I do a down, (pause for like half a beat) up-slap. I do this for the verse and pre-chorus, then it is easier to keep in time because your hand isn't moving superfast :) But then I do the superfast strumming for the chorus, heaps easier and if you're sorta beginning to strum that fast it makes the song sound good :)
