong, of course I can. I’m just encouraged that a good chunk of fans, and Hughes and possibly some of the habs scouts, see the same glaring need at forward that the fans do….so, that’s what im going on for now. Not just one narrative, it’s the teams biggest need, and it’s difficult for me to see that as somwthigg they won’t do their best to address, whether they move up to make sure they get who they want, or they get who they want right where they are, or, still get their guy if they move down…I just think a forward is their greatest need BUT, I also know, after seeing the Dach trade, Hugo is creative enough to address their needs in different ways than we expect. So I’m excited to see what forward they add, whoever/whenever that is…
@@DrewDekes im just trying to not fall into the same trap thats been set by the media for us .every year come draft time.
im trying to have an open mind and seeing all the angles that is what separates the normal fan from the superfan imo .
sometimes im snarky ,other times i just have a dry humor . i also have bias towards certain talking heads in the media . specifically basu .
i didnt like how he and dom unfollowed me on twitter because i said someone was wrong with their habs projections last year .then i got ratiod and had all kinds of nasty messages from that persons fans .
i ended up being right .if i had backup instead of an unfollow ...my bias would slant another way imo .
i understand he is a highly esteemed member of the habs community . i avoid what he says .
imo most fans are sheep . if one black sheep is in the heard . one that dislikes drinking the cool aid ,because it tastes like almonds .
is that a bad thing ?
gorton/hughes will do what they have planned imo .i trust them to do what it takes to build not only 1 cup runs but 10 .
if they go off piste with the pick.ill have a problem with that .

For fracks sake....Pick a Non European like Igilna, but chances are the smarter teams will pick him ahead of the Habs leaving another Euro....Gad,Slavkisky,Richenbacker, Galheniac, and the rest of the Euros,,get us a Western Canadian

Did you watch the U18? Cause he did not look impressive. Many 2025/2026 were better than him. No even talking about McKenna and Martone, Malcolm Spence and Jett Luchanko looked better than him. He under-performed and most of the time tried to do too much.
