Always proud to hear the Samoan Warriors. They are fearless, trustworthy and loyal to the death. I fought side by side with these magnificent courage's bastards. It was a sight to see. The Taliban picked the wrong date to fight the Americans. They ran smack into a Company of Samoa National Guards and got their ass wiped out. There was no celebration or war dance. There was only a sweet melody so soft like they were singing to their gods. My men were amazed and in awe of a heart felt song. How can these vicious warriors killed almost 10 Taliban and capable of singing a song so sad that made grown men cried? Amazing!

I went to basic training with 2 samoans and man i tell you what. Those guys are some of the toughest guys I've ever met in my life. If i had a choice i would bring those men with me to war any day.
Can confirm, in BCT the Samoan girl quickly became platoon leader. We became great friends but I never saw her after but. I sometimes wonder what became of her… she had soul and strength. She was the first ever Samoan person I’d ever met…she was tiny but she had such a loud voice and very commanding which is what put her at the top. Never heard anything like it now I know why

I lived in Oahu, HI where sometimes at night you’d hear ghost warriors marching through the valley like this with lit tikis. They’re called Night Marchers. Last time they ever marched was against King kamehamehas army that invaded from the big island Oahu was his bloodiest campaign before taking over all the islands back in the mid 1800s
In the mid 80s, while commanding a rifle company in the 25th ID, I spent a few weeks on the Big Island as an observer during the 100th Bn, 442 Inf summer exercises. As luck would have it, I spent my time with the company from Samoa. My craziest memory is of watching a platoon drop their rucks AND weapons to chase after a wild boar they had come across, eventually surrounding it and ‘dispatching’ it with knives. No packs of dogs needed by those men to hunt boars.

I tell you what people if you don't know this because the camera is from a distance...those are some big sonsa-bitches. Went to Afghanistan with a Samoan in our troop, he was about 6' tall and all of 240 pounds of meat and bone with a neck like my thigh. Apparently, he came from a family of 6 boys and he was the small one. Charlie troop also had a Samoan guy...this monster...I shit you not...all of 6'5" and he must of been pushing 280. So we're downrange in 2010 when a VBIED hits the Samoan's platoon (no casualties for us thank god), purposely omitting his name btw. They find the head of the bad guy and apparently this Samoan guy starts cutting the ear off the head for some kind of war trophy....when the first sergeant sees it and screams at him to stop...can you imagine what CNN would do with that footage? Epilogue...that was the Samoan staff Sergeant's SIXTH combat tour of duty.
Back in the days before Christianity came to Samoa, our ancestors were head hunters, the head of their foe was usually taken as a trophy and hung by the side of their war garments, this head would be collected or presented to our chief which usually gained fame and glory for that warrior. One Samoan warrior was known to build a wall of Skulls of all his enemies, the more skulls you had usually signified the warriors might.
They were even better when they were in the chow hall. I was only able to get a couple of minutes of them singing in the chow hall. But these guys were awesome during whole exercise.
So motivating I can't even stand it! They could sing about eating jelly beans and I would be pumped about it haha good stuff, respect too all my military brothers and sisters out there. (Semper Fi)

Feel this in my words when I say thank you too all Samoan people for this. It's incredibly impressive and increasing rare too see a people hold on too traditions so vast n well know over a population. I appreciate that because I truly am grateful to be born in the islands to experience exactly what you’re saying. I moved to Portland Oregon when I was 17 from Micronesia which is Polynesia’s less known cousin and we can also enlist in the US military like Samoans do cus some of us are US citizens like Guam and Saipan but the rest of us that aren’t US citizens can still enlist even from back home simply because of the relationship we have with the Americans since after they liberated us from Japan and you touched on the most valuable thing I hold on to from the islands and that are the stories I was told by my elders. Hollywood couldn’t write a script better although when the movie 300 came out that was the only movie that reminded me of Pacific Island legends I was told. So kudos to Hollywood they nailed it on that one there’s been great warrior movies don’t get me wrong but 300 touched on things I never seen movies touch on that I recall oral traditions speaking on like going to war against human hybrids. That’s very real to us as a matter of fact in my island I’m from a village called Toway and every village in my island has a moniker and my villages moniker is monster killers. Cus we had to go to war with Giants and hybrids so that’s why 300 is my favorite movie ever cus nobody did it like they did. Kept it real as far as I’m concerned

I served with a few samoan guys. A small one is like 230+ pounds they are naturally very large people. Some big Frickin Joes thats for sure! I wouldn't bet my lunch money arm wrestling one. Not even the women their big too. You want them as friends NOT Enemies!
I taught in American Samoa and I had 6th grade girls bigger than me and I am not a small person. Every day started out with a beautiful hymn. There voices are amazing.

lol I know how you fell man, I worked and lived in New Zealand for 2 years didn't know a soul, went and signed up with a random rugby club, was having 2nd thoughts because the team was full of samoan guys it was their family social team, then there was I the only white guy in the team any way turned out to be one of the best experiences not only did they accept me as a uso(brother) they had my back every time I got any trouble which was every game I think it was because I was the smallest in the team, the drink up's were the best endless laughs and singing. these guys are Assassins when it comes to mocking people but its all for laughs its rubbed off on me quite a bit because I now mock my wife, my samoan uso's they're funny bunch.

I served with a few samoan guys. A small one is like 230+ pounds they are naturally very large people. Some big Frickin Joes thats for sure! I wouldn't bet my lunch money arm wrestling one. Not even the women their big too. You want them as friends NOT Enemies!
I taught in American Samoa and I had 6th grade girls bigger than me and I am not a small person. Every day started out with a beautiful hymn. There voices are amazing.

Give me a totally cohesive unit of National Guardsman or Reservists that have lived, played, trained and worked with each other for years, and I'll put my money on them any day of the week rather than a fancy bunch of SEALs or SOCOM types to get the job done.

lol I know how you fell man, I worked and lived in New Zealand for 2 years didn't know a soul, went and signed up with a random rugby club, was having 2nd thoughts because the team was full of samoan guys it was their family social team, then there was I the only white guy in the team any way turned out to be one of the best experiences not only did they accept me as a uso(brother) they had my back every time I got any trouble which was every game I think it was because I was the smallest in the team, the drink up's were the best endless laughs and singing. these guys are Assassins when it comes to mocking people but its all for laughs its rubbed off on me quite a bit because I now mock my wife, my samoan uso's they're funny bunch.
