Welcome! My name is Jim, and I love collecting die-cast metal cars!
It's been harder to get around thanks to the pandemic, so out of my love for collecting die-cast cars and my extreme boredom at having to spend most of my waking hours indoors, Jim's Magnificent Miniature Motorcars was born! Here I'll be treating you to unboxings, reviews and reflections on this wonderful hobby of collecting die-cast metal cars. I collect mostly in 1/64 scale these days, but I'm open to picking up anything that catches my eye, and is easy on the wallet! Prepare for a show full of miniature supercars, racing cars, and other automotive masterpieces!

Racing Green, Part I: Unboxing a 1967 Lotus 49 by Hot Wheels
Ever since Hot Wheels lost their Ferrari license around a decade ago I have rarely seen any Formula 1- related models from them, modern, classic or anything in between, so I figured they'd pretty much moved on to other things, which was why it was such a pleasant surprise for me to see this on the pegs at Toys R Us!

I’ve said it before: I’m not the biggest fan of Liberty Walk mods to most cars; to my mind the swollen body work doesn’t work with a lot of the cars it’s slapped onto. This time, though, somehow it works for me, and Mini GT have been generous enough to to reproduce it, with model MGT00732. #lbworks #nissanz

I don’t really consider myself a collector of rally cars, but Mini GT has made their rally models, be they Lancias or Fords, impossible to resist, including this wonderful model from Hyundai!

I’ve come to notice that Hot Wheels Premium models are harder and harder to find on the pegs these days, which is kind of a shame because some of these new models are pretty impressive, like this Toyota GR Corolla. Unfortunately, when it's a car that's in demand like this one, the specialty sellers tend to sell them at a bit of a premium.

After waiting nearly a year for this model to finally arrive, it is so satisfying to get two colors of it in two weeks! This is a tooling that I hope gets MANY colors, because it is just so darned good! They could do a whole rainbow of these, and I'd get them all! #porsche911 #992gt3rs

I unboxed the white version of this some time ago, but for some reason it didn’t quite sing to me despite its obviously excellent craftsmanship. There’s something extra special about a bright color like red, though, that makes a huge difference.

It’s only been about a month since I unboxed the very first release of this model from Mini GT, but they appear to be intent on making up for lost time with the repaints! Personally, I don’t mind. Along with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, this is a model I'd like to see in as many colors as possible!

I missed the somewhat splashy debut of this model from Kaido House some months ago, so when the repaint of it dropped I was quicker on the draw. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for.
