DEAR BENJAMIN, I LIKE THE DEEP COLORS OF ORANGE/RED TONES ON THE CORN. THANKS FOR REMINDING US TO TEXT YOU ON THIS SUBJECT! GREAT JOB ON HUSKING THE EARS! 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
Oh my gosh Benjamin taking the camera, completely comfortable, and even giving the audience a task! ❤️ My favorite are the ones with a mix of orange kernels and really all colors on the same ear of corn. 🌽
That corn is beautiful. Loved watching Benjamin film. He has exceptional skills with the camera. Couldn't ask for a better helper. Love the transition to Fall.🥕🍊🍅🍁🍂
Good morning, what a pleasure to see Benjamin today narrating & giving us a choice to pick what we like. Well, I love them all. Thank you Laura for sharing your lovely precious family with us.
Laura's strategy for including the kids is brilliant. What a good mom! Beautiful projects today. I loved seeing Russell rushing up, intent on getting some pets.
Benjamin was just an adult in one second then a precious little guy in the next! I’ve been watching him since he was a baby and now Samantha, your family and channel is a sheer delight! 💖
Thank you for the most delightful video. I always love to watch Laura enthusiasm! But oh my,Benjamin’s presentation was a real keeper! Way to go Benjamin!
When I was a small child in elementary school, while learning about the first Thanksgiving, the teacher brought in some colored corn like you have. She explained that the corn originated from the American Indians who had saved seeds from one year to the next and they used the corn in ceremonies and parts of their dress and as jewelry. Our Mother got some every year and made door decorations every Fall and Thanksgiving. We peeled the husks back, but left them attached, tied them in sprays and handed them out to neighbors as a sign of friendship as well. It was fun to see it again as I do not see them in the stores anymore. October 14th is Indigenous Peoples Day. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Ahhh… memories as a farm kid this time of year! We had acres and acres of feed corn for the animals and to sell to the co-op, but also corn for us in the garden. Dad would pull up the truck full or corn in the back yard under the trees and a pile of galvanized tubs, we’d all sit in lawn chairs or on the tailgate shucking corn and detasseling, taking breaks with iced tea and watermelon. Then I’d ‘help’ mom process the corn for the freezer, mostly off the cob, saving a big batch for fried corn the next day with fresh green beans, new potatoes, fresh tomatoes, prob pork chops and cornbread. ❤ Sure, all your gardens are absolutely amazing, but the family memories you’re all making for yourself and your kids are deep and lasting.
PS Could you plant your corn between two rows of ranch panels so they’re sandwiched in between? 🤔 They could literally fill the space sandwiched between, then just harvest from each end toward the middle, and they’d have nowhere to fall when it’s windy. Hmmm…
It depends on where you live. I plant them in the fall for winter color. They bloom in the spring and the plants get bigger. Then the heat arrives and they are done.
Same here, and we’ve had some sub 0 winters. The problem always is they still want to live come spring, even though they’re tired and ugly! I also feel tired and ugly at that time and relate to the pansies, and feel awful pulling them out! 🤣
This is where it all began for me watching your channel about 5 years ago when I searched for "what to plant in urns" and found you! Been watching every day since!
Oh Laura, love the pots with the red pansies. Can’t believe you are starting to use reds in your garden. Also, love the corn and how Benjamin was so excited to tell about using it for fall arrangements. Maybe you could check with Bethany and see where she purchased the seeds originally.
I feel benjamin is truly going to share a passion for gardening when he is older. Both kiddos enjoy helping out, and you both make it fun for them. My son is the same. He has his own small garden this year that he made. He goes out every day and waters and is excited to give me update on the plants.
The corn is ah maizing 😉 such pretty colors! Benjamin, my favorite was that red - orange with the sunbursts and splashes of dark color!! I also enjoyed that silly corkscrew one with the lavender and white✨ It was kind of a series of "Kodak moments" during your harvest - it is just fantastic to have watched Benjamin grow, blossom and mature. I can envision him squaring off his own plot for pumpkins, watermelon, carrots, flowers, lol, all the things😊 with his own camera - a channel? 😳 Ok... I'll rein it in, but that young man is doin' things and goin' places...one can tell he has a loving, intelligent, sensitive, inquisitive circle around him. Looking forward to Samantha Grace's antics and proclivities!
The first time I grew ornamental corn was 21 years ago and it was so much fun "unwrapping" each one. The ears look gorgeous spilling out of a cornucopoia basket I have. I sprayed the ears with a laquer and I still have them, and they are still in excellent shape! I am glad you got to experience Bethany's gift of that corn.
I'm laughing at myself this morning. Laura has impacted my plant choices so much. I just got back from the plant store to plant up fall contianers. I got cypress, purple panseys, white kale, and creeping Jenny. 😆 I guess after watching for 5 years, it becomes second nature.
Laura, your corn harvest is fantastic! thankyou Bethany for giving you some seeds? to plant. Thank you Dear Benjamin, you're good, next time you can hold the camera and narrate👌👌😘😘 I love the darker shades ones and the purple ones , but all are lovely. Thank you Laura, you're the best, always looking forward to you and family videos. Blessings❤❤
Benjamin was so fun to watch! I remember making "fodder shocks" with my dad when I was a teen, I'm 70 now. We always had a huge garden so in the fall we gathered large bundles and tied them up and left them in the garden. The birds and squirrels loved it!
I just LOVE when your kids are involved, especially Benjamin. I remember when he was born and have so enjoyed watching him grow up in the garden. He's a joy to watch and I love when he interjects his thoughts. Since he did ask for our comments about what color(s) we like, well, that's a hard one, but I tend to like the ones that are more burgundy in color with a touch of "pink." Thanks for asking, Benjamin :)
That Benjamin melts my heart. I love the beautiful colors of the corn and I agree with Benjamin that fall color corn is my favorite. Thank you for sharing
Edited to add: we vote for the really Ruby red corn! My 9 year old laughed so loud at your trashcan bouquet of cornstalks 😂We love watching "the garden lady" together and your channel has inspired us to try many fun and beautiful projects together with our kids from petunias, peppers, and potatoes in raised beds(an absolute must for the pregnant gardener)to blueberries and even a whole grape arbor. Best wishes and a heartfelt thanks from the Prolificate family.
For Mr. Benjamin: Thank you for the invite to vote for our favorite! I love the orange tones with the purple husk!! Isn’t God good to create such beautiful colors for us to enjoy.
The more my sedum getting big after many years, it begins to flop even if there is enough sun. We have also alot of rain. I live in zone 3a. Thank you Laura and Aaron for all you do and being such good examples for the world watching.
Hi Laura! Please tell Benjamin i am texting to tell you guys my favorite is the red and purple one you point to at 15:45 and refer to as super saturated warm red tone! Great job with the corn!! 😋🌽🌾👍❤
Thank you for not cutting the Sedum! It is still beautiful. What a blessing Paul & Bethanny are to your business! Beautiful Indian corn, my Mom grew a few stalks many years ago, and we got so many years of enjoyment out of those ears! You have such beautiful gardens. It was great to see Benjamin helping & speaking with us! We will begin corn & soybean harvest this week in Indiana on our farm. Safe harvest to all farmers! 🍁🍂🌻🤎
Benjamin was so precious 🥰!! And those corn cobs are absolutely beautiful. It’s perfect that they produced such a variety of color. How fun. I’ve always been curious about ornamental corn. Is it safe to eat as well?
Laura I’m so proud of you coming around to the color RED in your garden … lol Love the thought of you adding the red pansies into your combinations of these fall colors to carry you into the winter… so brilliant! Is there any chance in the future of us being able to buying a bag of Bethany’s special corn mix? 🌽lol have a blessed day🥰
Never thought about red pansies. Great idea through Christmas, Valentine’s Day. Then add in white and pink tulips. Thanks for getting my mind to go that way. Like you, I have a tendency to stay away from red flowers.
Excellent job, Benjamin! I'm thinking about how many hundreds and hundreds of smiles you are responsible for making today! My favorites are the orange, red, and purples! YAY, Benjamin!! 👏👏👏
Laura, Benjamin is so sweet to help his mom gather up the corn. And yo answer his cute question..I like the red ears of corn the most. Beautiful memories you are creating with your children Laura. 🎉
You are doing a great job Mama, making the tasks fun and not too tedious!!! How wise you are! And allowing him to video is awesome! What a great young man you and Aaron are raising! Has Bethany ever considered selling her seeds? I would purchase some! Those are beautiful!
Love the caladium urn. Poor old sedums! Red pansies?? I'm like you..don't really use red in my yard but those dark red pansies are really pretty! I love planting purple kale in fall urns. Love the pastel corn! Whoa Benjamin..those are beautiful...I like your favorite one also! Bethany must have the most well fed pigs in Ontario! The gator disappeared!
I just gotta tell you this. You make my day!!!! My husband calls you the flower lady. He says I bet you in there watching the flower lady 😂😂😂. I watch you every day. Then I'll go back and watch some I've already watched. My flower bed is full of beautiful flowers watching you. Thanks 😊
Im curious about the ornamental corn. What will you use them for? Can the corn be consumed? It would make beautiful popcorn! And the caladium- are they always annuals? I’m in zone 7b and have been wanting to put some in a shade garden.
Ornamental Corn is for decorating mostly. It's edible but difficult to prepare. Cladiums are annual in all but zones 9 and 10 unless you dig them and store them (like dahlia)
The corn husking looked like a fun job. You’re a great helper Benjamin! What a great learning environment and fun place to live. I really like the orange and red corn.
I vote for Benjamin as the sweetest little guy. And a great helper.
Benjamin could grow some of the corn next year and sell it to raise money for himself.
YES! And, he stayed overtime too! I love them all, Benjamin! A cluster of different colors would do for me! ❤
Yes hes a beautiful boy ,you brighten my day Benjamin . I love all colors .thank you guys for the warm and informative videos . Love and blessings .
Yes he is a great helper and speaker on the video and the most darling smart little guy ❤❤❤
Good job Benjamin!
When I was a kid and I’m 65, we always called this corn “Indian Corn”. What a fun time with Benjamin.
Yes Robin. Me too!
Same. In Canada you still see them sold as Indian corn.
🌽same!
In canadian French, they sometimes call corn "Indian wheat", because the Americas were discovered by Europeans thinking it was India. 😆
71 yo and I also remember this being called Indian corn.
Laura, you are such a nurturing Mother! Your children are blessed to have you and Aaron as parents!
DEAR BENJAMIN, I LIKE THE DEEP COLORS OF ORANGE/RED TONES ON THE CORN. THANKS FOR REMINDING US TO TEXT YOU ON THIS SUBJECT! GREAT JOB ON HUSKING THE EARS! 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
Benjamin was the coolest kid ever. What a pro he is becoming. I vote for the purple and the red stocks. ❤
Omg he sounded so mature. They were all beautiful, so I picked the one with all the colors in it.😄
Oh my God, how precious is Benjamin?? What a beautiful little soul 💕 ❤
Oh my gosh Benjamin taking the camera, completely comfortable, and even giving the audience a task! ❤️ My favorite are the ones with a mix of orange kernels and really all colors on the same ear of corn. 🌽
Benjamin is SO mature and adult, you really have to be proud of him ❤ he's going to do great things
Camera and narrator ready ! That kid is a natural on air personality. 👍
Hey beautiful
That corn is beautiful. Loved watching Benjamin film. He has exceptional skills with the camera. Couldn't ask for a better helper. Love the transition to Fall.🥕🍊🍅🍁🍂

Laura's strategy for including the kids is brilliant. What a good mom! Beautiful projects today. I loved seeing Russell rushing up, intent on getting some pets.
I love Russell
Benjamin was just an adult in one second then a precious little guy in the next! I’ve been watching him since he was a baby and now Samantha, your family and channel is a sheer delight! 💖
Yes! Let autumn and Christmas be friends and hold each others hands through the changes!😊
❤❤
Benjamin has a great presence on camera! Just like his momma!!!
Thank you for the most delightful video. I always love to watch Laura enthusiasm! But oh my,Benjamin’s presentation was a real keeper! Way to go Benjamin!

Being a farmer is very hard work but it sounds like you had a magical childhood. 🌸
Benjamin, I love the deep colors. Purples and reds. Absolutely beautiful. You are the sweetest helping your mom and dad. Precious ❤️
He’s such a pro-in-the-making! So impressive and so absolutely precious 💗
Dear Benjamin, thank you for showing us all the different corn colors. We loved them all, nature is indeed the best artist. 🌽🌽🌽🎨
For the past 2 years, my pansies survived the winter buried under the snow for months! It's been amazing!
I'm surprised mine lasted through the summer! Well, some did that didn't eaten by deer.
I have 7 year old and 4 year old boys and still Benjamin melts my heart every time. Children are so precious ❤

Let’s go to Bethany’s and see her garden and animals! 🐴 🐷 🌺
That isn't something everyone is comfortable doing. :)
Bethany has told Laura that she would rather not
@@jeannestephenson8011 I thought that was the case but couldn't remember, thank you. I am a very firm believer in respecting people's limits.
Sounds like she prefers her privacy and that should be respected

mine used to do this too until I started "Chelsea chopping" them a couple months before their bloom time. Now they stay shorter, but don't flop.
