Pat knows he gave Butler very little to work with, doesn't he?!
A bunch of undrafted players, a Tyler Herro who is always injured, and a Bam Adebayo who is a great player.
That's it, this is the team Pat Riley gave Butler to play on and take to the NBA Finals twice.

No if they were healthy at least even 1 year like the nuggets and Celtics were they would have won a champ by now. 2023 Herro and Oladipo didn’t play and 2020 Dragic and Adebayo also didn’t play in the finals. What happened when the nuggets had Murray and porter out years prior, they lost right. The Heat are different in the playoffs than in the season it’s that Heat culture that makes them play harder and not choke like other teams do.

I am a thunder fan and I have been saying this since we lost to the mavs in round two. I think Jimmy butler would be a MASSIVE help on our team AND it would make sense. The thunder have assets unrivaled throughout the league, and jimmy butler is a seamless fit of a player who can be an elite defender who can also score. Not to mention his age which is to some a downside but to the thunder would be an upside in a sense because the thunder lack a veteran presence. Even more so if that veteran has playoff experience like Jimmy does. I think he would play well alongside Shai and Jaylen Williams, and I believe it would allow our team to be EVEN MORE defensively impactful on the wings than we already are. I don't know, it makes a lot of sense to me. I'd be interested to know what you think.

All three are still better than Butler (offence margin outweighs any defense).
DeRozan - has been significantly healthier, had added to his game, and is considered one of the best mid-range players out there, he just signed a 3yr $70m contract hardly anywhere near, near max.
Harden - is owed roughly $70m over the next two seasons. You can call that near max, but it is quite short, and it is one of those if WE don’t pay him we will lose him, without the ability to sign anyone else cause we already over the cap anyway kind of scenarios.
Paul George is your best case having signed a 4yr, $212m max contract with the Sixers. But he is nearly a year younger, was slightly healthier last season, signed his contract this season earlier (technically two seasons earlier because of age), and again is a better player than Butler.

@@sambeaumont395 Nah. Derozan is definitely the healthier of the 4 but is way worse than Jimmy. In terms of health, it would probably be Derozan, Jimmy, Harden, and then PG. Offense does not out weigh defense. Fact of the matter is Jimmy is the best all around player amongst the 4. His offense (scoring) may not be as good as the other 4 but it’s no slouch either. Derozan has been the healthiest and played the most games, Jimmy has been injured but when it comes post season time, Jimmy will still play. Harden has been dealing with his hamstring for couple years now and his lack of offseason improvement in terms of keeping his body good. And PG is always up in the air with injuries dealing with his ankle, hips, or leg. But based off each individual player’s contract, you can definitely argue which one is worth more or has a better value based off their age, health, availability, and just who is better. I only say this to say that because all 4 of these players are the same age where they are still good but getting older and getting paid somewhat the same amount

PG is really the only one who makes sense for the argument you are trying to make - highest salary, injuries, etc. but again he is signing effectively 2yrs earlier than JB would be as he signed his contract this year and is closer to being a year younger than the same age.
Whether right or wrong JB does have a reputation that may be seen as unfavourable, add this to signing at 36, injuries and for a legit contender being 2nd/3rd option - $55-70m should be considered a bad decision.
Not saying that he wont get it, just think it’ll be a bad contract, that it will impact teams ability to progress and may be quite hard to trade with luxury tax and aprons to be considered.
Of the four players, they all have their flaws, but I would absolutely pick Butler last.

      DD - $70m over 3yrs isn’t close to max.
JH - $70m over 2yrs starting this year, is both short, less than max and more tradeable than a true Max/near Max deal.
PG - $212m over 4yrs is pretty expensive but he is effectively starting the contract 2yrs earlier (signed this offseason vs next offseason, PG is a year younger).
Based on comments to date, JB is seeking something more like what PG got (but next years values), just he’s older than PG, will be even older again at time of signing, and also has a bit of an unfavourable reputation.
It is absolutely possible that some team will give him a near max deal, and to them I say good luck.
With luxury tax and aprons that’ll be a lot for a contender to spend on a 2nd/3rd guy.
And if a re-building team is looking to spend that money (to hit minimum spend) that’s a shame, because there is likely far better mentors out there that you can over pay.

3 thunder, experience is needed but SGA is already the leader and jimmy might disturb their “carefree” (I have no better word to use lol) atmosphere
    2 warriors
They need a second star BAD,that’s it,jimmy’s defence and mid rangers could also prove nice

Jimmy is going to retire in a heat jersey. Some things takes time. Not to take away from the fact that Jimmy almost made it happen with what he had twice.
The misfortune was that he ended up playing against Lebron 1st in the finals
Then ended up playing against a stacked Denver.
As for Pat's moves, that guy knows the game well. It's just that the right pieces hasn't been available and the ones that could have been a game changer costed way too much.
Kudos to Pat for being patient.
With that being said Jimmy chances are not all gone. The guys around him just gotta do their part. And that's any team he plays one. Which again i say.
JIMMY IS GOING TO RETIRE IN A HEAT JERSEY

    • @Dizzelsoul3542
      @Dizzelsoul3542 Месяц назад

      Pat was never patient
Old and lost it's passion to win was the direction he's now
After the Bubbles finals instead of improving the roster he let dawg Jae Crowder walk away in place of ineffective Moe Harkless
Kept acquiring blue collared, chinks in the armor Heat guy and walk away for nothing
Even PJ Tucker who eventually helped Bucks get the ring
Riley overvalued Herro and later labelled him as fragile
Jimmy steered the mediocre Miami Heat into 2 Finals and 3 ECF
After big 3 and pre Jimmy the Miami Heat was non relevant

Tough trade to make. The Heat are loaded with young talent and need to move JB. Move Jimmy to GS and mix in Brooklyn… who wants to lose. Try this trade… Warriors get Butler. Nets get Melton, Looney, and Wiggins. Heat get Kuminga and Ben Simmons. that works on the ESPN trade machine. Who knows? Simmons comes off the books next year or he gets lit. Exile him to Sioux Falls if he does not reform. Kuminga takes Jimmies spot at the three. Jimmy and Steph…. Playoff magic in the West.

Dude, if the Heat don't have Jimmy Butler.....they have another max contract to add to that same young core and......go right back to competing. As for right now, this is the best team Jimmy has ever had since he has been with the Heat.
Why can't you guys ever actually pay attention to this team and what it is doing? Please look into Pelle Larson, Josh Christopher, Keshad Johnson, Isaiah Stevens, and Kel'el Ware and realize that if the Heat can actually stay healthy for once, the entire league has a big problem on their hands that yet again, they will not see coming.
There is a reason Miami won the Summer League buddy, and it ain't Jaime Jacquez.

Whitesides numbers had nothing to do with spose system. He would have been able to put up those numbers anywhere averaging the minute he was averaging in Miami. The reason why the guy fell off is because right smack dab in the middle of his prime the NBA made a huge shift from the playstyle that he provided. It's the same thing with Andre Drummond it's the same thing with Greg Monroe.

Jimmy and Herro will be trade bait this year. The Heat may have to think of letting him walk if they can’t get someone else to take him. The guy has missed one-fifth of his regular season games for the past few years. Heat are already eating Herro’s and Robinson’s salaries. At least they’re young and can still be squeezed to get maximum worth. Same doesn’t apply to Jimmy. Who knows what he will do since it’s a contract year. If Riley let LeBron walk he’ll do the same for Jimmy if and when the time comes.
