  • The 1972 Chevelle SS ended the second generation of this muscle car from Chevrolet. On the outside of the Super Sport you will find 15in wheels, dual-exhaust and vinyl roof. On the inisde you will be greeted by a Hurst shifter, center console and SS steering wheel. Under the hood is a 402ci V8 mated to a 4-speed gearbox. THIS IS IT!!
This Chevelle is The Most Desirable muscle car for Me!!
It isn't the quickest muscle car out there, but I Absolutely Love this one!! I have studied muscle car designs for many years, and in my humble opinion, this is the best-looking muscle car of all!! This is only my opinion, but, having spent many hours cruising and experiencing the visceral feel, great exhaust-soundtrack and the familiar whine of the transmission while rowing through the gears, and, the best of All... peering over the raised cowl induction hood while cruising and Boston cranked on the 8-track in my brother's 72 SS Chevelle!!
There are certainly countless great body styles, styling/color combos, such as the '68-'70 Chargers, GTO's, Camaros, 'Stangs, AMX's, Darts, Dusters, Torinos, GTXs, TransAms, Roadrunners, 442's, Grand Sports, Super birds, and, I could go on and on...
I Love All of the classic muscle cars, and there isn't enough time to even get into the Great engine/transmission, and exhaust soundtracks, tires, etc.
Having acknowledged these, this '72 Chevelle is the perfect combination with the great colors, wheels, blacked-out grill, beautifully sculpted body, power train and the interior that transports me back to the 1960's and 1970's during the peak of the muscle car era.
Much simpler times, no computers nor cell phones, the intoxicating smell of unleaded gasoline flowing into the tank, and....., Disco!!!😂
Thanks so much for sharing, and you do a Great job describing this gem, cand I appreciate your insight and knowledge!!!

I had its upscale and often overlooked cousin as my first car in 1980, a 1970 Monte Carlo SS 454, also black over cherry red. What a car to have as young teenage male. Crazy amount of torque - actually a bit tricky not to peel out with its somewhat sticky throttle pedal. It was all about quick acceleration, the handling was only ok and the brakes were pretty pathetic for the speed you could quickly attain. Still, I would love to have it today.

It's for these reasons why I plan to hold onto my e92 M3 6spd and S2000 - NEVER selling them. If they break down, I'll still keep them and fix them myself later on. We're going the way of boring, garbage electric vehicles, and ICE cars - especially 6spd manual and/or 8-cyl - will become collectors items worth A LOT.

My first car back in 1984 was a 72 Chevelle . No SS mine was kind of an oddball, must’ve been custom ordered. Only options were the 307v8 p/s p/b am radio. No carpet just a rubber floor! and cool body colored steelies with bow tie moon hubcaps.
My dream car would be the seldom seen 72 Heavy Chevy option. It was a more affordable alternative to the SS with several engine choices including the 402. Just couldn’t get the 454.
Great video ! Brought back some good memories! Thanks.

My brother owned a Red 1971 Chevelle SS454. While not the performance dragon of the 1970 SS454, it was still rated at 365hp and if you put headers and free breathing intake with the cowl induction hood; you'd have more hp than stock, very comparable to the 1970 version. I loved the performance and styling of the beast!

I love this car. I'm a big fan of this generation of Chevelles. They are well designed, were well put together and drove/drive very nicely. I was fortunate to go car shopping with my dad in 1970. I tried to convince him we needed the SS396, but he bought a very nice Malibu with the 350. It was a wonderful car and would most likely still be in the family, but it was rear-ended (totaled) on the interstate during the after-work rush hour in the late 70s. That had previously happened to my dad's 55 Chevy years prior. Sad, but luckily, he was not injured in either incident. Life in the big city.

The Chevelle is awesome! However, when it comes to the full sized two door type of Muscle Car, the olds 442 has my heart. That or if I were to go the Pony car direction, Boss 429. That’s not yo knock that Chevelle tho, gorgeous machine!

Joe! You forgot the business end (I know everything was pretty plain and simple but you were probably excited just to go on throttle!)

Thanks again for showcasing the classics 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
My interest for the Chevelle ended after the 1970 model year. Back in the day, the ‘71/‘72 Chevelle were not quite as interesting as prior years (IMHO). Nice big block though!!
