Additionally Transcribe (which is really great) allows you to add Section, Measure and Beat Markers.
Without this feature I wouldn't have been able to learn songs such as
i.e.: Talk to your daughter (Intro of the Life Montreux Version 2007) , or Black Magic Woman/Gipsy Queen/Oye Como Va (here especially the Gipsy Queen part).
Thanks for the continual inspiration in an attainable fashion.
And thank you for the continued support!
Good on ya Jeff! Uli forever...💜🎸
🙌🏻🙌🏻
15 years after you taught me this stuff... I still use every ounce of it when I have to learn a solo note for note for a gig.... which happens a lot. One other thing I do: once I have it sorta down.... and have all the notes right... I'll practice it with no amp a lot. Then when I play it through an amp it feels like I'm cheating.
That’s the ticket!
Thanks. All good tips there! Roth is a fantastic guitarist. I actually met him in 1975 when the Scorpions played a gig in the north of England just after they released In Trance. I was a 17 year old local guitarist and I was blown away by his virtuosity even then. He was so approachable though as were the whole band. Good guys!
Killer solo,well played!!!Thanks.
Thank you!
Love seeing a ‘70s strat style guitar. Good video thanks

That's awesome man, thanks for sharing
Absolutely nailed it! And, great tips Jeff. Thank you for all you do for the guitar community. Now, on to my Uli Jon Roth story. I was at an amp show in Detroit, kinda like a NAMM but just for small amp manufacturers. I ended up hanging with a famous guitar tech who now worked for one of the amp companies that I purchased an amp from. I had no clue who he was but man... did he have some great stories. One of them was this: He was teching for a famous guitar player whos band was touring with the Scorpions. After a long show one night he and the guitar player he worked for went back to the hotel. The guitar player told one of his bandmates that they were going to go out for dinner and when he came back he would like to just be able to crawl into bed because he was really tired. Absolutely no parties in his hotel room. His bandmate said, I understand... no problem. After a 2 hour long dinner they arrived back at the hotel. While walking down the hallway they heard loud music coming from his hotel room. The guitar player said, damnit! I told him no parties in my room! As he flung the door open he saw his room packed with people drinking and Uli Jon Roth standing on his bed in a full wizard's costume ... pointy hat and all. My buddies and I just fell out laughing. The life of a rock star!!!
Caravan... of course this sounds familiar! well played !!
Thanks!
That's what I heard!
What a fantastic video have a good weekend Jeff 😊❤ also I had a cold this week 🤧
Love Uli. Great job.
🤘🤘
It's "Caravan" for sure!
Great video..and the solo is..wow ;)
Thanks Claudio!
Transcibe! is the BOMB.
Transcribe is the BEST!
This is great stuff, Jeff. I always knew you used to shred, but this is the first time seeing it. 🤘🏻
A question about picking that I struggle with: Are you using any of the techniques Troy Grady discusses (Breaking the Code) to avoid making your picking hand bounce up and down with each note? Your hand motion seems to stay pretty flat relative to the surface of the strings / guitar body.
(Sorry if I’m being overly detailed with the question.)
I'd add, after the solo is learned use a metronome to practice it, to get it up to speed, as well you should also be aware of the timing, and which beats phrases begin and end on. - my two cents.
Great playing as always. I was wondering how you got it up to speed. Did you use a metronome?
Transcribe is great! So is your playing here. I have a hard time with the patience to really slow things down until I get it. Always something to work on.
🤘
🐎 oooh
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Smart advice in this video and very well put.
Thumbs up if you would like a dedicated course by Maestro Jeff McErlain on this killer solo!
Scallops for dinner, scallops for pillows...
'Just like bein' born stoned
I'm still having trouble with parts of "I Know A Little" by Lynryrd Skynyrd. Parts of the lead playing are obscured by ths rhythm tracks. I've figured it out to a fairly acceptable degree, but don't know how close it is to the real version, even slowed down to 0.25x on RUclips.
You love that guitar don't you 🙂? You seem to have so much fun with that guitar.
This is brilliant Jeff! I'm actually struggling learning a solo with a tricky run (Gary Moore - Out In The Fields) and I feel like I've hit a brick wall. I can't get it up to speed cleanly. I can get it fast but it's a bit sloppy. I feel like I tried everything and I'm stuck. Any tips?
I sometimes find the problem can be in the picking or fingering. Have you examined those? Or maybe you’re trying to pick too many notes. That’s usually my problem.
@@JeffMcErlain yeah. It's a pretty fast picked run. I tried strict alternating picking but at higher tempos I seem to default to economy picking. I'm pretty comfortable with the fingerings. It's just getting it up to speed. I tried the usual start slow but I'm not sure that's working for me.
I'd be interested to know if you played on top of the slowed down original recording as you learned it, or if you just listened and tried to copy what your heard.
All of the above.
@@JeffMcErlainThanks. There was a purpose to the question. I had asked an online teacher to provide a downloadable version of the lead he was teaching so that I could slow it down and play on top of it. He replied that he didn't want his students to learn that way. I thought that was stupid.
Scallops are tasty....but I don't like them on my guitars!
You're an amazing musician 👍
Thanks! You know they are really easy to get used to.
@JeffMcErlain I tried them in the 80s....maybe I should give them a fair chance now?!!!
Let me find out Jeff is a close Metal Head Shredder 😮😅...you just never know...
😂
@@JeffMcErlain 🔥🤘
Wait…there’s no magic trick…just hard work and determination…come on man 🤣
Ha! I know. I’m sorry.
Wait actually I woke up and could play this… I had never even heard it. So weird… 🤓
I have a 2009 Yngwie Strat. What year is yours?
Ya know I have no idea! I bought it used. It has the Duncan pickups so newer-ish…
Nice 👍
Scalloped frets Jeff?
I've never been able to get my head around them. 🤔
