Добавлен 9 сен 2016
Welcome! My name is Jim, and I love collecting die-cast metal cars!
It's been harder to get around thanks to the pandemic, so out of my love for collecting die-cast cars and my extreme boredom at having to spend most of my waking hours indoors, Jim's Magnificent Miniature Motorcars was born! Here I'll be treating you to unboxings, reviews and reflections on this wonderful hobby of collecting die-cast metal cars. I collect mostly in 1/64 scale these days, but I'm open to picking up anything that catches my eye, and is easy on the wallet! Prepare for a show full of miniature supercars, racing cars, and other automotive masterpieces!
Join me on this journey of apprecation of these wonderful miniatures and may my unboxings and reviews be as fun for you to watch as they are for me to film!

Pleasantly Surprised, Part II: Unboxing a Toyota GRMN Yaris by Majorette

Since Hot Wheels and Matchbox have not bothered to produce a version if this car I figured the only non-premium version we’d ever see would be the one from Tomica, which I like but don’t love. Over twenty years ago, Hot Wheels came up with a casting for the then new Mercedes Benz CLK GTR, and it was…just OK. A few years ago, the model got a stunning refresh from the original designer Mark Jones and I’d been hunting it down ever since. To my joy, I finally found one! #mercedesbenz #clkgtr #hotwheelspremium

Though it’s been ten years since Hot Wheels has made a single Ferrari model I must say their licensing department is still more than capable of snagging some pretty plum licenses, like the license to produce this new hypercar du jour, the Gordon Murray Automotive T50s Niki Lauda edition! #gordonmurray #t50

You know, I must say I’m really tired of the argument that great detail and rolling wheels are mutually exclusive features. I have unboxed several models from brands like Tomica Limited Vintage Neo and Pop Race debunking this and I really wish the Ferrari models coming from Tarmac Works would follow their lead. What It was Made For: Unboxing a Maserati MC12 GT1 Race Car by BBR
I think the tires might be too thick or the wheels might be too big, so it makes the car taller--almost looks like a Dakar. But the casting looks good though!
Yup it does sit a bit high but yup the shape is quite nice.
Oh. My. God. Badass find there. And I had no idea all along that Mini GT does not have working suspensions. Also, some good news as I made a purchase of my own recently. Tomica No. 28 Subaru BRZ, which I know may be a lame choice, but I kid you not, Tomica really nailed the World Rally Blue Pearl paint job (aka "K7X") on the car. I'm thinking of buying Tomica's GR86 to pair with the BRZ since the two cars are fraternal twins anyways.
@@chirantonbaruah6015 well to be fair the only premium brand that has working suspension on a consistent basis is Tomica Limited Vintage Neo. Neither Mini GT nor Tarmac Works has it which is fine as it would drive the price up a bit. So Majorette still does pretty decent work considering how working suspension can visibly affect the ride height when the car isn’t at a premium level like TLVN.
After 10 months of pre-ordering, I finally got it yesterday can't wait for the unboxing
Congrats on getting hold of this! It truly is a gem.
Bro where can i get these 😭
@@monterojustinedavel.5698 these are very old so the store where i bought them won’t carry them anymore. Surely you can find them online.
Holy moly. Majorette really nailed this casting. If only they were kind enough to sell in my country because I heard that of late, the only new thing they were selling here was a 20+2 Porsche-themed box set which is mostly just recolors of the same five or six cars.
@@chirantonbaruah6015 I hope you guys get this, too. This Yaris is incredible!
That black model definitely looks sleeker than the silver one. My personal gripe is that Tomica Premium made no effort to put a gimmick engine bay in this one. Imagine them showing off a gimmick VR38DETT under the hood; that would have boosted this casting's value four-fold. Worse is that almost none of the new Tomica Premiums have openable hoods or engine lids. I guess they could do a Tomica Premium GT-R Nismo or 370Z Nismo someday with that feature.
Given that an engine bay is a rarity even in the ultra premium Tomica Limited Vintage Neo line, I wouldn’t hold my breath for them to put one in any of these Tomica Premium models.
Such a nice find, these are so rare… I’ve been hunting forever but I can’t find it 😢
@@michaelhoule7945 best of luck hunting! I got lucky with one of my local online sellers. I’m still on the lookout for the 911 GT3 RS Hot Wheels has released.
Yuhuuu I am so happy. Today a store in my country listed it for sale. I hope to get to me in a few days.
@@dier2tte I’m sure you’ll love it! It’s a really great piece!
I hope to find this rerelease, even tho it is not numbered like the normal release from the set. I also got the one with the transporter from early this year.
@@dier2tte I did find it strange that this series isn’t numbered. There also isn’t a list on the back of the card of all the models in the series. I wonder why.
Damn they nailed this car.
They sure did!
I must admit, I am not a fan of the unfinished rear end on this one. I can tell you Matchbox would have done a finished rear.
I definitely agree that Matchbox would have done a better job with this, but I was pleasantly surprised by this model just the same.
Very cool casting bro
I agree, it's a real winner from Matchbox! Thanks for watching!
What device do you use to make your camera quality that good?😮
Thank you for the kind words! This is just an iPhone 13. I shot during the daytime to ensure optimal lighting and made sure the room was well-lit. The phone did all the rest. :)

@@ArnavPouranik thanks for watching!
@ after seeing your video i pre ordered 2 tomica f40
May I know why the color is different for green in the box and silver on the real model? Is it based on the real car?
It’s a much duller shade of green on the model, but it’s still green.
It’s a much duller shade of green on the model, but it’s still green.
@@jimsmagnificentminiaturemo3235 thanks for your answer. The darker green on the box actually looks much better IMO. But yeah, the finished model looks great too. Should've got one too and hopefully I can still find one. Thanks .
All porsche products is licensed
@@kKtification I sure hope so. It wouldn’t kill them to put the sticker on the box to prove it.
I love the car so much I own 10 of them carded. Every time I went out to find others I’d see this Lotus 49 and grab it. Super quality, beautiful details, and those wheels are awesome. Win win win
@@Yourmission9 it truly is. I hope it gets the premium treatment at some point, but even if it doesn’t, it’s perfect!
@jimsmagnificentminiaturemo3235 I couldn’t agree more! That said it truly looks like a premium as is and I think that’s why it’s garnered so much attention. That said you throw some spectraflame on there with some real riders (which it would look like it has to the untrained eye) and I’d buy as many as I could✌️
Nice to see your car rolls fine. Some of the reviews i've seen, the front wheels get stuck for some reason.
@@asami_curations that seems to be the norm with Hobby Japan models.
Thanks for testing the roll! I will avoid this mediocre recreation of a vehicle that is literally built for the purpose of rolling lol.
Thank you! I wholeheartedly agree; if I wanted something static, I'd get a poster, or one of those metal Ferrari keychains they used to sell at Shell.
Very nice! I think i got this one too. I am one of those who don't care about rolling wheels 😄
That's fine, and it's a great-looking model apart from the whole wheel-rolling issue.

Nice review, I have this in blister pack. Waiting for the porsche too,,
Mini GT's Hypercar/Prototype lineup is among their best work, IMHO. :)
I got this one too. I am very happy!
Looks very interesting, although I do admit that I do not follow motorsports events a lot.
@@chirantonbaruah6015 my exposure to endurance racing is mostly RUclips highlight videos and online articles. I wouldn’t have the patience to sit through a race that would run for six, twelve or 24 hours, but I definitely appreciate the beauty of these machines, especially the Ferrari and Porsche models.
Very nice! I think i have the blue with orange one. (like a Gulf livery) I wish for this one the wheels had other color, a lighter color could make the model look better.
I agree; silver, grey or even copper colored wheels would look great on this!
Probably to keep the cost down the model doesnt have a detailed engine so that's why it has very dark back window
That sounds like a reasonable enough explanation, but it is a shame as it’s the only blemish on an otherwise perfect model.
Nice! That thing is sick.
I totally agree! Mini GT has an excellent track record when it comes to producing McLaren models and this continues their winning streak!
Damn, literally all its missing is a gimmick engine bay (and I kid you not how detailed TLVN has made some engine bays). Although then this diecast would probably been priced at worth its weight in 14 carat gold.
I agree; I know TLVN would have done an amazing job of it, though. Still, I’m quite happy with what they’ve pulled off here. This tooling has been around for a long time (like the real car) and it’s so satisfying to finally see it get proper tires!
I agree the 2021 minigt cars don’t look as good as their 22-23 cars, like you said I think it’s the wheels and also the tyres, also no tyre print on the inside of the tyres
I’ll grant that it’s harder to miniaturize size 13” wheels than size 18” wheels and that the wheel covers of the 2022 cars made replication easier but I still feel the wheels could have been done better. Just my opinion, of course.
Nice RX-8!
@@spidersdiecast thanks! Hope you get one too! It’s a real gem!
@@jimsmagnificentminiaturemo3235 Thank you sir!
I have painted unwanted rims to black
Good call!
Absolutely badass diecast but I am pretty sure Pop Race (if it has a Mazda license, that is) would be more than glad to produce something nearly as good for half its price.
I wouldn’t put it past them to make one even if they didn’t have a license, based on their apparently unlicensed 400R.
@@jimsmagnificentminiaturemo3235 Right
The rivets are nicely done also, amazing!
It truly is! I read a little article online about how this car came into existence, and it was gratifying to know how much care went into replicating such an iconic car accurately, even as a budget car. :)
I Just read it as well, it took a while to get it copyrighted, and the tooling and time it took to make it, totally amazing
Just bought it! Hope they make a vodafone variant as well!
That would be superb! I'm sure it's on their wishlist as well as it's easily the best known of the racing MC12 models. :)
Im reshaping the bent spoiler on mine as im typing this. So disappointed with the direction and pricing tomica is going nowadays. Almost ALL my tomicas that have spoilers come with them bent out of shape because they are so stubborn to use a better harder plastic. The wheels feel wonky as well. At the high price point they are charging, it is unacceptable and I hate how there are no platforms where you can voice feedback unlike hot wheels or mini gt where customers opinions do matter. Ive been receiving a lot more tomicas with misaligned windows even, had to buy 3 same models of the premium rx-7 FC just to get a decent model, very unfair for us customers.
@@Kei.W it truly is aggravating. Between the lack of a feedback mechanism and the brand loyalty of its customers I kind of doubt Tomica will get on top of these issues anytime soon.
It's a good casting. Even has side mirrors. I believe it's also very close to true 1/64 scale.
Yup this is an especially well-done piece from HW!
Maravilhoso
@@chirantonbaruah6015 obrigado!
Personally, I doubt if there's any interior in these castings at all. It's all blacked out.
To be fair, I’ve never seen Hot Wheels do that. I know Majorette used to do it a lot, and Matchbox did it for the early version of the Mercedes G63 AMG, but I don’t recall Hot Wheels ever not putting an interior on any of their models, especially premium ones. But I do know that they have put these idiotic black plastic pieces as windows before.
@@jimsmagnificentminiaturemo3235 Odd because I own some Hot Wheels mainlines which have rather decent-looking and visible interiors. Makes no sense to black out the windows for a Premium just because it is metal-on-metal and rubber tires with higher tampo quality.
Just an update; I finally held this up to sunlight and I can confirm there is an interior with seats and a steering wheel. It really is silly how Hot Wheels fits their models with these super dark window pieces.
@@jimsmagnificentminiaturemo3235 Agreed, HW Premium should use slightly less dark windows, maybe of the level used by majority of the Tomica mainlines. I will say though, Tomica's soon-to-be-discontinued No. 91 Chevrolet Corvette (C8) uses very dark window pieces too. Hopefully the Mustang diecast which will replace the Corvette fixes that.
Might sound controversial but I personally dislike the one-headlight-popped-up front here. Either keep both headlights open, or as I personally would have liked, both headlights closed. Other than that, there is very little to complain here. Except maybe for the fact that it's about time Hot Wheels Premium learnt a thing or two about pop-up headlights from Tomica Premium.
I agree. This just looks like it could frustrate everybody. Not a fan.
Not a fan either; I assume there's some quirky story behind it as there often is with these castings, but I like the rest of the piece enough to just overlook it. I like that Hot Wheels went the extra mile and lowered this car, like they did with the VW Corrado they released last year.
Beautiful
Hope you find one too!
This happened to me Not once, but twice, but three times, it happened to my skyline v spec 2 nur I kept dropping it until, chips got Even worse, then I bought another one, but i ruined it I tried restore it but RUNIED the paint, I also stripped it down to bare metal. The gallardo from tomcica that i have chipped front end and the decals have been Ripped off. Then I gave it to my cousin. I was able to get a replacements for both.
Paint finishes are really challenging to maintain in places with high humidity, like here in SE Asia.
