@@OystersClamsCocklesyes they do. Like in the Dune movie the Doctor who betrayed Paul’s family brought down the shields. But there are not a lot of “handguns” as the shields make them pointless. It doesn’t make complete sense and it’s kind of just a way to make the story not have guns. 😂 The fremen have some guns they use in the second movie and that’s cause there is no shields used out in worm country. The shields make the worms go into a a killing frenzy.
Travis Fimmel is an Aussie. A lot of Vikings was shot in Ireland and Canada with some of the Fjord stuff in Norway, so surprisingly not that many actual scandianvians in the cast.
Thinking of your commentary on Sister Jen and Makayla - It’s so bizarre to watch how the acolytes and sisters speak to the Reverend Mothers and Reverend Mother Superior in this show, knowing full well in Frank Herbert’s timeline it would absolutely not be tolerated. I know it’s SUPER early bene-G history but it still surprises me they can get away with it. Also, in defense of Ynez’s truth sense - remember that she has known Kasha pretty much all her life after the Sisterhood rescued her and they were close. I assumed that she had been getting those teachings throughout the years which kind of drew her to the idea of joining the Sisterhood.
25:24 I think it is some kind of recording or communication device. The prince told his mother that he did not send the crystal when she asked him about sending a message. Perhaps it is the same thing, or perhaps it is a Expensive device or not common So Haru liked it
Here is my theory about Desmond, so let me know what you think. I don't think the virus will kill Desmond. I don't think it's a coincidence that the revelation about Desmond's identity comes shortly after Raquella's discovery. The Harkonnen and Atreides genes make him similar to Paul, so he's already a special person. This combination of genes could play a key role in how Desmond uses this power. Even if it's the action of the retrovirus, it's clear that Desmond's mental ability is needed to control that virus. After all, if AUNT Valhia managed to create The Voice, it's possible that her dear nephew Desmond, after being somehow exposed to the retrovirus (maybe even as a child after Tula abandoned him) but he was immune and maybe unconsciously he was able to modify the retrovirus, transforming it into a new weapon. Furthermore, we found out the virus is also the cause of the Sisters' nightmares, but these nightmares were about the worm, the eyes and what happened to Desmond on Arrakis. So the effect of the spice must also be taken into account. There is a scene in episode 4 that I think is very important, where one of the young Sisters sees in her nightmare not only the blue eyes but herself with her eyes sewn shut and cutting her throat. Those sewn eyes made me think of what Paul Atreides said: “Try looking into that place where you dare not look! You'll find me there, staring out at you!”. Those same blue eyes then overlap with Desmond's eyes in the same episode. So, the blue eyes could therefore refer to more things, such as the presence of a potential Kwisatz Haderach (Desmond) with both natural and artificial abilities.
1:02:06 As for Hart's His abilities, My conclusion is that he was genetically modified and the thinking machines were integrated into his body, giving him the power to burn at the cost of harming his body. I think they reveal the rules a little in each episode Because it's something original to this series For example, 1- it is a modified virus and has a relationship with thinking machines. 2-It is released by breathing in the air, which means that everyone around him is infected, 3-but he has the ability to activate it at will. 4-As is clear, it raises body temperature either biologically or through nano machines Since its relationship with thinking machines has been proven As for the side effects, 1-it harms his body and mind,(perhaps because he activates the thinking machines in his body to activate the virus and what conflicts with his body and its biological components.) 2- The more people he burns, the more Thinking machines he uses in his body What hurts him perhaps to the point of death. 3- so he cannot burn much. Four of them were too much for him
As for what he gained from the worm, perhaps it is a Preliminary version of Paul's powers Because he talked about seeing what even the sisters cannot see
Lila is struggling with controlling her fore mothers because she is so young and the training to partake in The Agony takes years. With complete control, a reverend mother should only be hearing the whispers of their foremothers (we have seen Valya, Tula, and Kasha hear them) Princess Inez hasn't trained for one day. She's been training for years under Mother Kasha to be acolyte of the sisterhood. Remember, Kasha has basically raised Inez after her "rescue" (which I suspect her kidnapping as a child and being found was all the doing of the sisterhood). After Kasha's death when Valya comes to deliver the news herself, she tells Inez that Kasha often wrote to them about Inez's promising training(Inez is also able to control her passionate grief with the breathing and emotion control) and that she would be a great mother superior some day. Kasha has basically spurned away and deflected the empress's influence on the princess (Kasha says this, the empress says this as well). That's why the empress is so damn bitter about the sisterhood, she not only had to deal with Javicco's relationship with Francesca and having a child but also Kasha influencing both the emperor and the princess so much that neither listen to a word of advise from the empress. She is a big time hater and grasping at power that Desmond provides. Jen calls Lila Doe Eyes because that was her nickname with the other acolytes in the beginning. She is so young and has that baby doe look. Francesca isn't random. She was one of the young sisters along with Kasha, Tula, and Valya you see in the beginning of the show when mother Raquella died. I'm not familiar with the books but a lot of the things you guys are frustrated with are shown or mentioned in previous episodes.
Your mileage will vary. I didn't make it through the first season of Foundation, I was so bored and confused by the plot. Now, I am not some dune-head or whatever the term is but I was engaged here for the entire season and if the finale next week ends on cliffhangers and then HBO cancels the show - I will be pissed. I don't understand how Desmond can be the son of Tula? How old is Tula? Are these witches older than they look?
I decided to go back and listen to ALL the books and short stories in chronological order. After the first short story the first book is called Butlarian Jihad. It sets the base for everything with the main story being about the war between man and the thinking machines. The visual at the end of Episode of the robot in the worm is right out of that book. At some point man is going to defeat the machines but I bet one escapes ……….
Yeah Desmond knows he's related to Kieran (either uncle or cousin) and thats why he didnt go after him but went after everyone else he was involved with... I think he's secretly trying to bring down the Royal Family and next week he's gonna break Kieran out to help him bring them down..
Love the recaps but can't say I'm really enjoying Dune: Prophecy. The longer the show goes on the less interested I'm becoming and wondering what is even the point, since there's almost definitely going to be nothing that directly connects to or sets up Dune 3. But Travis Fimmel is the man, he's carrying the show for me at this point
Just another fine episode. Show just fine. A little boring, a little interesting. I'm still interested and think the last episode could be cool to see played out.
Great show(s) covering this series so far gentleman! Keep up the great work 💪🏼🚀
We really appreciate it!
They don’t have guns in the Dune films because of the shields. I’m guessing it’s the same here.
Yup
Don’t the space ships have guns?

They use guns in the opening because of what was said above, no shield use where the worms are

Med’tulla oblongata 😂😂😂😂😂
I used to work for Carvana. They gave us those plate frames on the first day and I regretfully had that on my car until the day I was laid off rip
😂 damn
They show the sword master mapping out the palace for a bomb with that exact item
The little ball?
The thing they find in the sword masters room. You guys are right though why would he just have that sitting around
