    I’m reading a brand new book about female inmates in Finland, and we have the same problems here. A woman was beaten up and r*ped during a holiday from prison, because someone had rumoured that she had been a snitch. She survived, even though the guy had had an intention to kill her. The police knew of this, but the woman didn’t want to press charges on the guy and instead wanted to handle things her way. When she was freed from prison, she proved to her beater that she was not the woman he had been looking for, and then managed to get other men to beat the r*pist up. The book was full of convicts explaining how they don’t trust the police and want to handle situations in private, by threatening the targets with violence. This is the usual outcome. Innocent people and bystanders get hurt, when a meth head rages.

    According to my abolishionist of a law professor the conditions in jail are intentionally kept worse than the streets so the poor and desperate don't consider jail as a housing option.

      If he was right, then that would mean that recidivism rates are near-zero. 50% of all inmates are re-arrested within 3 years-www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/85-002-x/2024001/article/00002-eng.htm#

    The issue with sex offenders in prison is often due to many inmates having a history of being molested and the fact that they get the lightest sentences.

    About the SA that happens in prison, I feel like your beliefs are correct but there's a third, they may have been assaulted themselves and is an act of revenge, even if that particular person was not the one that assaulted them. It is really sad how much assaults like these go unreported.

    Story 15 reminds me of the Rhoden family murder which happened back in 2016 in Ohio. The family of eight members was executed on their property (though not ten people as the story in this video). They were killed by the Wagner family. One member of the Wagner family had a kid with a Rhoden woman, but the woman refused to let him see the kid. The Wagner family wanted custody of the kid so they plotted the mass murder. The father of the kid finally turned on the family when the family was arrested, to avoid the death penalty.

    it is these stories that make prison somewhere you don't want to go, the gov't make it seem like a holiday in giving you tv, food and water and a place to work to make money for snacks lol oh and free healthcare. so these attacks and threats of sexual assault are what make prison bad.

    • @ruefiasco3608

      I do agree these stories will open up most eyes, but like in life there are going to be your skeptics ...yea "butt sex(speaking of prison) doesn't happen unless wanted ...but the occasional more than often mistaken identity is a real threat, as long as you stay to yourself and don't try to portray yourself as "prisons John wick" you'll for the most part be limited to audible and visual trauma, at the least...but there is no telling when or how a person like yourself at the moment kud snap leading to life cancelling circumstances, the prison system needs to reevaluate so tht this type of "institutionalized" mindset doesn't take hold ..they are prisoners being punished for any level of crime and wrong doing, but to subject them to a world devoid of any real logic doesn't correct anything only reinforces being a better criminal...speaking in general not a direct reply

    When it comes to sex offenders, turns out that many people who commit crimes were themselves abused in some way. You would be surprised how often that abuse was of a sexual nature. Not saying it’s all or even most people mind you. But there is a particular sort of rage that victims feel, especially male victims, and it only takes one or two such people looking to get a sort of revenge for what was done to them.

    A dude that owed a huge gambling debt from spades get tricked into a “ push up contest” with all the crips “ he owed money to like 3 of them” any way they was cheering him on making him go past his limits. Like go to failure than go 10 more past that than 3 pass that. Once he hit true failure they began to beat the ever loving shit out of the dude. Knocked him out like 1 minute into it and continued to go after the fact. The dude ended up getting flown out and paralyzed. All those guys was on camera and caught a attempted murder charge which most of them dudes was bout to hit they 85 mark “ most prisons/ jails just have you do 85% of your time with the rest served on probation” so basically they all gave themselves a life sentence over like 140$ in total and some ramens

Your opinion holds no water. You don’t know what it’s like having to constantly look over your shoulder for trouble. Take your judgment somewhere else 👍🏻
    A crime is a crime. There’s always a victim. Stop minimizing all crime compared to other crimes you find more abhorrent than others. ALL CRIME IS BAD!! Making excuses helps no one. So stop it.

    Many of these stories sound terrible. The guards sound terrible. It's all so inhumane. My choice is to stay out of prison. Fairly easy, don't break the law, don't even pretend to break the law. Prisons would not be needed if any of those individuals were safe to leave among non criminals.
    Of course, if a criminal convict is prevented from terrorizing or assaulting another criminal, those maintaining the prison are immediately accused of misconduct.
    How about public flogging instead of confinement?

    • @titaniumvulpes
      @titaniumvulpes 8 месяцев назад +2

      "Just don't break the law" is an asinine statement when you consider things like homosexuality, interracial relationships, and getting a blowie from your wife in the privacy of your own home are all things that are distinctly at risk of being illegal again pretty soon (or still are illegal in some parts of the world). In half of all states it's illegal to play poker in your own home among friends - people do it anyway, of course, because that's a stupid law. Where I grew up it was illegal to hang an air freshener from your car's rearview mirror. Most people did anyway. Where I live now it's illegal to make faces at dogs. Pretty sure everyone does that. Guarantee you're breaking laws every single day without even knowing and the only reason you're not in jail for it is that there's no political motivation to enforce them. Have you ever given a neighbour kid a few bucks to rake your leaves or walk your dog? Or been that kid when you were younger? If so, you're in violation of federal labour and tax laws. Drunkenly peeing in an alleyway can and does regularly get people on the sex offender list. Do you actually know and follow every single road law if you drive? Probably not. Have you ever picked up a bird feather? SUPER illegal, like hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines illegal.
      Now I'm not a prison abolitionist. I think that's frankly stupid, though I do think prison should be strictly for violent offenders. I just think saying "Just don't do crimes" is also incredibly stupid in a world that considers "being in public without actively spending money" a crime.

    • @OldManMontgomery
      @OldManMontgomery 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@titaniumvulpes What an ignorant statement. Not being able to distinguish the distinction in penalty for urinating in public and armed robbery.
