    • @imakeumadLOL
      @imakeumadLOL 4 года назад +2

      @@ronmartin3755 The Chase didn't ruin anything initially, and it was a great concept that offered the cream of the crop to fight for a title. However nascar just couldn't let a good thing alone.
      First they raised it to 12 cars, ok a little bump to go with the competition, but then it got raised to 16 cars and anyone with a win. It just added so much garbage to a playoff system that still rewarded the good of the old system, while having a higher chance of an exciting end to the season. I mean look at Stewart and Edwards. Edwards with 1 win on the season and Stewart with 5 in the chase alone. They tied and the breaker went to Stewart. The original chase still offered rewarded consistency.
      Now it's just a mess. Playoff points, brackets, etc. It offers an exciting season finally, but its all gimmicks. It's like watching someone a group of teenagers came up with.

      Just a week before this, Brian Vickers was penalized at Texas for passing before the green waved in a Busch race. NASCAR says it cannot assume intent, and that a violation is a violation: Doesn’t matter if you get forced below the yellow line here. Jr. passed below the line... NASCAR can’t assume intent, right?

    • @jrfan07
      @jrfan07 5 лет назад

      @@gregdeemy3005 It was a missed call no doubt, and the car directly behind jr did the exact same thing too (Sadler), so they would have had to penalize two drivers at the same time. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not but it was noteworthy. Jeff Gordon got away with it in the 2007 daytona 500 as well, so even several years later they would let a scattered driver slide with that POS rule that shouldn't even be there in the first place lol, hardly anyone remembers that one though because it wasn't for the lead.

    • @gregdeemy3005
      @gregdeemy3005 5 лет назад +1

      Ethan Weeter The problem is it’s a judgment call. The penalty is based on when the driver begins the pass. See the 2001 Pepsi 400... Tony Stewart was penalized for passing below the yellow line, with two or three laps to go. He began his pass on Johnny Benson and was then forced below the yellow line in an almost identical fashion to the Jr. / Kenseth pass / force. Simply put, NASCAR wouldn’t dare to have penalized Jr. in that situation. It is what it is. I’m not a Jr. hater, but he clearly got the benefit of certain types of situations. In this case, similar to the Stewart situation that I referenced, Jr. began his pass, was forced below the yellow line, and advanced his position. The rule, while a judgment call, is back and white in that regard. He should have been penalized, and Kevin Harvick should have been declared the winner. Doesn’t matter 16 years later.

    About that Hermie Sadler car, this was back when you'd see a car promoting autism awareness that didn't have Autism Speaks on it. Sucks that they previously sponsored the Dover race and everyone watching at home thought "oh they support autism awareness" because of what those Fox Sports yahoos said without researching what they actually stand for. At least they don't sponsor it anymore. Just another reason why I prefer NASCAR on NBC.

      I agree, but what about the race being 'sponsored' buy It don't you like?

      I know they don't sponsor/endorse the race anymore (Autism Delaware does now, I don't know much about them) but I still didn't like how because of that, Fox Sports was doing the same by saying "those of you watching at home, we'd appreciate it if you supported this organization for Autism Awareness Month" while most people who saw that took their word for it and thought "oh, they support autism awareness" while not knowing what they actually stand for.

    Yeah, Jr should have been black flagged for passing 17 and 48 with 5 to go. he was not forced down as there was s til a line width between Kenseth and the yellow line. Guess they didn't want the fans to throw stuff on the track or riot if they black flagged him.

    Good race with a total bullshit finish, that win should not of stood. Only did because it was Jr. Everyone else before and since has had penalties despite being pushed under the line or not.

    Right around the 21 minute mark, Chris Myers says it best, Dale Jr's popularity is because of his dad. Of course fans will get mad if he left it at that, so he goes on to say he's got great driving talent, but in reality, Dale Jr is only popular because when you think of nascar and you're not a fan, you think of Dale Earnhardt Sr, not Richard Petty, not Jeff Gordon.... well, Maybe Jeff Gordon. But they mainly think of Dale Sr. they see Earnhardt, and they say, "Oh me must be good, I'll root for him even though I know nothing about the sport." and BAM, Jr's a 12 consecutive most popular driver award winner. All because of his daddy.

      YOU MUST NOT KNOW THAT POPULARITY EENT FROM BILL ELLIOT TO DALE JR.. NOT SENIOR..DALE SR. IS WHY NASCAR IS SO FUCKED UP NOW RACING DIRTY AND WHRN HE DIED NAS CAR PUT A STOP

    • @TheRealJohnStephenson
      @TheRealJohnStephenson 8 лет назад +1

      Okay little kid, you have got to pay attention in English class because if you could read properly, you'd know that I never wrote about popularity being given to Jr from Sr. I wrote that Jr got his popularity because of his name. His daddy died and everyone freaked out because Sr was the intimidator, everyone thought he was indestructible, so when he died everyone was sympathetic for Jr, as he was now racing with out a dad at a very young age. Dale's death brought attention to the sport and for almost every race in 2001, after Sr's death, someone always talked about their sympathy for Jr and practically put Jr in the spotlight. Then after NASCAR's "feel-good story" when Dale Jr won the first race back at Daytona. He hasn't earned his popularity. That's the main point. If you looked at his MPDA wins, he started in 2003 and has won it since. If you knew the history of the sport then you'd know that from 2005-2013 he barely managed 4 wins in those 9 seasons. Had his name not been Dale Earnhardt Jr, he wouldn't be in the cup series right now. And this year, both of his wins came at restrictor plate tracks where he had an engine that nobody else had, so he basically had the wins handed to him. Not deserved. You can try all you want to prove me wrong, but the truth's the truth.
