    Very important note about the fury cancel (from an optimizer PoV): when it hits the enemy, there's a brief "time stop". This is similar to effects from other mostly hard hitting attacks, but the practical result of this effect is that it takes less "game" time to execute than real time. So it's actually a little faster/better than it already looks.

    Didn't even realize that looping True Strikes with Unfettered Fury would be than the Omnistrike -> UF combo damage wise.
    You learn something new everyday.

      This level of ATB generation is only possible with level 9 dragon claws. ATB Charge Rate Up, plus Weapon Ability ATB Refund, makes it possible to get 1.05 ATBs per fury cancel loop. Without either of those you generate slightly less than 1 ATB per loop which forces an extra loop before the 3rd true strike can come out. But I think fury cancel generates slightly more ATB than omnistrike does. That level of granularity isn't something I want to fully explore with my uploads though.

    I saw your breakdown video on the Uppercut Fury cancel loop vs Uppercut Rage, and that was great. Can’t say I’m familiar with the Block cancel. Would it be possible for you to break it down and go over what the goal of the different cancels are shooting for and why they are useful?

    • @aethertruck
      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад +4

      Block cancel feels maybe unintentional. To execute it, you just push block the moment uppercut makes contact with the enemy. There is a moment after contact where Tifa's feet are still on the ground, and pressing block will prevent her from catching air. It's very good, but not nearly as useful as the fury cancel by any possible measure. It generates less ATB, it does less damage, it builds less stagger, and it's much, much harder to do. In my opinion it's not really worth the trouble because of those factors, but the fact remains that it does have a niche practical application for the optimizer.
      The unbridled cancel builds healthy ATB and does a healthy chunk of damage, but it takes a while for the attack to land. This makes it a balanced attack, not abusable.
      The unfettered cancel builds healthy ATB but does pathetic damage, however the attack is blisteringly fast. Despite the poor damage, the spammability and healthy ATB charge make it eminently practical. It doesn't need to do high damage if it allows you to use 20 divekicks per minute. In my recent test, I did 13 uppercuts and 13 fury cancels in 16 seconds. Each uppercut and cancel loop generates 1 ATB with the ATB Charge Rate Up weapon trait, so that's 13 ATBs in 16 seconds. It's really really powerful.

    How do u do uppercut to fury cancel?

  • @professak
    @professak 2 месяца назад +6

    Thank you. There is misinformation out there regarding this. There is a reason most vids out there are mostly doing uppercut fury cancel instead of uppercut guard cancels. i guess cause uppercut guard cancels where more of a thing in Remake, and some people didnt explore unfettered fury enough and just assumed.

    • @aethertruck
      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад

      I am only 99% sure I executed it correctly. I'm half expecting someone to give me a reality check but I tested this today for like 2 hours and I think if a better outcome could arise, I would have encountered it. Today is the first time I learned about guard cancels. Do you have more information on them?

    • @professak
      @professak 2 месяца назад +1

      i meant the uppercut guard cancel was found during the demo of Rebirth, not Remake... oops on my part. But yah, it was a good way to generate atb back then before anyone even knew unfettered fury existed. Once the fury cancel was found out, i never looked back lol. i guess some people didn't fully explore unfettered and stuck with what they knew from the demo saying its the fastest way to generate atb. i never believed it.

      There was no guard animation cancel in remake. All of Tifa's animation cancels were done with the Parry materia back then (uppercut -> parry slide).

    Quality content as always ❤ now can you do some aerith mechanics?

    • @aethertruck
      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад +2

      I'll consider it. Aerith only has a little bit of hidden depth. Her radiant ward changes her dodge, for example. Also you can select which ward to teleport to by pushing your stick toward it, if there are separated wards. I'm having trouble thinking of anything else that might be not well known.

      @@aethertruck transcendence giving her more magic damage, radiant ward boost how much speed and things like that can be a good video imo. Thanks for the content anyway

    Im a bit confused. Can you tell me the difference in the video of fury canceling and building stagger while pressured? Were you testing two different things, or does fury cancel loop targets into quickly getting staggered?

    • @aethertruck
      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад

      I was testing two different things: damage/ATB generation in the first pair of videos, and stagger generation in the second pair.
      I was just covering my bases. The fury cancel isn't very good at building stagger on pressured enemies, but it's better than the block cancel. This video isn't a recommendation on what to do to a pressured enemy, it's strictly comparing these two techniques.
      The strongest thing for Tifa to do to build stagger during pressure is use her triangle attack in unfettered. If the enemy is stationary (like Titan in these clips) then the unfettered 3 full basic attack combo is the 2nd best thing you can do, however considering expending a triangle attack locks you out of using her full combo string, you may want to hold off on using her triangle attack. The 3rd best thing is focused strike, but it's still a good choice on enemies that are moving a lot. All three have great use cases so I recommend using them all and seeing what you most like.

    Damage wise against staggered enemy how do these compare to spamming Omnistrike(lvl 2 US) only?

    • @aethertruck
      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад

      These strings aren't designed to maximize damage against staggered enemies, they were designed to compare against eachother to see which is better in multiple scenarios.
      My advice on spamming omnistrike - unbridled - repeat during stagger is, it's good in the early game. Once you have true strike, the best basic loop is
      True Strike
      True Strike
      Rise and Fall
      True Strike
      Omnistrike
      True Strike

      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад +2

      Yeah you were the first person to inform me about block cancels. I was super excited to see what results I could get with them.
      Does it look like I'm doing what you did when I do them? I did them the very best I could. I'm open to the idea that maybe I'm not getting back to the uppercut quick enough or something but after testing for a couple hours I never was able to make the loop any faster.

    • @kieragard
      @kieragard 2 месяца назад

      @@aethertruck I'm not that consistent with it unfortunately, but there's a French guy who does it really well. The combo I was talking about melted titan in seconds. In fact, I think you can melt every boss in one stagger window with it.

    How does fury cancel work? Do you press square after uppercut?

      Yes, during max level of unfettered fury (rage and fall) only.

    How do you do the fury cancel?

    • @aethertruck
      @aethertruck  2 месяца назад +1

      At max level unfettered fury (rage and fall), you can cancel her uppercut (hold square) by pressing square again before she touches the ground again. It makes her do a mid range homing attack that massively boosts ATB

      It's just shorthand for the attack that happens when you push square during uppercut (hold square). My previous video covers it in detail
