- HOW did our move go...well let me tell you !!! It's the old and the new. S today - Pt. 2. We made the move finally and I'm showing you lots of before's and after's...when it's at its best and its worse! I'm 77.... it's a process !!
***MANY OF YOU WILL ASK ABOUT THE SMALL LATTICE IN THE DOORWAYS. I came up with this idea years ago and Jim made them. They are not attached but fit just inside the door frame. They keep Biscuit from going into the bedrooms and we don't have to open and close them...just step over them! Many people have told me I need to patent them but they are just too easy to make oneself.
***The house is 25 years old. It was custom built by a contractor for his "in-laws" and has most of everything we were looking for in our "forever" home. It sits on a small lot in a small subdivision with only 3 dead end streets. We've met a couple of our neighbors - most homeowners are older and we are told that we will love it here. And we do! Would you believe that we sold our condo for more money than we paid for this house...

I moved after 40 years into a 2 bedroom after my husband was gone . I gave so much away my treasures were not to be my children's . They did not want them. I down sized so glad I did . Enjoy your new home and new memories. Everything gets done in time .
If it is ok to ask, what did Jim do before retiring?
Our kids don't want our old stuff! They are the same everywhere. Very surprisingly sad.
I am still downsizing. wish I could sell everything and get a villa.

I couldn't help but cry when you did the "empty" condo part - gosh, we have moved sooo much and I still get so emotional seeing an empty home after I have lived there. As much as moving into a new chapter is "exciting", leaving behind & closing a chapter is very emotional. I love your new home - you are very special and that translates in your videos :)

Last year we sold our beachfront 1050 sq ft condo of 11 years (St. Augustine Fl) and bought a 1900 sq ft house 3 blocks from the beach in a cute Key West style neighborhood. I’m 68 & my husband is 72. I won’t lie. That move was grueling. Like you, we could not believe how much stuff we had packed into that tiny condo. And all this took place during the height of the Covid shut down in the spring of 2020! Just 4 short weeks after moving my husband was experiencing chest pains and ended up with bypass surgery. Thankfully we had the house livable by then because our energy was invested in his recovery for the next few months. We had to get a gate and gardening tools for the yard. We also wanted a garage and little yard for the dog. Such similar stories! I have to warn you…even a small yard can be a lot of work when you’ve become used to condo life. We are loving our new place and glad we made the move. I wish you both much happiness & contentment in your new home. We are not too old for new adventures! 😘
