Mine had just came in last week, but thankfully mine came in flawless. You're right, these ain't cheap but this car (with proper quality control) is still pretty awesome. I got this and the China Expo version together now!
Even with the flawed mirror I still wanted to give it a higher score but I also wanted to stand by my principle that quality control is important, especially at this price range.
