      Yeah buddy congratulations you got it =)
      Anytime I hear Eagles death leopard heart I think my dad..
      Real quick story so when I was growing up my mom was in the craft business we did 46 craft shows a year my dad drove truck for a dynamite company and then he would come home and he would put stuff together for my mom for these craft shows. He would also come home on the weekends load up the truck in the trailer and We Will Drive God knows where sometimes we’d end up in New Jersey.. but he would always play the Eagles or Def Leppard rare occasions heart sometimes Charlie Daniels.
      Idk it seems like forever when you’re in the moment it’s hard to believe it’s almost been gone for seven years.

      Do you know how to discovery channel does shark week I think we’re gonna do prewar month or something like that I wanted to do A parity week where every video is of the intro is a parity of somebody else like do the intro, like how Doug demuro says this, scotty Kilmer, car wow, hoovies garage, The list goes on and on I thought that would be really funny but I only wanted to do it for a week and I didn’t wanna do the whole episode like that just the intro

    Hi Jay!: LOVE how you find DIFFERENT and Interesting cars! The Chandler is VERY interesting! I like the early 1920's drum headlights and steps, instead of running boards! The disc wheels are also VERY early 20's! WTR#1 Royal Dispatch! #2 The Chandler again! Seems to have more styling than the other cars!

      I went on a wood run today in my 52 Chevy truck I got it back yesterday Universal got done.. it’s still not 100% it needs to go in for alignment I made an appointment about a month ago everybody’s been really backed up it’s going Monday.. i’m going to do a review on it like a three-year review I’ve owned it for that long talk about good bad the ugly there really isn’t anything super ugly other than finding some parts every now and then.. I drove 250 miles today and averaged 20 miles to the gallon which is fantastic and a 1 ton Dually truck that 70 years old.. but if I have to go to town like downtown Pittsburgh I will do everything I can not to drive the truck there because it’s really tight and I don’t wanna Park it on the street or sometimes have to go to the Hilly parts and park on a hill.. I’ve been places where parking isn’t a thing so I take the Prius for that =)

    Those fuel "filters" are called sediment bowls... (maybe you knew that but couldn't think of the name)... but yes, their purpose is to "filter" the fuel by allowing large particles to settle out into the glass bowl. The bottom one may have had an actual paper element or brass bead "rock" filter but the top one was just a sediment bowl. It appears to be in between the feed line from the tank and the "vacuum pump" or whatever it's called (but yes, it is a vacuum operated fuel pump), so it would be the primary "filter", to allow large particles to settle out before the fuel enters the "pump". Apparently they decided that wasn't enough, so they added another sediment bowl "filter" between the pump and the carburetor. I see there is also an electric solenoid operated valve there too, so likely the second filter and that valve were added fairly recently... though the sediment bowl may have been factory equipment and only the valve was added.
    Sorry, but I'll pass on all of those cars... ;P There were so many different companies back then, I think most people just bought whatever was available in their area.
    I know a lot of Eagles songs, but I didn't recognise that short clip of it. BTW, the Eagles are everyone's dad's favorite band. LOL

    • @What.its.like.
      @What.its.like.  10 месяцев назад +1

      Haha yeah
      I think this was the second car that I did when I was there a lot of people had fuel pumps that were vacuum operated by the fifth car I knew how it worked I just didn’t know how it worked there and I didn’t understand why there needed to be two bowls some of them only had one but there were a few that had two
      Thank you so much for sharing that explanation =)

    I know next to nothing about oldtimers, so this is fascinating. I do know about how much you can get in a Prius, which is more than you'd think.

    • @What.its.like.
      @What.its.like.  10 месяцев назад

      That’s why I showed it when I delivered the cabinet the guy was like how do you get here and I said I’d put this in a Prius and he could not believe it.. an 8 foot cabinet would fit inside there but it can’t be as wide as that one was
      If it was 28 inches wide instead of 30 it would fit in there no problem. The Prius is my appliance car but it gets 40 miles to the gallon I have a 52 Chevy truck I’ve done some modifications to it yesterday I drove 250 miles and got 20 miles to gallon average out of it.. there’s a few more things we gotta do to it but I think we might be able to get close to 22. I would love to put a two speed rear ended it put 290s in it and then it might get even better than that but I don’t have the budget to do that right now and it will probably never get done if I’m honest. I’m pretty happy with the results going to do another episode on it when it gets all done.

      I have a Gen 2 like you - 2006, 192k miles - and I'm currently getting an indicated 51.8 mpg Imperial. Your 40 mpg US equates to 48 Imp., so pretty good. I drive a lot slower than I used to (55-65 mph on motorways and main roads) so that'll have something to do with it. Is your Chevy a 216 or a 235? Three/four-speed or auto? Or maybe you've upgraded?

    Glad to see an actual Chandler, and in my favorite color. Read vintage ads about Chandler, Paige, and Apperson from old magazine ads in the public library . First pick, 1923 Chalmers, second. 1923 Hupp.Ergonomics wasn't thought of with straight instead of drop center frames and narrow door openings.

    The oil and gas thing on the dash - while I'm only speculating - is probably a record keeping device. At every service stop, you'd dial in how much gas and oil you purchased. You could use the record of how much gas you've used against how many miles you drove to get your MPG. Same for the oil. And you'd be able to see if oil or gas consumption was going up. Probably the precursor to the trip computers we have now that tell you MPG. Might've even been an aftermarket add-on, judging by its odd placement on the dashboard and the fact that it's nickel plated when the rest of the instruments are chrome plated.

      One way to start a new company was by building an assembled car. That means buying all the parts from specialists and assembling them into a car. There were companies that specialized in motors, transmissions, axles, frames, bodies etc. You could order the parts and put them together, the way you can put together a computer out of parts today.
      Ned Jordan started up a new company to make a car called Jordan. The chassis, motor, etc were quite conventional but the bodies were copied off the latest custom built designs, and he specified the most expensive upholstery material, gauges, and accessories. So he could sell what appeared to be the latest custom style car for a bargain price. His first model was called the Playboy. He sold 1000 cars, made a $1000 on each one, and therefore made a million dollars in profits.
      He said he did this with an assembly line only 50 feet long.
