    I tried keto and canivore nothing worked. THis week its working not because of the diet but because I seen I am an addict and am appraoching carbs as a drug that I can not have. Has changed my whole mentality and ability to stay on these goals long term. thanks

    I found this website about 2 years ago . The idea of viewing food as a potentially addictive substance never occurred to me. I'm fortunate in that this information alone was all I needed to solve my problem . If I'm disciplined at the grocery store the rest takes care of itself. Doctor Cywes as impacted my health more than any other medical professional I can think of. Much thanks to you good doctor.

    I recently told my psychiatrist that I'd finally faced my food addiction and achieved food sobriety. When I explained I had to eliminate carbs and my trigger foods to do that, he made a sad face and said, "Oh, that's too bad." I'd expect that response from my grandma or the church lady next door, but it's unacceptable coming from a doctor who should understand addiction. When I related how thrilled I was about my success, he acted like I was talking about a funeral. Clearly, the medical establishment still has a long way to go to dispel ignorance. If I didn't know better because of Dr. Cywes, Dr. Berry, Dr. Westman, and Dr. Tarman, I would have let my doctor's words sabotage my efforts.

    I have been long term low carb. (Low carb cycling) Avoid fast food. No soda, very little sugar. All my labs are in range A1c 3.?, tsh3 ,ldl in range, no comorbidities, lift weights ,exercise, not eating in excess calories. But I’m obese per my dr…….every time I go , I’m obese. I’m 40,
    I get paperwork telling me I’m obese ….with leaflets telling me what I already know. I hate it.
    They want to give
    Me contrave or a stimulant.
    I’m at my wits end, about 5months ago I started lifting heavy because after so many years of light lifting and tons of cardio and being afraid to get big muscles I said f it.
    I’d love to loose 30lbs if fat if possible.
    I dunno I feel lost.
    I’ll add a note I am a sensitive person, I feel tiny adjustments. I don’t take birth control because it messes me up even the lowest doses, and progestin only. I’m on zero meds.

    I know you & Dr Berry are 2 of best doctors who can help obese people coz you guys have personally experienced being overweight. I've never been overweight with exception of having some belly fat at one time. My abs became naturally flat since 2019, one year after I went into menopause. After total *hysterectomy* in 2021 (due to 7" enlarged left ovary), abs are now super flat with smooth indented contours like an athlete. My exercise is walking carrying barbells or wearing wrist weights for about 1 hour/day. My appetite is naturally lower than in past. Menopause + hysterectomy = lean body with flat contoured abs. My BMI is around 18. No one told me there could be a *paradox* that you can *rejuvenate* after having reproductive organs cease functioning and/or removed. Women need to know.

It was the surgery that made me switch to low carb moving towards carnivore because I was tired. Insurers are fighting back against use of Ozempic for weight loss without diabetes.

    I’m 5’11”- 185 lbs. Not obese, just wanted to lose that last 5 to 10 lbs in the belly & hips. I’ve done carnivore for about 8 months & feel amazing mentally & physically(That alone is reason enough to do Carnivore), but had’t lost much weight. Dr Cywes suggested 3 months of Ozempic-This was going to cost me over $1,100😮 where Semaglutide & syringes from a compounding pharmacy was $250. I lost 5 lbs in the first 2 weeks & could feel that I just wasn’t hungry as much. Saw a couple of videos warning against Ozempic, that people were getting stomach damage & having law suits & losing muscle mass. Checked with Dr Cywes & he said if you follow instructions & use it correctly you will have good results. Only going to use it for 3 months & by that time my eating routine will have become habit.

    I am 75. On Ozempic 1 for one year so far, did not lose weight, to begin with, was on 40 carbs and 1000 calories/day - went on 20 (usually a lot less) and 800 calories/ day leaning toward carnivore and I feel great. No hunger, no food obsessions, and lost 18 lbs. this year. My A1C went from 8 to 6.5. Glucose Fasting from 11.4 to 7. Before starting on Ozempic had lost 70 lbs on my own over 5 years but the weight loss did not address my Glucose numbers. I am diabetic, hypothyroid, and have no gall bladder and no female hormones for 35 years. So losing weight is very difficult. Can not exercise - stenosis. I am in Ketosis (moving from a low of 1 to 6 during the day) and eat at a restrictive time from 1pm to 6pm every day. I still have about 40 lbs to lose. My doctor does not agree with my regimen and wants me to quit.

      sounds like you are doing the right thing, but are you sure you need the Ozempic now? Aim for zero carbs or only very low from some veggies, you might still be a non fat-burner, is your stool light and floating? Are you taking bile salts for fat digestion? Just because your body is making ketones does not mean it is able to burn your own fat, keep going though. Do not think you are too old either, I am 72, never been obese just carb addicted but my body truly burns fats well on Keto.

    I've been on Keto for 8 days and haven't seen any ketones showing on my test strips. I've lost 3+ pounds though eating the same calories when I wasn't able to lose weight for eights months eating the same calories. Has anyone else using strips to test fail to get a reading? Can strips be defective?

    • @glennkoenig6078
      @glennkoenig6078 Год назад +4

      The strips are not accurate enough to detect ketones at the level your body can produce. I would suggest getting the Keto Mojo meter. Also, 8 days on keto is probably not long enough to be on the diet for you to be producing ketones, i.e. you liver at the point it is becoming empty of glucogone.

      I can get a change on a pee stick in less than 24 hours. Everyone is different, but in the beginning, everyone should be able to measure with those as we all pee the excess in our urine as we are not using them efficiently at first. Dr Cywes has said in a video before that if you are not getting into ketosis, go full carnivore for a few days and you will. Don’t forget that it’s not just about eliminating carbs, it’s also about raising the fat level. Are you getting enough fats?

      @YamatoForever Год назад

      @@marceygaitan4812 I must be getting enough fats because I just got a keto breath meter and blew a 1.1. I then tested the strips again and no change. I can taste the acetone in my mouth and nose and have been for 4 or 5 days. I'm hoping for a better number tomorrow morning when I've had a decent fast. This test was done 2 hours after a meal. FYI I'm eating 7.5% carbs with 20 grams net carbs along with 20 grams of fiber. About 58.5% calories from fat, and 34% from protein. And I've lost 4 pounds in 9 days. So those totals are working for me. I don't need a ton of fats thank goodness. But I have what I'm guessing is the keto flu (muscle cramps, headache, nausea). Hope it doesn't last long. Thanks for your reply.

    • @gsts379
      @gsts379 Год назад

      @@YamatoForever Keto flu will go away quickly if you take extra salt and maybe potassium and magnesium. Start with salty broth, dill pickle juice, or salted sugar free lemonade. Small amounts throughout the day. Search keto and electrolytes for more info.

    You are just avoiding the real issue, carb addiction. No matter what drugs or balloon device you use, unless you stop the root cause which is carb addiction nothing will change. I have no time for people who just make excuses. We know the root cause, we know what sugar does, we know that insulin plays a massive role, we know how to tame insulin naturally. We know all these things, so stop the excuses and do what needs to be done. Dr Cywes likes talking alot, he admitted to being obese at a stage in his life but ultimately did something to change that. Too often i see obese people just always making excuses yet all they are doing is hastening their eventual death. Unfortunately no matter what big pharma invent, the solution to our problems is simply a ban on all carbohydrates or at the very least put huge taxes on the macro nutrient and use the revenue to increase more sustainable meat production. That will solve the problem. It will no doubt create many other problems but its a start. Take the source away, and it will make it much harder. The law concentrates too much on illegal drugs like heroin, and other drugs of addiction but the biggest of all doing the most harm is left untouched. That is the biggest crime against humanity.
