When you have a trout chasing your mepps do you continue the same speed retrieve or do you speed it up or slow it down?

I pretty much like to just keep it at an even pace all the time, definitely don’t reel fast! I definitely run into instances where they just follow and not strike though, in that case I’ll give it a couple tries and then usually switch to an alternate tactic! 👌

I know its good to see a familiar brown that you have gotten before in the past. As i have quite a few myself.. some grow more than others between catches.. but recently i kinda dont want to get the same fish again and again. Im always excited when i get a new previously not repeat catch.. do you feel that way

I absolutely feel that way….. there are certain streams that I’ll actually skip over the holes or sections that I’ve caught a certain big one if I’d already caught it that year…… it’s definitely best in my eyes to not over pressure big fish….. once per year is plenty….. now sometimes they move in the stream & I’ve re-caught a cpl different ones that way over the years…. But the majority of them in small water especially stay right in the same hole year round! It’s so cool & nostalgic to approach these spots the following year when you know a certain big one lives there & the excitement of meeting them again & seeing how much they’ve gained or grown in a years time! Good Stuff man! 👌😁

For those deep faster waters just use a 1/16th oz hair jigs they work great

You tie a big perfection loop then pass the whole lure thru? Easy changeover or what’s your reasoning?? That’s a cool method

It’s the knot my dad taught me when I was young & I’ve just never needed another one! It’s fast, strong & it works! 👌🤙👍
