    I shall this a go. May be difficult after years of pulling 90 degrees under the chest.

      Great. If you have any other questions about it, let me know or if you get stuck trying to change your current pulling pattern. Also, depending on your strength and conditioning specific to the water will impact your pull pattern.

    This demonstration one of the best learning vedio....here you focus on two major points and combined very clearl in one vedio that is pull and shifting weight ....
    You show the vest position for whole body to pull the water + the best arm position tooo .... As well you very impressive show how from pull position swimmer has to do weight shift to supporting arm . .really very very excellent demonstration .....

    Most of the other, RUclips videos of swimming, how much higher elbow, usually those demonstrating that are ladies who seem to have a little better flexibility. Another description is the question mark form with the hand perpendicular to the shoulder part of the arm. Katie kedeckie form is the high elbow in the 800m.

      There's a lot of things that go into a high elbow catch. I'm assuming that's what you mean from your comment on this video and not referring to a high elbow on the recovery?
      Some of the elements needed for a high elbow catch are body position in the water. Higher on the water the easier it is. Second is your speed. Third is strength and conditioning specific to the water, especially core engagement through the stroke. Lastly, flexibility is a component, but not as big as you think.
      For this video, I wanted to demonstrate what the pull pattern looked like under the stroke and some of the angles that you typically see of the arms with efficient swimmers.
      If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    Hey Tim, Lew here , was on my indoor trainer watching this video and thinking I have a question . What if my arm is straight on my pull ? I have a Vasa Ergo trying to focus on proper pull looking down and i have a 110 pull . If my arm is not 110 degree's , do you lose power ? I dont really look at my arms when I pull in the pool.

      Lew, thanks for the question. The big issue with the vasa is you really can’t replicate the freestyle stroke on it since you can’t rotate, so the angles wouldn’t be the same. At best, you can mimic a portion of the breaststroke or butterfly pull. When you’re in the pool think about pointing your fingertips towards the bottom and pull straight back, if your hand enters shoulder width apart. I hope that helps and if you have any other questions, let me know. Again, thanks for the question.

    Why is the elbow so low on the pull. You should also identify the distance 200 m 800 m 3000 m.

    • @easyspeed994
      @easyspeed994  11 месяцев назад

      The current is running very slow. If I remember right to get a decent underwater shot, the pace has to be about 1:30/100 or slower. Pace impacts body position. For the distances you mentioned, it would all look about the same. It would change for the 50.

      @@Jupe367 Because turning your body 90 degrees on the side is an incredibly inefficient way to swim.
