Holmes’s career was interesting. He looked shot after Spinks, and especially when he was KO’d by Tyson. Then he took some time off, saw Foreman come back and said “Hey, I can do that!” And he had a very good second career. He learned to play rope a dope, staying on the ropes to avoid wasting energy, and counter-punching beautifully. Watch his fight with Mercer. It was a counter-punching clinic. This version of Holmes might have given Tyson problems. Holmes was in better shape physically and especially mentally than in their fight. Holmes might actually have had a chance in this fight by staying on the ropes and counter-punching. But when Holyfield got the cut, Holmes felt obligated to come off the ropes and attack him, and that’s when his whole defensive strategy got thrown out the window, leading to his loss on points.
For those who keep rejoicing at Tyson's defeat against Holyfield should watch Prime Tyson against Holmes even younger than him at this fight. Holmes a legend but lucky to leave the rings alive!

@@solomona1300 Holyfield. Google Evan Fields Balco Labs.
Very interesting. They're fighting like Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier.
Complimenti a larry olmes uno dei migliori pesi massimi degli ultimi 40 anni
Larry was going at it like the champ he had been for years 😮😢😅
I wanted to see this version of Evander Vs Prime Mike Tyson 💥💥💥
Mike tyson >
@@LIRIDON-lf8sm bullshit
Holmes legendary. Holy turd average. You never hear him mentioned among the greats.
For those who keep rejoicing at Tyson's defeat against Holyfield should watch Prime Tyson against Holmes even younger than him at this fight. Holmes a legend but lucky to leave the rings alive!
Looks like a even fight to me
Larry Holmes should've won this fight.
Hollyfields style was up Larry Holmes alley and he was emboldened by it and did quite well against him.

Such a different fight than the Foreman fight.
Mike Tysons interview with Vlad brought me here .. I had no idea they fought but then again I was only 12 when this came out ..
Same here
Holmes slh satu petinju jls berat terbaik sepanjang masa
Evander was a lion. Larry was a good champ.
In the first century people cheered as gladiators tried chopping each other’s heads off. I love watching a good boxing match but I couldn’t imagine cheering for people with swords as they kill each other.
I think Larry should have stayed in the middle of the ring with his great jab and straight right
the legs dude. At such age the legs are very important. Foreman could stay in the middle cause Holyfield respected his punch. Holmes was pure boxer but an aging one, not a slugger.
rope a dope.
Larry Holmes won in reality, but back then you had to damn near TKO/KO your opponent to dethrone them and take their title. Also, Holyfield was the aggressor 90% of the fight. Back then judges would score a lot of blocked punches. Back then judges mostly cares about activity and aggression. Even though Holmes blocked most of Evander’s punches, they looked like clean shots to the judges! Plus, the boxing world had a lot invested in Evander Holyfield at the time. 🎯💯
Lol...Holmes clearly lost. Out punched, out boxed, out classed.
@@idx1941Holmes was 43 years old and still gave Holyfield close fight.Holmes from early 80 would kill Holyfield.
@@thegodfather1924True that! And prime Holmes's movement would have prevented Holyfield from landing much of his shots.
Holyfield was never a ko artist He wins these fights but by attrition.Tyson was at his peak when he ko'd Holmes and that was one of Mike's best wins
Boxeadorsaso Larry Holmes
Good fight 👏 both from Georgia 🇬🇪 look mommy 👩 georgee boys 👦 💙 👏 😍
Old Larry Holmes fought Evader Holyfield better than Tyson did Holmes ability to take a punch has always been amazing. I wish Holmes arm didn't get caught up in the ropes 's Tyson so that he may have finished the round he got K,,O in.. With his heart he may have finished the round and possibly the fight.
good fight, Holmes robbed. tyson was never the same fighter after 1988.
Holmes is a legendary fighter but I don’t think Holmes would have last another round with Tyson. Mike kept knocking him out.
And Tyson knocked Holmes down something Holyfield couldn't do. Holmes in his peak would have beaten Holyfield
@@SDSen rightly so
what do you know avbout boxing, fight back then where more rigged than this present time.
Larry is teacher for Evander
Mr. Holmes 👍🏻💥🥊
Damn I ain’t know Larry was sharp like that low key
i never liked Larry Holmes....
He Didn't Have to Beat Muhammed Ali the Way He Did
i was SO HAPPY When He was Beaten By Michael Spinks, TWICE And Mike Tyson !!!!!
Why didn't Ali's corner throw in the towel then? What was Larry supposed to do, play patty cake? Blame Brown for letting the fight go more than 2 rounds.
Ignorant comment - what about all the parasites feeding off Ali pushing him into that fight knowing his condition? Or the fact the referee should've stopped the fight far earlier? Nah let's just rant and blame Holmes.
Oh this madafacker Holifild he is so juice up he didn't feel any punches straight cheating
Who is ur sparring partner... Muhammad ali
Food for thought: Tyson the only one to KO Holmes
