I was stationed in the army in fort Ord California I'm from Port Aransas Texas in an avid flounder fisherman went fishing on a charter vessel in Northern California at 18 years old and caught a halibut and I told the deckhand that's the biggest flounder I've ever seen he started laughing and said you must be from Texas LOL

I'll never forget the time I got to spend a week in Alaska with my dad when I was 16. It's one of my absolute favorite memories and to this day almost 15 yrs later I want to eventually go back and spend a whole month.

I love Seward, was stationed in Anchorage back in 2001-2004 when I was in the Army. Fishing there is amazing, got to fish every day for 3 months working as a deckhand at the Army resort there in Seward. The scenery is spectacular, so much wildlife to see. God definitely blessed that land and the people there. Great video Rob, thank you so much, this brings back so many memories. I love DMFD.

Glad you're okay! My uncle once got a hook right in his eyelid, it was a miracle how it didn't get into his actual eye since the eyelid is basically touching it. Luckily I had some mini bolt cutters to cut the barb off, he took it like a champ!
When Emma was giving the prayer I looked at Sarah & Rob who could not hold back their chuckle & that causes me to break out in tears too. Emma growing up so fast.

I just got back from halibut fishing in Seward last week. Our air bnb was only a few houses down from miller’s landing and we would have coffee there in the mornings we weren’t fishing. Thank you for the series. I get to relive my trip through your videos

My Dad and my Uncle use to go up to Alaska to fish every couple of years back in the 50's and 60's, and Halibut was a prime target for those trips.....
My Pop told me stories and showed me pictures that were remarkable compared to the fishing today.....
His guide would take them out on the bay after Halibut in a 16 foot aluminum boat "just for the halibut", you might say❓🤔❓
He had many pictures of trophy fish that my Dad and his brother caught up there.....
One in particular was a picture of a giant halibut laying in the bottom of the boat with the fins, like wings, hanging over the gunles of the boat, like the boxer being held up by the ropes of the ring, beaten but only after giving as good as he got in the fight.....
Back then it was possible to hook-up with halibut 300 to 600 pounds, rare but not impossible back then.....

fancy cheffing fish is great but I have no issue eating a fried piece of ling...A.K.A. Cobia.. by most of you guys...in the northern Gulf of Mexico we call them Ling...and they cook well in ovens and on grills.
