They are beautiful but also deadly. Make no mistake, they make look cute but would eat you in a heartbeat if they had a chance. I appreciate the work this park is doing, but I do wonder if geographically the bears would be better suited to a climate like in Norway for example.
Wonderful that they have the option to spend time with each other. I'd wondered whether that might be more stimulating for certain species in captivity, as a solitary lifestyle in the wild could be a result of the availability of food. Wild polar bears certainly congregate in large numbers in Manitoba while waiting for the sea ice to form, so they have social skills. Maybe that could be an option for the cheetah habitat! Male cheetahs form small troops in the wild and females spend much of their lives raising cubs, maybe living in pairs of small groups would be more stimulating in a wildlife park. Why else would cheetahs have 14 different vocalizations if not to interact with each other.
The only problem I see with all this is, you can't replicate the Artic climate in the UK year round right? So how are you keeping these bears cool during the summer months when we have these heatwaves without keeping them in their cages?
Thank you for your work and commitment! Polar bears are such beautiful creatures (but vulnerable due to global warming)... 🐻❄ ❤

such a wonderful animal species, so much caring and attention to health. Do you add fish to the waters so they can go n fish. They would love that.
