- The Camaro was created by Chevrolet to compete with the Ford Mustang. On the outside of this 1969 SS you will discover the Cortez Silver paint, gloss black hockey stick stripe, billet 17in wheels and trunk spoiler. On the inside you will be greeted by a restored houndstooth interior. Under the hood is a 396ci V8. Is the 1969 Camaro SS a BETTER muscle car than a Ford Mustang GT?

Old school muscle will never be forgotten. These are so sick
That look is legendary
So very iconic
The model year 69 is hands down the best Camaro ever made.
You just may be right!
The best Camaro is the new 2025 Camaro Z28 😊 .............. Oh wait...hehe
Best looking yeah. Today's cars are better in every other way
The best part doesnt require smog
@@charleslanphier8094Thanks for that revelation...it's called progress mixed in with research and development. I'm pretty sure your oven is better in every way over your grandparents 🙄
Hey Joe, those "Fog Lamps" are the turn signals, no fog lamps were available. ------ Camaro's and Chevelle's were the beasts back in those years, you could get the 396 Big Block or the small block chevy 302 with 2 4BBL carberators (Z28 302 V8 Cross Ram Dual 4 BBL Carbs) 290 hp. There were 4 396's available - official 1969 Camaro 396 big-block options were the L34 (325 hp), L35 (350 hp), L78 (375 hp, iron heads), and L89 (375 hp with aluminum heads). -------- That shifter was called a (Horseshoe or Lift Gate) shfter for the 350 and 400 Turbohydromatic and lots of guys would put (shift kits) in the transmission for faster shifts. I owned a 1970 Camaro SS with 400 automatic and this same shifter and later I bought a 1970 Chevelle SS with 396 and 4 spd Muncie (rock crusher) manual trans. Both very fast and fun to drive. Joe - To answer your question (the Camaro was GM's direct response to Ford creating the Mustang) so you are probably right that had it not been for the Mustang we wouldn't have ever had the Camaro.
I love first gen Camaros, but here in southern cali, there’s a huge over-saturation of them. Mostly hipsters, that don’t know a mopar from a Pontiac. But hey, it’s great for the fabricators and the speed shops turning these cars around, making money. And still great to see more of them than ever on the road. Feel it might be a direct response to having these EV’s being shoved down everyone’s throat.
The 1969 Camaro SS was the first muscle car I fell in love with. It was featured in Asphalt Urban GT for Nintendo DS
The car was black with flame decals on the sides
Oh wow! That is so very cool!
My guy if you go on this page koolie B koolin he have the exact same car same color and set he try to get rid if right now I thought this was his car
Hi, this is also my favourite muscle car but does exist better muscle car in terms design and power ?
My favorite year Camaro, awesome man. I showed up to a local meet over 10 years ago with a 94 Supra, and it was nice. But when I saw a Candy Apple 69 Camaro, I was in shock and awe of that Camaro.
If I had the resources this would definitely be in my dream car warehouse. My wish list is long!
I know that feeling David!
The 1969 Mustang lineup was amazing from the Trans Am winning Boss 302. The Cobra Jet Mach 1 and the Nascar homologation Boss 429 with Shelby introducing their GT350 and GT500 lineup.
The best looking cars were back in the day…it’s when people took pride in what they made…different world today…thank you sir for another great video..
I love this car. Growing up in Potomac, Maryland there were a lot of Camaro SS and Chevelle SS cars. Lots of noise and burnouts.
I can listen to that sound all freakin day, thank you Joe Bro for this awesome experience
Joe, your uncontrollable laughter when accelerating says it all...great video!
Proper American muscle car V-8 exhaust sound! I ordered a '69 Mustang Fastback with a 351 4-barrel 4-speed from the factory in Nov '68 - $3006 out the door.
Speaking of the 60s, let's add Cream (starring Eric Clapton), Big Brother And The Holding Company (starring Janis Joplin), and The Amboy Dukes (starring Uncle Ted!). 😊🎸
Doesn't get much more classic than that. Beautiful. Thanks for bringing that review.
Excellent car. Still for me I will take a 70-73 split bumper one. Or 70-74 cuda
Classic car review greatness, from the best car guy on RUclips. Thanks again Joe. ✌️💙
More retro reviews Joe. Loving this.
Twinkies back in 69 were twice as big as the Twinkies today. My favorite was the old banana flip.
Banana Flips were the best!
I love it !! Thanks Joe……really enjoyed that one. All the late sixties and very early seventies muscle cars were amazing…….before the emission crap kicked in.
Joe, you are the Absolute Best ! My first car that i bought when was 15, '69 Camaro..complete piece of junk, lol...My Father worked on it, countless hours..Bless Him ! Thanks for the great memories!
Nice classic muscle car, Joe but I do like John Wick's car Mustang Boss 429 .1969.😁
My dad was a camaro man, he wasn't rich and only got what he could afford ( especially when i was born), ended up getting a 68' firebird in orange and needed alot of TLC tinkered with it for YEARS, he took the badges off and slapped "Camaro" on it, no one knew the difference until he told them and they saw that infamous blue firebird symbol on the side windows, we eventually painted it white with black race stripes on it and we weren't pros, definitely wasn't showroom quality like this one but he didn't care yet always admire the ones that were but best believe he always turned heads, even won an award one time from a car show he went at to his surprise, he never got to have a quality classic like this one and be fortunate Mr. Joe if he was there with you, he'd have wrestled the keys out of your hands to drive it, thank you for reviewing this beautiful relic the way it deserves and going ON THROTTLE it reminded me of the good ole days when I was a kid with him 9/11/13 RIP pops.
If your curious the car is still in our family, sold it to my uncle ( one of my mom's brothers who always wanted it) several years ago which he fixed up, why you ponder? Because much to the dismay of my pops, I became a charger man 😉 not that he didn't like other classic cars anyway.
I hope you find a Buick GSX. Many younger folks are unaware of Buick's powerhouse past.
More muscle car reviews please. Everybody reviews new cars. DO IT, DO IT NOW.
Thank you for this retro review. These are the cars I grew up with. Today's cars can outperform the cars of the 60s and 70s but they are still appreciated for all they did back in the day.
Wish go back in time buy bunch 1Gen Camaro $3500! Amazing machine!
Thanks for doing these classic cars, always brings a smile and almost a tear. I grew up in this era, my teen years,, and its long gone...sad. oh well, keep em coming Joe.
Yours may be faster Joe, but the 1st gen will always be the best looking and the coolest. 😁
Love it but its also painful to know that there have an uptick of thefts of Camaros around the US. Please have your keyfobs safe and secured people.
$4100 was a pretty steep sum in 1969 though. That was easily Oldsmobile territory. Still not sure I'd gamble eating a 55 year old Twinkie. 😬
I do remember a time when Anna Silk/Bo Fae Succubus Lost Girl drove a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS like this one, but hers is a convertible version of a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS.
I don’t think there is a more universally liked body style than the 69 Camaro. I had a chance to buy a Hugger Orange RS/SS 396 for 10k back in 2000 and have regretted not buying it ever since.
This is one of the 3 cars that takes pride of place in my dream garage. Killing it as always, Raiti!
My dream car right there
Wow!. It looks much better. Thats for sure.
Raiti you look like the guy who played in Insidious 😂🤣
Thank you so much, Joe. This is what the joy of driving is all about. That's how an engine should sound!! I can't wait for your next retro classic review!!
55 year old car and it's still cool.
Hands down....69 Camaro! The ULTIMATE Automotive equivalent of a "One-Shot Deal" or in this case a "One-Shot Model Year" true Classic 💰🍺
Beautiful restoration! I love the balance of stock and more modern features.
They implemented the 5mph bumper because they knew in the future car manufacturers would forget how to make functional brakes.
I almost thought that was Emelia Hartford's 69 Camaro!
My dad's got a 68 in the garage. We're gonna build it up when we get enough money, and he'll pass it on to me.
Better have him put that in writing... 😂😂
I was 9 in 1969 Joe. I REMEMBER THIS RIDE WELL! I can totally DIG IT. Thanks for bringing it to us!( MOST CARS were a COUPLE grand back in the day, WE WILL NEVER SEE THOSE DAYS AGAIN!!) Thanks guys.SEE you on another ride!
STEVE! Thanks so much for the great work you do on production!
A 69 Camaro and a 69 Twinkie ? My $4100 check is on the way 😂 Awesome Joe 🤙🏼 Thanks
The first car I owned was a 68 Camaro, it had Cragar Mags, Hurst Shifter, Holley 4 barrel and other cool stuff, the first time I laid eyes on it I was in love, still think that year and model is the most beautiful car ever made.
Yes of course Joe and can't wait to buy one.
That's definitely a dream car. Someone's dreams are going to come true when they get this car.
Things just got a little heiry… take the wheel Joseph!
I'm about actual performance so I'll wait on the Charger Daytona Banshee.
The look on his face when he tells us that Twinkies™️ are loaded with preservatives…….
Chirping in 2nd gear ...speechless.Im a 70s kid and igrww up around cars and horsepower and this one is a perfect example of what you can do with these cars. Well done to the owner 👍👍👍👍👍
This was the review I didn't know I needed.
A 1969 Chevelle SS 396 four speed with AC and dual outside mirrors is my dream muscle car.
the Camaro was always a worthy competitor, and many times the superior performer. but I'll always have the original pony car on a pedestal.
What a hoot!!!
You better believe it!
Love it Joe!! Keep doing vintage car reviews mixed in with your new cars!! You bring good insight on little nuances! You could even dive deeper into certain technical features, I know I’d enjoy it 👍💪👊😎!!
Awesome thank you for that!
Awesome video Joe. Nothing like those early days of American muscle to inspire! Gets your heart racing every time!
Alright Joe I’m all about the OG
My dream car right there. It's the small things, like the rear fenders that just make it so much more cooler than a 67-68.
My dad loves this car so much!! he misses the orange one he had in his 20's.
Awesome piece Joe! When it comes to classic street muscle, I love them all. Love the old school features from that era, didn't need a touch screen...lol
oh yeahl.. we own 2 69 camaros! Their awsome!
That V8 muscle sound makes my heart so happy ❤️❤️
I like them both
Jesus Christ, that sound was unbelievable
This is right down your alley, Joe: Pure history!!
WOW. Thank you for bringing this awesome review. That is my dream car, along with the 57 Chevrolet Bel Air and the 53 Corvette.
Sweet ride! I own a 1971 RS/SS. Every car lover has a 1969 Camaro on their top 5 list. Beautiful car!
A classmate in 6th and 7th grade older brother had a brand new 69' Camaro SS in in white with orange rally stripes and a 4 speed.
That look is legendary love it)))
This 69 SS 396 is just a beautiful piece of Americana muscle 💪🏻
You got that right Mike!
🔥🔥🔥
Wow that’s a very jaw dropping experience from that 1969 Camaro 😮
Amazing review Joe.
Love the 69 Camaro Me and my dad found one in a field in Oklahoma in 1990 and restored it still have the car today
My favorite year Camaro, timeless lines. Awesome offering Team Raiti!
I had drum brakes on my 69' Road Runner back in the day in the 70s. Had them on my 65 Barracuda, my 67 Ford. All non power brakes. They stopped fine if adjusted properly just takes more pressure. If you can lock up the wheels the brakes are fine. Peeps who have never even driven older cars make it sound like because they have Drum or non power brakes the car won't stop. The stopping depends on how much pressure you apply.
What a beauty! This, and a C1 Corvette are my dream two muscle car garage.
Now, this is a car!!! Thank you for sharing.
: ) NOW THIS IS A "CAR"..... NO SENSORS! NO COMPUTERS! NO BULLLLL SH*T! GREAT REVIEW RAITI!
Classic
Old school muscle is a different level. Wish I could’ve experienced it
The 60s was the coolest time man!
These are the cars I cant wait seeing you drive
18:15 A friend of my mother bought a brand new 68' Camaro with a 6 banger. I remember we went to the beach in it. My mother, older brother and myself 11 or 12 piled into the back seat and a passenger in the front seat. And yeh it was cramped. The beach was about an hour away, but nobody complained. My current car is a 17' Camaro SS, 6 speed Manual. Had a 2011 Camaro before this. Both nice cars but the 6th gen is step up from the 5th gen.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Classic beauty and that sound 🤯
nice review Joe ...
Joe is becoming my favorite car reviewer.
I was loving the car, but the biggest zonk, no third pedal! I can only imagine how much more excited you would've been with that third pedal.
'67-'69 are so sweet ..
Just love the sound of that.
Dominic Toretto approved this video by the power of “FAMILY”
Glad you got this muscle car Chevrolet Camaro to review and test drive
I think the ultimate muscle car is the 71 Cuda, but they are way out of my price range
Still rolling through those stop 🛑 signs. Cmon Joe, tighten it up.
Totally awesome!!!
I’m a millennial 88’ and my father had one of these of course I know how the rolling windows works 😅
