proprietary anything on a mtb to me is a no go. I like to have parts available to swap in and out as needed because it will break, even on an XC bike that isn't seeing too much rough stuff
I rented a fatbike with levels and only 160 rotors on it, and rode a snow packed DH trail and the best way to describe it was they were giving polite suggestions to the bike to maybe consider slowing down haha (I'm also used to XT 4 pots and 203s at both ends). Was basically holding on and praying to the bike gods that the tires didn't find powder on that section haha
XC & DC mtbs are the fittest bikes for the terrain that I have esp. so that it has a lot of challenging off-road climbs. Plus, I use my bikes for travelling to school/work & errands. This brand-new bikes are interesting! But the price... yay, very prohibiting to anyone with a tight-budget. Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
@@Rob-qo6md I'm actually planning to acquire either a Marin Team Marin 2 or Marin San Quentin 3 if they will be available here at my end. If not, I might be getting a Polygon Xtrada 5 or 7.
I am never able to finish Pinkbike video's. I'm sorry, but somehow the video's are a bit dull. I would only be able to watch it all, if I really wanted the bike in particular. The information in the video is not bad though.
Good video but the audio is terrible. It seems that you guys have audio issues often. No expert but maybe its time for a proper mic / head phone set up for the commentators? Maybe watch the video before you post it? I like your content but the audio needs work.
Man this proprietary shit is bad. I have raced xc on many bikes and i absolutely despise useless trickery and proprietary things, I don't want to wait weeks to get part X. At he moment I ride a previous gen spark upgraded to 120mm and I don't really see a bike that can replace it. At least the new spark is more appealing than this but still a lot of integrated mess and useless non adjustable le cockpit. The bmc color is nice.
80 mm on a downcountry........ Cannot agree more with the review. Your ass should be able to get as low as the LOW cockpit............ huge deal breaker. Waiting for the axs lockouts!
@@johnr5001 I have 2 years and 3k+ trail miles on my Spur and I couldn't be happier with the bike! The new Element is a great bike, too, no doubt. The Spur and the Element are so close in geo/weight that you can't go wrong with either. 130mm fork travel on the Element is a plus but 120mm on the Spur hasn't slowed me down at all. The Spur is FAST! I prefer the sharp lines and color options of the Spur over the Element. Spur also has a threaded BB vs. that creaky PF BB on the Element. 😁🤜🤛
@@daved2023 The spur really pushed the limits of what a dc bike can be for sure. The element just does everything better. It's lighter, has adjustable geo, a rear pivot, slacker hta, steeper sta, has a udh and actual bearings for it shock mounts.
Sarah and Matt's audio is clipping like crazy. Always though Mike was the loud one?
They let the intern do the post editing on this...
Mike's too at the end
Jesus the audio is terrible
I get that too, the audio levels some to change at like the 3 minute mark too. Is your video also choppy like it’s 20fps instead of 24 or 30?
Yeah the levels are all over the place, and there's some weird filter artifacts going on too with echo dipping in/out.
I have to say good job PB, this is the perfect team for XC/DC field test. Sarah, Levy, and Matt seem to really "get it".
proprietary anything on a mtb to me is a no go. I like to have parts available to swap in and out as needed because it will break, even on an XC bike that isn't seeing too much rough stuff
Probably more so on an XC bike where parts are shaved down to minimise weight...
@@chiefsilverback for sure I break my XC bike so often I sometimes have to race with the trail bike :-P
Stoked to see another field test roll out
Riding my Spec Camber for many years with 125mm dropper. I used more than 80mm once… riding the bikepark trail…
The next gen fourstroke just came out :/
Will be interesting to hear how these compare to last year’s DC champs (element, top_fuel) during the round table.
Too bad they didn’t get to test the latest model with the dropper that goes down on its on without the weight of the rider.
I found that Level brake with Sintered Pads makes it a decent trail brakes
I have the Level Ts and put new pads in and its night and day. Those brakes have some bite now, before they were…uhm… calm
Kevlar pads on the Level TLM on my wife's bike has been nice.

Gain structure on those mic's is borked!
You would comment on that!!! 😂
@@Charlotte_MTB To be fair, it's not subtle. They should have rerecorded.
@@Charlotte_MTB I was trying to watch this subtly at work and then !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP! WTH!?!?
@@Charlotte_MTB I also feel "professionally obligated" to point out bad audio 🤣
I own this bike. Mine came with 3 spacers (30 mm)
Sentiers du moulin is amazinggg
How does it compare to Scott Spark RC ultimate?
I'm looking for a bike for all terrains, but I don't know what the prices are and which one to buy
Big Money Cycles
Really great frame designs though
Timbuktu insert was 1,000% worth the effort

just get a modern 120 - 140 trail hardtail

"Or maybe just a cable fetish".😂
2 XC for my taste, nice British racing green, cheers
It's not a 'new' bmc though. They released a new model just a few weeks ago
After seeing the latest Hambini show I am a bit sceptical in rgds of bmc quality
$9k USD and it only comes with mid tier alloy wheels & bottom tier drivetrain??!! Ditch the AXS, go with Silt XC Carbon Wheels and XO1 Drivetrain.
Integrated droppers sound like a nightmare.
is it just me or is the audio off?
8:51 Bug: how is this thing going😅
Audio is trash on this video. Hope they get better mic editing next time
Why review the old version?

Audio definitely needs some work.
It came with a slammed stem? What if you have long legs? Just eff off?
holy shit fire your audio guy
Proprietary, Integrated. Can’t wait for the website comments!
This vs Izzo
Technically its not dual link. There's a link at the bottom pivot. The top is apart of the rear triangle, there is no top "link".

I'm still waiting for the Downcountry bike with a 77* STA and 65* HTA? Most of these DC bikes just aren't slack/progressive enough.
Spark is kind of OK
Also Canyon Spectral is slack enough
depending on the travel you would like to have
Wouldnt that push it more into the trail category?
Banshee Phantom
Rocky Mountain Element?
Rocky Mountain element is 76 and 65
BMC stands for Big Monster C…
Chupacabra?
When did downcountry bikes become xc bikes that aren’t race spec….I see 1 “downcountry “ bike in this test and it’s the rsd
Downcountry isn’t real
