Fate stay night Unlimited Blade Works is the sequel Fate Zero and it's an action, shounen anime tv series that was released in 2015 by studio Ufotable. The Holy Grail War is a battle royale among seven magi who serve as Masters. Masters, through the use of the command seals they are given when they enter the war, command Heroic Spirits known as Servants to fight for them in battle.

theres two different versions, the thrown gae isn't an instakill (just locks on thats why emiya chose to block rather than dodge)

The fact that this was way back 4 years ago and still have better animation than most of shounen anime today really proves that ufotable is way ahead of their time

I mean artwork is gorgeous but there is really no choreography, everything happens so fast you cant even see it
@@Cabooome There IS Choreography. Every Sequence has to be meticulously planned out and animated. Whether or not you find the Choreography to be too fast paced or poorly EDITED is a different thing all together. Slow the footage down and watch it. Lancer's movements are fluid, powerful, dynamic and aggressive. The animation IMO is excellent. In any case, I wrote my orginal comment THREE YEARS AGO, in the interim there have been better sequences in various anime, but at the time, this was the Apex of what was being produced.
That cheeky but stupid smooth transition between the fight at the school and the real battle climax at the church. I've watched the series a few times and I still almost missed the change over. Phenomenal editing mate

@@lbasura0:54 onward is the latter half of UBW, where as before that time mark it is the first fight at the school.
The second half is when Shirou and Rin heads to rescue Saber, while Lancer holds off Archer.

@@ApoloAbel I dunno man, he survived Gae Bolg, by tacking it head on. I haven't seen anyone other than him pull that off So I'd call that a win.
Saber has ridiculously high luck so it "only grazed her heart", but Emiya did it on his own.
You know after ALL these years of not knowing Archer's identity, and even AFTER finding out who he was... it never occurred to me until JUST now whether or not this whole fight Archer wasn't thinking "I've been wanting to pay you back for SO long." XD

Rho Aias has enough power protect a castle. But that wasn't Ajax's main goal.
Ajax mainly carried the shield to protect his half-brother, Teucer: a archer that fought with a spear.
Though the shield was lost upon Ajax's death, its lives on as a Conceptual Weapon in a Archer with swords... that's fitting.
So, archer took lancer's gay bulk with his raw ass that he took from ajaculation?

My understanding was that EMIYA saw Rho Aias at some point in life (which is how he can project it at all), and what we see is just what Rho Aias looks like when deployed.
Rho ais isnt really a shield per say but the flower born after ajax death.
@@jacobchamberlain3055 i thought to myself randomly before reading this that maybe Emiya aka archer created Rho Aias as a "memoir" for saber's shield avalon. But I just realized he never saw saber's shield only his step father did.

@@tiaaaron3278 shirou , in his fight against emiya , managed to get his hands on all emiya's memory about UBW and how to use it ; plus , having directly faced and copied many of emiya's weapon , shirou also learned the history of all that weapon and how to weild it properly ( that's the reason why emiya could repel many of the GoB's weapon with skills alone)
At that point , shirou and emiya were practically equal.
And shirous can only fight back a non serious GoB ; even shirou , in the VN , admitted that he would be instakilled if gilgamesh regained his composure 😉
Not even touch the likes of EA.

If I remember correctly, the reason Lancer didn’t kill Archer is because the “always strikes the heart” ability only applies when he thrusts, not when he throws.
I think in Archer vs Lancer round 2, he says it was because Kotomine used a command seal to make him scout the other servants, not kill them. Which means the mad lad went around picking fights and living to tell the tale several times despite his luck *and* a handicap.

It also applies when thrown but in a different way. It can't be stopped and will keep aiming for the heart but won't rewrite causality when it fails. Archer survived by using a conceptual shield that acts as the ultimate defense against thrown spears iirc
@@zaki7583 you’re right. I did some more research after writing the comment. Lancer’s ability to rewrite causality apparently has short range, so it’s not technically that it can’t do so when thrown, but that the range is too short to bother throwing it. Also, yes, the reason it was a draw is because it was the classic “unstoppable force meets immovable object” paradox.

Take a like for that transition between 0:54-0:55, if someone didn't watch the series he would have never noticed this was actually two fights, that was so clean.

This anime fight is better than most of action fighting movies.
Now that's a smooth transition. I was actually confused how the background turned into the church, but out of context you wouldn't have figured out it was two different fights smoothly sewn together
Edit: That short pause at 0:45 is that smooth ass transition
Actually the transition happens at 0:55, but yeah
They also use similar moves in both fights. Like the one where transitions from a roll to pushing himself into the air. Except in the church fight he projects his bow and fires while airborne. Kinda shows how they held back.

He can spam his fake swords at them and kill them from a distance like he did with Medea (his first encounter with her) or slice the hell out of them while using projectiles (what emiya did to gilgamesh.

This is my favorite fight in the whole franchise and it’s not even particularly great but what I like about it is how fast it is because at first glance it seems just flashy but if you slow it down or rewatch it you can see it’s a well choreographed fight
