- Hey guys! Thanks so much for watching & I hope my tidbits of advice are able to help you :') Like I said in the video, college is not everything and you determine your own success, whether that means making the most of your resources or just being optimistic/proactive whenever you can. I know I'm definitely not an expert in this whole fiasco, but I will try my best to help you guys as much as I can.
To all my upcoming seniors, please don't feel overstressed or pressured to get into the "perfect" or most prestigious college. Try to do things that you love & please don't cheat in school (it's not worth overstepping your morals). Life has a weird way of straightening out if you live with good intentions.
To my fellow upcoming class of 2023, we did it! The past 17-18 years have been a whirlwind, but it's finally time to move on to the next exciting chapter of our lives. Congrats to everyone!

USC or UChicago would be like UCL for you guys. MIT is like ETH Zurich. Harvard, Duke, Yale, Columbia, Penn, Dartmouth, Stanford, and Berkeley are like Oxford or Cambridge. Kings London (I think that's what it's called) is like a lot of the upper middle class American schools (UCLA, NYU, Vanderbilt, Rice, Purdue, Georgia Tech, etc). I am Canadian and here we have University of Toronto and University of Waterloo which are among the Ivies when talking about undergrad employability, and I would compare them both to either UCL or Kings College. Hopefully that might free up some confusion.

I was in the same boat as you. I was WAY too unconfident in my own abilities that I ended up applying to over twenty schools (RIP my bank account). I ended up being accepted to more schools than I thought. This year, the admissions board decided to release three decisions (UCSD, UCLA, and UCI) on the same day. So I thought, “Oh look it’s time for three rejections!”. I checked UCSD first and I got waitlisted :(( then I checked UCLA right after. Right after that waitlist from UCSD, I never imagined that I would be accepted into UCLA. I was this close to not even applying too. Now I’m a proud Bruin!

I refrained myself from watching these videos because I was already so scared about my own college decisions... But! Now that I got into mY DREAM SCHOOL I feel like I am sharing my happiness with other people by watching these! I studied SO much for the entrance exam and it did pay off! From 285 applying I was one of the 16 to get in! Sorry for bragging but I finally have a reason to be proud of myself :D Congratulations to everyone for being chosen! Your attitude throughout this video was so inspiring! Just the fact that you accept what’s going to happen makes me happy. A lot of these college decision videos don’t have that kind of positive attitude. I hope I’m able to keep that same attitude this year as I’m apply to college!

AHH, Rice is definitely my dream college. It's close to home, I love the campus, and it's just a great college. I'm gonna be a senior this upcoming year and am debating on whether or not I should just shoot my shot and apply to ivies and such because essays are soooo time consuming... I'm a good student; I take AP classes and do well in them and I also do extracurriculars, but my standardized test scores aren't super high. I want to shoot high, but idk if it's worth all the time and effort just to get rejected. BUT I GUESS YOU JUST GOTTA GO FOR IT?? This is definitely a stressful process, but CONGRATS ON ALL YOUR ACCEPTANCES!! I hope you have a great time at Rice; maybe I'll see on campus next year if I get in :)

This is my favorite video to watch. I deserve everything that I got, like high school diploma, straight A's, 3.8 GPA, and no missing assignments. I got a new phone on a 4th of July to get on social media with my friends. Also for fun, while i'm out for summer break next year, I would like to go on vacation to Honolulu with my friends on my next year's summer break, Blake, Jason, Angel, Scott, Omar, Wesley, Jonathyn, Tony, and 12 Asian girls.

This video made me so happy and I don’t even know you! I’ve been watching a lot of these college admission reaction videos but yours is my favorite! It’s interesting seeing which schools accept and which ones don’t based on how they stack up against each other. I’m from Texas and Rice is the most difficult school in the state of Texas to get into. I had a friend who was ranked #7 in her graduating class (not 7%, she was the 7th overall student in a graduating class of 500) apply to Rice and she didn’t get in. Congrats on all of your acceptance letters! Where did you decide to go? Also, your mom’s reaction is precious.

Can someone explain to me how their college works? i mean, do they have to study after junior middle school before they can get to college? Pleaseeee
I'm not sure if this answers your question, but the college/university application system in the U.S. happens during the senior year of high school, or the 12th and final year of school by the start of the spring semester (January or February). There is still the spring semester to complete before graduation, so students do have to study after applying. Although, some students don't work as rigorously their senior year, often called 'Senioritis,' or a readiness to be done with school.

@@AntiMasonic93 There are a multitude of things, and hopefully things will be back to normal when the nation can stop the virus in its tracks:
It's in the best part of LA, about 5 miles from the beach, and near some of the best things the city has to offer -- where students often hike the hills of Malibu and hike to the Hollywood sign; there's an incredible drive (Uber or a friend's car) from the shore of Pacific Palisades to campus on one of the most famous streets in the world called Sunset Boulevard with its winding twists and turns; there's a nice short trip up the coastline to various beaches including Zuma; and a short Uber trip to Farmer's Market in Fairfax;
The quality of life is incredible; the campus food is top-tier, with options that can be even classified as gourmet (B-Plate) and healthy options including vegan; additionally, the off campus food (in Westwood Village) is excellent and top-grade;
There are numerous clubs to join from business clubs for students to make contacts -- numerous clubs for any business sector in which one wants to be employed, and preprofessional ones to prepare for medical, pharmacy, dental and law school -- UCLA's undergrad by far produces the most health professionals in the country of any university, including the most doctors, the same with lawyers, including those involved in entertainment law;
It's sunny for most of the academic year with students wearing shorts during the month of December -- I would say for the past school year it probably rained about 17 of the 231 days of the three regular academic terms;
The school is on the quick-paced 10 week teaching term with one week for finals, which most students grow to love (because most will say that they can take a dreaded class and it'd be over faster);
It's near Hollywood, and there are numerous celebrities that use the running track and play club sports with the students;
The school has every ethnicity you can think of -- Persian, Jewish, European White, South and East Asian, Armenian, African-American, Latina/o, and the thing is that they're all generally highly attractive, with the students tending to be extroverts;
There are various sports teams that are competitive in just about every sport (football is a work in progress though) with over 115 national championships, so there's always a sporting event happening during the year;
The campus is gorgeous -- the buildings are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and it's hilly which gives it its incredible majestic quality.
There's more, but I hope this will give you some idea in why UCLA is the dream school for _a lot_ of students. All the best...

It’s really interesting watching these videos because the system is so different to the uk. Here we can only apply to up to 5 universities and you can only apply for either oxford OR Cambridge, but not both. A deferred entry is also something you choose yourself if you want to have a gap year before university - it looks like deferred entry in the USA means they offer you a place for the next year for whatever reason but it’s not your choice?

I didn't know that!! That's actually really interesting, especially the fact that you can only apply to up to 5 universities in the UK. Here in the US, if you're deferred in the early decision round, that means that your application is placed into the regular decision pile. So it basically means a delay in knowing whether you got in or not for the upcoming school year. However, there are some schools that offer transfer admission, which means you're admitted for the next year, not the upcoming school year. Hopefully my explanation helped! And thanks so so much
