Im guessing this is in Stockholm and there is actually a word for this in Swedish called "stockholmsdusch". Meaning that the space is so small you need to shower on your toilet. Anyway most likely this has to do with Boverkets construction rules. The turning space withing a bathroom has to be 1300 mm at minimum in diameter.
As a Stockholmare I've never seen this before. I wish my bathroom had a shower over the toilet. Shit and shower, what a dream. I have to share a shower with my neighbour's.
@@fillezzo Ya, I grew up camping in Northern Minnesota and our RV had such a small bathroom you literally had to sit on the sh*tter when you took a shower and the shower was the ENTIRE small bathroom. I suppose it made cleaning easier since with every shower the entire bathroom got clean LOL. Don't forget to close the cover over the toilet paper though, otherwise, the paper will be soaked LOL. One other thing of note: When you took that shower you had better wash fast as the size of the water heater was only 5 gallons. When you figure you use half of that just to get the water to the right temperature, you know when rinsing off it is going to be fully cold water by then LOL.
I live in Sweden now as well, and in fact, have one of these toilets right next to our shower in the downstairs bathroom. However, as a male, whose legs naturally splay out, it's nice to have the toilet position in such a way that my knees aren't pressing against the wall. So I actually appreciate it!
Over 30 years ago, while living in a house that had plumbing added in after it was built, we renovated the bathroom. The room was so tiny, that a regular toilet would cause you to bang your knees against the tub. So we actually found a corner toilet, with a triangular water tank! And lived happily ever after. 🚽
My guess are that all these toilets are in central Stockholm where the prices are soo high for apartments even tiny ones so instead of sacrificing a whole room for bathroom they build them small or this is the second bathroom made out of a closet so that you can write in the ad that it has two bathrooms and charge/ask for more money... Stockholmare in a nutshell!
In towns with old buildings this is typical. My mom lived in a old building before and the toilet was in a old closet. So when they remodel the toilets they need to comply with the law for toilets.
There are rules for how close a toilet can be to the wall. And when you rebuild a bathroom sometimes the wall gets thicker. So you have to put it on an angle.
Having lived in Stockholm for over 40 years I can say that I have never come across this. Going from the pictures it seems like it might be related to small bathrooms, but again I've never seen this in any of the small ones I've been in. I guess it could it be some newfangled thing.
Especially in old houses, the spaces are small. And if you're a larger person, it's hard to sit on a toilet that's in line with the wall. (..and do "toilet stuff"..) To angle the toilet is a way to make it work even in a small space. Though, in newly built houses, the toilet must be disabled-friendly. So "snea toaletter" only applies to renovated old apartments. 🙃
When my sambo first moved to Stockholm (from Örebro actually ;) ) his first place was so small, he couldn't go to the bathroom with the door shut. Which makes you ask - why have a door?!!
My parents have that kitchen sink and yes, it is indeed horrible. Very small; water goes on the counter every time you rinse a plate; and the corners on the bottom are so square, they need constant cleaning and scrubbing. The one in this picture is extra confusing though, you're supposed to pull the lever sideways to get water but there's a wall there...
The sink is called a bar sink or prep sink. It’s for catching scraps if it has a disposal attached. It can also be used to rinse utensils or hands during meal prep. I’ve also seen it used to hold wooden cutting boards that you wouldn’t want to put in a regular sink with other dishes.
Most of these examples is about giving you leg space so you don't have to sit super tucked up against the wall. The odd overall layout is due the limited space. I imagine small apartments in e.g. NYC also have to have some clever space saving designs? Most bathrooms in Sweden are not like this, is the take-home message.
😂🤣It's true about the toilets⁉⁉Had no clue Tyler's own very charming wife was the comedy mastermind behind all the pop-up jokes on Zeducation. Just found Tyler about a month ago on YT. Subbed to both. And now I got Swedish Toilets to show my amigos.👊🏻🤣
Houses from several hundred years ago they remodeled and devided apartments to fit more tenants. People in Sweden understand the value of old culture and architeckt built houses. We Keep the old houses instead of demolish it and build 500 feet high concrete boxes.
I can't have that! I'm particular about my water closets.. I only do square business. I say "Y'all Swedes Shape up or ship out". Don't make an easy thing hard! *That's the worst thing one can doo in a loo :0
I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen this irl... In the house we lived in when I was a child we had a really small wc. It was literally about 1,5×1m. There was just enough room for a sink, toilet and trashbag. The toilet was not like this, it was just normally placed but it must have been horrible for my parents using that cause even I, kid-size, wouldn't sit on that toilet correctly 😂 Like I would sit on the toilet sideways instead, idk how to explain better... also it's really weird even writing this... 💀 anyway and it probably wouldn't have been any better if that toilet was placed in any other way either cause it would take more of the already small "standing space" between the sink and the door. My childhood-home-toilet-rant is over now 💀
I am from Slovakia, not caring about Swedish toilets at all, no idea how I got here (magic of the internet/youtube), but you have such a smoothing soft voice that I could fall asleep just listening to you talking about anything and nothing. And I'm still at work. Wow. Do you do voiceovers? If I'll ever decide to do audiobook from my book (it's a children's book) your voice could do miracles...
This could have been the topic of an entire Seinfeld episode back in the days. I can totally see George getting more and more upset as he can't seem to find a toilet positioned in a right angle to the wall. 😂
Could be crowded city where people split apartments and add a new toilet for the new apartment. Add rooms with weird angles, tight places and your toilet may be placed weird. Just my guess.
My bf have a toilet that's not standing straight and it's quite a big bathroom. no reason for it to not be straight. and yeah. it's weird but I've accepted it as a way of life.

Also, the W.C was introduced after some of the buildings were built already.
No way!! This is definitely Stockholm. 😂 Thank you for the explanation!

Never seen it either, 40yrs ...

You are spot on why They made the stand in that position. Tall people needs more space for their legs! Easy piecy! 😁👊✌️
Almost looks like an AI made pictures of bathrooms and didn't know what to do with the toilet

Never seen this anywere in Sweden but once in Dublin in a hotel 🙈
So your legs aren't crammed against the wall, genius 😂
My guess are that all these toilets are in central Stockholm where the prices are soo high for apartments even tiny ones so instead of sacrificing a whole room for bathroom they build them small or this is the second bathroom made out of a closet so that you can write in the ad that it has two bathrooms and charge/ask for more money...
Stockholmare in a nutshell!
I’ve been to Sweden more times than I can remember and have never seen this!! Where in Sweden is this?
This is not typical. It’s just really bad installations. Most likely not done by a professional tradesman.
In towns with old buildings this is typical. My mom lived in a old building before and the toilet was in a old closet. So when they remodel the toilets they need to comply with the law for toilets.
It’s a new decorating style called RV chic.
😂 im dying. This is comedy gold.
That voice over sounded like the start to a prince song
It is to have more space for the legs.
Im Swedish. Never seen this in my life.
That must be smal flats or order houses.
But I have never seen any one puting a toilet like that.
It's a fox hunt for the pillow
😂
Well its nice to be able to have your leggs as you want lol
All of these look like amateur work. If a pro does that, it's out of strict necessity, and not because an architect wanted it like that.
lmao
maybe you just need to tilt your head
I don't care
I've never seen that and I've lived in Sweden for 45 years.
never seen this in my whole life living here
Same just making up shit
These toilets look like introverts at a party
You mean Swedes at a party!? That's the answer! Those toilets are a metaphor of how awkward Swedes can be at parties
never seen this here, and I live here, hah.
There are rules for how close a toilet can be to the wall. And when you rebuild a bathroom sometimes the wall gets thicker. So you have to put it on an angle.
This is because you then have more room for your arms and legs when you sit down.
Why do u need room for flailing arms and legs while pooping? Eat more fiber my friend and good luck
Having lived in Stockholm for over 40 years I can say that I have never come across this.
Going from the pictures it seems like it might be related to small bathrooms, but again I've never seen this in any of the small ones I've been in. I guess it could it be some newfangled thing.
Because its easier and much cheaper to adjust the toilet rather then the walls.
I’ve never realised this in my entire life, hahaha! My toilet sits straight by the way 🤣
You know….if you put the toilet IN the shower you can accomplish 2 different things at one time…..talk about saving space!
Especially in old houses, the spaces are small. And if you're a larger person, it's hard to sit on a toilet that's in line with the wall. (..and do "toilet stuff"..) I never seen this were the heck in sweden dö you live xD
I've lived in Sweden my whole life and I've never seen this 😅😂

Why would your passion for straight toilet restrict my legs to not do 120 on the toilet?
Where in Sweden have you been? I've never seen this and I'm Swedish😆.
Maybe it's some false propaganda😎
Går bygg och har ingen anning alls. Säckert någon Stockholms trams
Only when the millenniums hiring wannabe handy mans from east Europa ! 😂
It's quite nice to sit in a corner.
Hmmmm I have hardly never seen this to be honest. Where did you get these pics?
where did you find these?
My guess; in old buildings (+100 years). New standards that has to be made fit with old standards. The result is often "unique".
My parents have that kitchen sink and yes, it is indeed horrible. Very small; water goes on the counter every time you rinse a plate; and the corners on the bottom are so square, they need constant cleaning and scrubbing. Not common at all in sweden.
The sink is called a bar sink or prep sink. It’s for catching scraps if it has a disposal attached. It can also be used to rinse utensils or hands during meal prep. I’ve also seen it used to hold wooden cutting boards that you wouldn’t want to put in a regular sink with other dishes.
I'm fairly confident there is not a single garbage disposal in this country. It's not a thing we do
I’m Swedish, living in Sweden, and I genuinely can’t remember seeing a crooked toilet here before. At least not on purpose.
Most of these examples is about giving you leg space so you don't have to sit super tucked up against the wall.

That would drive me crazy.
I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen this irl...

Jag är snart 70 och har bott i Sverige hela mitt liv och har ALDRIG sett detta!
Cause if not you'd hardly fit or be uncomfortable. ._.
It looks great. I love, anarchy through the medium of the toilet. Plus, love you mega, hot and funny.🌹
Toilets are also called "Thrones", so I think thats how they got turned to face ya, Your Majesty.😊
This could have been the topic of an entire Seinfeld episode back in the days.

Never seen this in my entire 38 year old life in Sweden :P. Starting to suspect a troll xD
Old buildings so these toilets is built in the closet. toilets was outside. I some buildings the shower was in the basement.
I feel I’m being lectured by a librarian or something listening to her speak
My bf have a toilet that's not standing straight and it's quite a big bathroom. no reason for it to not be straight. and yeah. it's weird but I've accepted it as a way of life.
Might be positioned like that to help with plumbing maintenance. 🤷
Thanks for editing zed. Subbed
I am born and raised in Sweden. I have never seen these toilets and sinks! This is so weird!
It looks like a lot of those toilets are situated so you can go #2 and throw up at the same time. The food must be really good there.
France maybe but sweden? That is odd.
Well they did make IKEA soooooo....
The first one I get. But some of them are just pure idiotic. 😂
They have to install them like that for the “manspread” haha
Never in my life seen anything like this and I live here 😂 that’s so weird
Idk why either, Meagan. I just know that we must stop these people by any means necessary.
To confuse the Americans. Beahahaha.
Might it be Feng Shui-related?🤔🤪
Tall people problems.
They moved the toilets to fit.
Must be a new trend. I've never seen the like anywhere around me.
The funny thing is that there are actual corner toilets that fit in corners.
Some are definitely not Feng Shui.
Never seen that. Let me know if you find the answer.
Swedish Non-Conformists
hi beautiful yes try Japan toilets
Whaaaat, never seen before, don't wanna see it again
Us in Sthlm trying to start a hip trend 😬
even tho they could be...and should be
i think it's for spread leg
This video is triggering my ocd lol
But the bathroom sink is huge
Why does this sound like what i would imagine a romantic novel audio book
Answer: Space
I dunno why but I like it!
So your knees can point out
My toilet is like this
Come back to the states!
More space
Haha wtf? 😅😂
Elbow room lol
Fan va sjukt😂😂😂
My mind could not take that lol. I straighten pictures on the walls of other peoples homes.
