- Join me and Laura on Day Seven of our July 2024 Orlando Florida Holiday! We start off heading straight to Universal Orlando Resort to visit Volcano Bay water park. After an eventful and disappointing visit, we left after an hour and changed our plan for the day, heading to Disney World to visit a resort we had never been to before, Wilderness Lodge for a Disney breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe. This resort was amazing and somewhere we would love to stay in the future.
After a short break and a nap at the Villa we head back to Universal Orlando resort to visit both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. I tried a gorgeous new slush drink as we ll as having fun on Popyeyes water blasters. Being in the parks in the evening was fantastic as we managed an evening ride of Hagrids Magical Motorbike Adventure and also a night time ride in the dark on Velocicoaster. To round off a brilliant day at we watched the new Hogwarts Spectacular Castle show.

In terms of our Volcano Bay experience, as i state in the vlog, people should still go and experience it. We just felt the vibe was very off, 4 staff members said different things, some were very frosty too... Universal accepted there had been mistakes hence the reason they gave us a refund. We will always show our true experience, we’re not paid/sponspored or gifted to say constant positive things in vlogs. This was our true experience that day.. we were excited to go, bought shoes and everything but once we were in there the vibe was just off and we didnt feel like spending anymore precious holiday hours in the park and took our refund and changed our day and turned it into a fantastic day that we really enjoyed in the end 👍🏽😊 this doesnt mean you shouldnt go or you will not enjoy it, its just how we felt..we still have tickets to use and may give it another go next time…we were excited but that was quickly dampened and we felt we could have a better day doing something else, which we did..we’re not affraid to mix things up and not every person will get the same experience in these parks, off days happen, we just dont feel the need to butter it up in vlogs..it wasnt great, we left, still recommend you try it but thats it 😊

The women at the ride entrance did seem quite rude tbh. Also for your reservations which are close if it lets u modify the date to any time in the future, then you should be able to cancel it. Well that used to work it might be different now 😂

I don’t think you should be allowed to film in a water park to be honest😅 Universal don’t allow filming in rides in the parks so VB would be the same🤷🏻♀️ VB can be hit/miss but I’m sure Disney water parks are the same cost wise!😅
Not everyone has a Disney annual pass to get into every park 🤷 I agree, filming in a water park is a bit strange. It's the same vibe as filming at a pool imo 🤷
Still classed as a public space, they dont allow filming for safety which is fair enough..we just got an off vibe day..
FYI for anyone visiting for the first time: little research is required beforehand to know what to do re lockers, beds, filming on slides etc. It’s a shame you couldn’t put aside vlogging for one day and get the most out of that express pass!
We were happy to continue without filming slides but the vibe was just moody, see the staff member in the video..just felt unwelcome after spending $515….
We said as soon as you entered the V.B we knew you would walk out 😂,we go V.B in july/aug with no issues most rides you can just walked on etc you dont need the fast passes. just tap the raft ride as soon as you go in ,plenty of shade to the back of the park . Just dont stress as it seems you are doing that alot lately 😢
No stress, just wasnt a nice vibe so we left, rest of the day was great 🤩 we never planned to walk out, we were excited, bought water shoes the lot
People travelling from UK can sometimes get Volcano Bay for free with their 14 day explorer ticket as most places offer 3 parks for the same price as 2 park tickets (Orlando Attraction Ticket do this most of the time) or a very little extra cost for the 3 park ticket. So getting Volcano Bay tickets is not expensive if you plan and don’t buy on the gate tickets! Get there for park opening and go and tap in for a ride straight away before you go to the lockers. Then you can get yourself ready while you are waiting for your return time. There are also lots of rides that are ride now while you wait. If you are staying onsite you get early park access and will get to ride four of their most popular rides including the aqua coaster with no wait at all before public get let in. Please don’t let this vlog put you off going. I’ve been many times and had a great day every time and it’s not expensive at all. Never bought express and always done everything by lunchtime. I knew as soon as he walked in he would moan about it, took too long getting tapped into a ride and then just moaned and didn’t get it a fair try. Should have just put the camera down, had a great day and told us about it after! Not a fair look at volcano bay at all.
Just checked and it’s an extra £1 on Orlando Attraction Tickets to add Volcano Bay to your 14 day 2024 tickets! So not expensive at all!
What if you dont want to buy a 14 day ticket? What if you decide you’d like to go whilest you’re already in Florida? Also we did get there for when it opened, 9AM.. as we walked into the park the screens already showed 100 mins for some slides, crazy..early entry was 8AM which we didnt have..you can put the blame on us and defend VB all you wish, but we wouldnt have got a refund and the apologies we got for various things and guest services if it was all so perfect as you are suggesting. As i said in the video, people should still go and try it, but that was our honest experience..people dont like it but at least we’re honest, Orlando isnt perfect
Volcano Bay was my favourite park in Orlando after IOA and Studios. Insane park. Make sure to do research before hand as it can better your understanding of the park!
True, but research cannot guarantee what experience or staff you’ll get on the day you go unfortunately
Volcano Bay is excellent - as long as you research it before you go. We go as it's included in the 14 day 3 park ticket and we stay on site. Get there for early entry, tap straight on to the aquacoaster and then go and get on the ride now slides. Once it gets a bit busier we spend most of our day in the fearless river. It isn't really a park you can just rock up to and get the most of though without knowing a bit beforehand.
We’ve been to VB a few times, as part of the 14 day 3 park pass. Didn’t have a problem and really enjoyed it. You could almost tell you weren’t going to enjoy it from the outset, maybe down to cost?
More the vibe, moody staff, badly sign posted and the minute you step in it was constant upsell..we were excited but that was quickly dampened and we felt we could have a better day doing something else, which we did..not every person will get the same experience in these parks, off days happen, we just dont feel the need to butter it up in vlogs
@@TheKnightStrider Suppose it would be boring if everybody liked the same things. Granted I don’t have cameras etc but if you stay at cabana bay, you can walk in a separate gate, no parking charges or car parks to endure, all I had was a waterproof phone holder round my neck, no need for a locker and I didn’t bother with express pass.
It felt from the start of the vlog you wanted to complain.Volcano bay is great super easy to navigate and a fantastic day out don’t let this put anyone off.
I disagree, we were excited to go, bought shoes the lot, but the vibe was awful when we got there, staff didnt know what they were doing etc..i do say in the vlog people should still go, just think we got an off day (again)..in terms of navigation i disagree again, every slide sounds the same and when you buy the fast pass its really hard to find out what slides are included and which are not..

I completely agree with Volcano Bay. We went once and never again. We much prefer Typhoon Lagoon. As you say, no faffing! Much easier and less complex. The way that woman rolled her eyes at Laura when you went into that slide really wound me up! Glad you guys left!!
I thought that too, maybe tiredness etc they are both normally positive and cheery but sometimes the heat etc can take you over and you don’t realise
I did think that girl at the slide were they asked which was the express line was a bit rude though she didn’t seem at all friendly
Volcano Bay is worth it if you get the 3 park ticket from Attraction tickets. Went last September. Parking & having to get the bus is annoying. Was quiet when I was there. Everything was a walk on. That was at 10am. Use your vouchers if use go back in September/October. It’ll be a completely different experience. Love the vlogs

Best waterpark in Orlando by a mile I’ve been at least half a dozen times never needed the express pass managed to get on all the rides each time without express seemed to me the dummy came out the pram when they told you you couldn’t film but in all honesty how did you not know that beforehand anyway really enjoying your Orlando vlogs so far 👍🏻
We knew you couldn’t film on them all, also happy to leave the camera and vlog inbetween..Camera was one of many things, including that staff members attitude which seemed to be the vibe across the park..we’re glad you left and switched up our day as we enjoyed what we did in the end 🙌🏼

The key to Volcano Bay is tap straight into the aqua coaster, then ride the other slides while you wait. I’ve never felt the need for express pass, and if there are long waits, just do laps in the rapids! There is plenty of shade available if you avoid the main “beach” area, and I find the whole park to be quite well covered anyway.
Absolutely perplexed at the Volcano Bay decision to leave. Surely your first thought is to enjoy the day not film everything? What a bizarre outlook and a complete waste of a day and money!
Wasnt all about filming, staff were abit rude and we wanted to spend our time elsewhere in the end, we didnt feel welcome camera or not..we are so glad we left as the day turned out great 👍🏽
I personally don't think you should be allowed to film in water parks. Why don't you and Laura not just enjoy your day at the parks, or is all just about blogging.

We got our straws thrown at us,ended up with 15 bottles of ketchup, I got a ginormous sprite and my son got his cell phone wrapped in foil for using it at the table! By the end I was doing I’m a little teapot to the whole restaurant 😂

I have never felt the need for fast passes thought tapu tapu was a vr que so dont get it ? And have also never experienced the problems you faced always love this park
Why do they sell them then? As soon as we walked in at 9AM some slides were already 100 min waits and you cant tap in to every ride you have to tap in, use it, then you can tap into another..alot of waiting around inbetween

I went to volcano bay in Feb this year when you were here. 24 degrees, park was empty. RIDE NOW - on the aqua coaster all day so did it 10 times. Really great cocktails.
Everything being walk on took the streets out of the tapu bands
Did everything twice by 2pm then went over to velcicoaster.
Maybe try the winter months for your free return tickets.
Discovery Cove is head and shoulders above Volcano Bay!! Went to both parks in 2022 and lasted 3 hours in VB before leaving. It was far too busy, staff were rude. Discovery Cove on the other hand was amazing. They only limit entry to 1300 people per day and you never feel like it's too crowded. Food and drink included in your ticket price as well. I'll never go back to VB
Also did Velocicoaster at night and it felt twice as fast as during the day!!
That place was a bad experience for you that is for sure. You did the right thing when you left. You can only be honest about how you feel
Shouldn’t really be entitled to a refund if you’re not feeling the vibe, it’s your choice whether to stay or go

The only issue seemed to be that you couldn’t film on the slide? But that’s not what the admission price is for.
My favourite vibe walking into a park, will always be Universal! We went on our honeymoon 27 years ago, and have been going ever since. We don’t do Volcano Bay, I agree with you, it looks too much work for me 😂👍
That one cast member at VB seemed so rude, Laura was clearly asking where the fast past lane was and she was just nodding away?? 💀
That was kind of the vibe that day so we left, we must have been unlucky perhaps..there are no signs for fast pass, they were quick to sell us them but we were given no instruction on how they worked and it was hard to tell what slide we could or couldnt do with the fast passes we got

I actually listen to XL106.7 when I’m in the van every morning while at work. Trust me when I say this go to Volcano Bay April/May - Oct/Nov low wait, no crowds and as for filming phone in a waterproof bag (I had the same issue when I had my GoPro with me)

Our favorite tyfoon lagoon , relaxing at the wave pool and lazy river
We had a dreadful experience at Volcano Bay when we visited. We visited in May and it was a busy day. We arrived later in the day and the only things that we could go on were the rapids, lazy river and wave pool. We couldn't stand in a line for any ride without getting a ride time using the Tapu Tapu, and we were waiting to ride Krakatau for several hours, so we were basically sat around doing nothing for most of the day. There has got to be a better way of doing it and without feeling you have to chuck your wallet at the issue.

We enjoy your videos guys! We went midweek in November, the park was super quiet, we got sunbeds right in front of the volcano with shade, we rode the aqua coaster 5 times in row with no queues! Didnt have to park as we stayed in universal hotel so saved money. Had a two week universal 3 park ticket, so saved money again. Had a fantastic burger there. Had a great time no problem! Also if you want more free shade, head around the back of the volcano!! Sadly you can only video on the river rapids, but no slides.
From watching previous travel day vlogs where Andrew has spoken around dealing with anxiety, I can completely appreciate why he chose to leave volcano bay. When you pay for the methods made available to customers to make your trip to a park as stress free as possible (to help with things like anxiety), you expect them to work. It sounds like the no filming on rides was the final straw in the coffin for Andrew, who was quite obviously feeling the stress before this point.

I wasn’t a massive fan of volcano bay either. The wave pool was rubbish. Typhoon lagoon beat volcano bay hands down. But Siam park is my all time favourite x

We’ve been to Volcano Bay twice in June this year and we absolutely loved it both times. Our tickets were included in our Universal tickets so pretty much walked straight in. We had a debit card attached to our universal app, so that instantly linked with the tapu tapu so getting a locker was really easy. We took our refill cups with us and activated them as well. Overall, we didn’t find it too expensive and thought it was a really chilled day. Personally, I’d give it another go with the vouchers you got. Don’t let rude staff spoil the experience for you! :)

One of my kids absolutely adored the fast and furious ride… granted, he was 6…. But 😅
Me, my wife, and our 3 children returned c. 4 weeks ago, and we completely agree in relation to Volcano Bay. We felt it was too congested in comparison to Aquatica/Typhoon Lagoon etc. Whist the virtual queuing system is a good idea, the park as a whole is very congested and feels a lot smaller than other water parks. It is a massive money making scheme too i.e. hiring the best chairs in the shade for ££ + the lockers etc but they are all like that. We tried it, and we were there no more than 2 hours. Perfect for couples, but just didn't work out for us
little tip if you stay in one of the universal hotels like cabana bay and have a 2 week pass to the 3 parks, you can get in an hour early and get on the rides much easier and will have a over all better and chilled experience. from what you spent all around you could of stayed a night on a universal resort and got your moneys worth!

Hi Andrew and Laura, went o Volcano Bay about 7 years back when it first opened, went on 2 slides , had an overpriced lunch and left. The member of staff you saw at the slide entrance didn't look happy to be there, and quite abrupt I felt. What you paid was extortionate for that, my hubby was adding up the cost as we watched. Crikey... at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!! I'm glad you moved on and enjoyed the day after that. Ya live n learn kids 🎢
How much are the day passes for the 3 parks at Universal? Heading to Disney 2025, looking at doing 2/3 days at Universal Parks. Sorry if it has already been mentioned in your vids.
Hello amigo. We met Los Cristianos April from Belfast on the big Niagrara to Orlando road trip for a month now. Just left Volcano Bay which is great if staying in Cabana Bay so no parking and 2 mins walk. Loved Krakatoa aqua coaster last 2 days but today Sat 2 hr wait then they added an hour after tapping and showing 5 hour wait. Be careful on the fast rapid river as we call it the, drowning river lol. Still loving it. 😂
We go 3 times a year ( different months) and have never had to buy express passes. We stay on site and get in early and have been on every single ride at least twice by 11 am. Sometimes your information is bang off the mark, it’s because you have to drive to these places down the dreadful i4. You must realise that not everyone that goes to volcano bay needs express and cabanas
Islands of Adventure for me and Hollywood Studios. I also agree with your thoughts on Volcano Bay. We are in Florida just now and They could so a lot better with marketing and experience at Volcano Bay, Mind blowing at times. Mk and Universal studios are the ones which raise the hairs on our necks , and we know we are on holiday in Florida , that said as you leave Orlando airport arrivals , I agree with you Andrew you can beat that smell as you walk to the car rental pick up 👌

That staff member at the water park was incredibly rude!!!! Tbh the prices were ridiculous for a water park I think leaving was the right thing to do. Honesty is the best policy too
It was only expensive because it's not included in the annual pass they purchased. Most going to universal will be buying the 3 park ticket so no additional expense. It's actually very reasonable when you get there. And no need for fast pass if you're there for the day, you just look into best way to use your wrist tap queueing when you get there
You did good to leave. If you’re not happy you should be free to complain and ask for a refund. It’s not a relaxing day a VB. That staff members attitude would have made me see red.

I 100% agree about volcano bay! Me and husband went and didn’t stay very long! All this having to wait to go back and ride just felt like it’s to much for a water park they meant to be chilled days and we didn’t feel very chilled when there! Give us typhoon lagoon any day of the week xx

Andrew we did the same last year it’s an absolute mess and very disorganised, we went in the january and all the food stations were closed, left after 1 hour. I would never go again
The dvc rooms are really lovely stayed there post covid ! The territory lounge bar is really nice ! Geyser point is really nice bar/ restaurant! We stayed in copper creak , the pool is really nice as well not large but big enough ! The boat is quick and easy to magic kingdom and you see the water pageant as well !

I know you love Florida but try Yellowstone park one year, it’s incredible , I’ve been all over the states but that place honestly took my breath away 😮
I've done volcano bay twice, both times in March/April so not at the height of super busy times, never purchased the covered seats or ever found we needed them. Also I believe come 12pm the sun is that high up it makes little to no difference, you would a Need a cabana to really be fully covered.
Both times we stayed in the park for a good 8 hours so didn't mind waiting in the queues.
I found the best design of Volcano Bay is the Tapu Tapu bands, while you still have to wait in line you also have that virtual queue going too, would spend time in the lazy or crazy river before heading over to said ride.
The cost of lockers is mental, considering you do need to keep your stuff safe as well as parking costs too. Good to know Typhoon lagoon is free.
I think of you go at a time of year which won't be peak you will have a different experience for sure, hopefully universal see the video and pick up with the staff involved with your mix up as well as the poor attitude from the woman at the start of the ride.

We had some major issues in volcano bay couple years ago. I managed to get in touch with a senior manager. We were staying in royal pacific that time. They sent us chocolates and a £50 gift card but it did spoil our day. Back at aventura September so we will see ..

One of our DVC contracts is for Wilderness Lodge, it’s our absolute favourite deluxe resort in WDW. We had 2 weeks in Grand Floridian in May. BRV at Wilderness lodge is on another level!
Agree re Volcano Bay, we’ve had a couple of nightmare trips there and didn’t end up going at all last time even though it was apart of our tickets, we enjoy the wild rapids but wasn’t enough to take us back, personally find it too much of a faff but each to their own
Really enjoy your vids and we loved volcano bay when we went however it was September and the ticket was included in our overall pass. I think the cost and staff attitude tainted the experience which is a real shame but I would much prefer you be honest than sugar coating your experience 😊

I fully get your frustration, having paid for a fast pass for certain rides , you should know which rides are included on your fast pass , seems a very expensive day for a water park , given Siam park which having done multiple water parks around the world is definitely the best, certainly compared to Florida water parks
The lady at the entrance/queue to the slide was rude, she seemed very disinterested in her job and the paying customers whose day she might affect with her attitude!
However, I think the tapu tapu is a great idea because it means you can enjoy the lazy river or rapids or ride now slides whilst you virtually queue for the more popular slides without the need of a fast pass/express ticket.
I think it’s what you make of it, different people have different expectations and I think with having a waterpark as incredible as Siam Park right on your doorstep, does mean your expectations for other water parks is set very high.
A shame you didn’t have a good day but, I think definitely give it another chance in the future without an express pass on a more quieter day
Indeed, not every park will be perfect everyday, we are glad we left when we did and enjoyed our day in the end! We feel we should be honest with viewers with what we experienced, Orlando isnt perfect and rosey all the time, things happen, dont be affraid to mix things up 😊
In fairness, that women really didn’t have any manners, she was rude actually. I totally agree with walking out, Things like being spoken to like that just put a big downer on your day.
Sorry you didn’t have a good experience at Volcano Bay. I agree it is a bit complex with the Tapu Tapu and the lockers are a massive rip off! When we were there it wasn’t quite as busy but we tapped into the coaster and it was a 4 hour wait. We had a great day though hanging out in the lazy/fearless river and going on the slides that were ride now. Hope you go back at some point and have a better experience ❤

The video was helpful. I was astonished at the pricing structure for VB tbh, I’m surprised they didn’t charge for oxygen. Certainly has put me off going, always had a great experience at typhoon lagoon and aquatica so I wouldn’t bother going now unless it was free entry. $32 for the car park while Disney is free is madness.
I would still give it a try, i think we got unlucky but it is pricey if going for just 1 day

Wilderness lodge is beautiful. We visited there on our last night and got the boat into magic kingdom. That was our favourite resort out of them all too. How the other half live hey. Great vlog 👍🏻

and the lady’s attitude with the camera. I would say for me Volcano Bay is head and shoulders better than Typhoon Lagoon. I much prefer Blizzard Beach as a water Park over Typhoon Lagoon. We are going in two weeks and I am so disappointed that Blizzard Beach is not open yet again. I also think Universals Volcano Bay is so busy because the rides and atmosphere is so good. We stay at Aventura Hotel when visiting Universal and we can walk to Volcano Bay first thing in the morning and get in an hour early and we literally have done most of the rides by 11am. Suggest you try that on your next trip. Why do Disney only open one water park at a time when the cost of the ticket is no cheaper. Typical Rip off Disney in my eyes. Your thoughts. Keep up the good work as really enjoy your vlogs 👍👊

Well we value your opinion good and bad, that's why we follow you. The other water park you had been at with your mum and dad seemed far more easier as in where you walked to find where to go, it was more open. And paying to sit in the shade......

It’s an absolute fortune for a day out especially say if you’re a family of 4+, pleased you got a part refund and still enjoyed your day, the worker you spoke to was miserable as well!
I think you guys need to start putting yourselves first and forget about filming everything you do. Its a lot of money but remember your priority is you and Laura not us 😊
You’ve missed the point, filming was only one part of the issues we had..we got a refund due to other issues, filming was only one factor
