    I always like to listen your recaps and analysis for every show I watch (and we seem to have somewhat overlapping tastes, which is nice) but in this case it comes across like you just don't like the show. And that's ok, nobody likes everything. It really shows compared with Silo (which I also enjoy and have been following). Of course there are going to be some moments that require some suspension of disbelief and leap of faith. For exemple as an power systems engineer Silo's concept and design of power generation is completely ridiculous. That whole thing would have broken down decades ago. But I still enjoy it. Anyway I well keep following, I always find something extra to think about after your videos.

    I still say Desmond is a Ghola or early form of a Ghola. Tleilaxu are from the planet Arakis. I'm thinking they found Desmond's dead body and used their technology to create him as a weapon to exact revenge on the sisterhood. I also think there's a possibility that Albert*, the surviving Atreides after Tula's revenge, is part of this plan on making Desmond a Ghola.

    • @mako88sb
      @mako88sb 7 дней назад +2

      Except don’t Ghola’s have artificial looking eyes? It’s been a very long time since I read the original 6 books but I think I remember that detail. Granted, this is thousands of years before the Duncan Idaho Ghola is revealed for the first time but I thought making human like eyes was something done until much later?

    • @mako88sb
      @mako88sb 7 дней назад +1

      @@dffndjdjd Not sure if there’s additional information elsewhere to go along with this, but I found the following at a Dune-wiki site:
      “Gholas originally possessed artificial 'metallic' eyes, due to an initial problem with the method of ghola production. This was later resolved, resulting in them possessing natural eyes.”
      This jives with what I vaguely remember but on the other hand, I’ve forgotten so much of the details in the books, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m missing some other information about this. I really should read the series again.

    • @LordOfNihil
      @LordOfNihil 7 дней назад +1

      i honestly dont think the tlelaxu are that far along yet. they were still known as tuluxa at this point are are mostly business oriented (biotech obviously) and not as religious as they are by the time of heretics. i dont think they are making axlotyl tanks or face dancers yet. nor has any major cultural shift happened in the books. you get a few rogue scientists working for the machines and the like, but i dont think any survived the war and there were some shady organ farming operations. i think the face dancer in the previous episode was a natural evolution (they pulled that with the voice, so it makes sense they would use the same lazy angle for face dancers). i suspect she will at some point get captured by the tlelaxu and used as the basis for first face dancers, i even suspect she may become the first axlotyl tank. ive always seen them as the sisterhood's antithesis.

      @@dffndjdjd Okay. Thanks for the additional info. Wish I had my books handy but they are buried in some box in the attic. Not sure if you’ve read the schools of Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert? I read the previous 8 prequel books by him and didn’t really care for them. The schools trilogy was much better imho. Especially concerning the navigators. I’m curious to see if more seasons are planned that will expand on the sisterhood, mentats and navigators.

    With me it's the characters, I like the characters especially the sisters. The dynamic within the Sisterhood inevitably will lead to confrontation. I don't expect "the confrontation" soon but there will be a confrontation. The palace or more precisely, Constantine and his wish to be cherished by his father. Ynez and her independent vivacious character. I didn't particularly like Constantine at first. His refusal to abandon his sister when they were children. Changed my mind. The cast has been great portraying the characters.

    I cannot remember any passage in the books where someone zonks out or over doses on spice.

    When you really think about the concept of genetic memory, the concept completely falls apart: case in point, how can you access the genetic memory of an ancestor when they are living the same time as you?

    • @LordOfNihil
      @LordOfNihil 7 дней назад +2

      i never really figured other memory would work if it was genetic, and that it was a primitive form of prescience. take the example of two sisters born from the same mother a few years apart. you could only effect the genetics of a child at conception (perhaps in utero since the bg's abilities), thus you could only pass on memories you had at that point. thus the younger daughter would have access to more memories than the older one. then if the mother lived a few more decades, then neither would have access to those memories. it would not be set at death. this is why i think there is a prescience aspect, as the genetic persona gains prescience before being passed on and has access to all their past and future memories. then that would explain how you can gain access to somone's memory even though they are alive. this would unlock a form of telepathy i suppose (again bh/kja borrowing too much from the lynch movie, i dont remember that happening in any of the frank herbert books), hence the ability to "share" memories as in the conclusion books.

    Even though I like the episode and show. You know what doesn’t make sense in dune , is if you can inherit memories/personas of your ancestors in your blood/Dna that means it would have to be memories before your parent and their parent visa versa gave birth to them. Like I can see why Paul can access his mother’s memory from when she was a baby/child because that happened before she gave birth to him and he inherited her memories, but how did Lila have her mother/ grandmother Dorotea memories of valya killing her. That means her daughter/granddaughter would have to be born after the fact to inherit that memory and Dorotea’s revenge persona? Doesn’t really make sense.
    Unless dune wants to say it’s mystical link between bloodlines and they can access the memory’s in a type of Ancestral realm etc but that doesn’t seem like dune/ science fiction or does it idk. Most people are not going to notice it or care but am I the only one who thought of that?

    This is soooooooo far away from Frank's vision. The entire Butlerian Jihad and all of this "Thinking Machines" plot was never important, it was just a way to not have computers and to focus on humans and the human spirit. Focusing on the humans vs machines is exactly what Dune is NOT suppose to be, and yet, here we are, great......

    Overall, the reoccurring theme, the Hate you give, continues to hold up remarkably well. In the world of Dune, no one forgets…and perhaps no one forgives. I still don’t like the pacing. The payoffs aren’t epic enough to make it worth the wait. Desmond was just missing a t-shirt with arrows. It just further cements the fact that the only POV we’ll get outside of the books will be House Montague and the House of Capulet. Sorry Atreides and Harkonnen. My only problem with that, it’s a missed opportunity to expand the Dune universe. Instead it keeps it rather limited.
