Wow, what a hike. I always love me some Sky Pond, and you captured it splendidly! That little insert of me coming down the falls “the easy way”, was a hoot. That was a fun slide! 😂. Great job on the video, and as always, thanks for taking me along! ❤
If your mom is used to hiking and the elevation, I say go for it! Now nice that you want to hike with your mom! I love going hiking with Nick, as I get to see things I never thought that I would see! Once in a lifetime experience. Thank you for your nice comment.....and YES!!! MAGA in 2024!! ❤
Early Friday morning, getting ready for a hike, I woke up to find this beautiful iconic trek posted on RUclips, I always watch your videos on my large flat screen. It the best way to experience your hikes. Both you and your mom can step up that granite slab, at the base of the falls, with such ease. I look so clumsy because my legs aren't long enough. The best I can do is heave my right knee on the flat part and pray I don't fall off. It's getting icy out there on the higher elevation trails. Stay safe you two.
I want to go to Sky Pond and Black Lake next Sunmer. I just went to Mills Lake for the 1st time about two weeks ago and that was so beautiful! ❤ Love your videos! You always show how the trails REALLY are....rocky, elevation, obstacles, as well as the GORGE-ous views.
RMNP Classic…100% agree!!! Love this trail! We did Andrews Tarn on this day using Fire Trail thanks to you. We used fire trail last year when we did Sky Pond and will use it every time we’re on those trails. Thanks again Nick for another great video!
Awesome! Sounds like we barely missed you. Hopefully you got back before the rain. I do love the Fire Trail. We were talking to a local on the way up and I mentioned I had exposed the Fire Trail on my channel. He angrily-jokingly said, "It was you!!!" 😆
@@nicksangetta8874 Yeah, we missed you by 15 minutes! We hit the trail at 7am. We did get back before the rain but did hear a rumble after we got back into the tree line from the Andrews boulder field. We're just some Florida boys that hate Florida and hit RMNP every fall for great hiking and great craft beer! We hope to run into you some day out there. Been following your channel for a while. You do such a great job and love how you're not constantly begging people to "subscribe and smash that like button" like all the other annoying socialmedites. But lets keep the Fire Trail a secret moving forward lol.
I just downloaded my photos yesterday and sent a couple with you to my sister. Now I can send her a link to the video. What are the chances I'd run into you twice, and on the perfect hike, in the perfect place? Astronomical. Sorry to slow you down. Handed out three more of your cards and I've made a sheet to cut up for next year. Such a thrill. Thanks, Nick.
I did the Sky Pond hike on 10/04/23 but didn't make it to Sky Pond. It had snowed a little that morning and the temps were below freezing before sunrise. I started my hike around 6:30 AM and when I got to the falls the rocks were coated with ice. I didn't have spikes with me but tried to go up anyway. I started to slip and slide right and gave up and turned around. I'll go back another time and try again.I did stop at Mills Lake before heading to Sky Pond and that is a worthwhile detour.
Cant go wrong with Mills Lake! One of the best backgrounds to a lake ever with Glacier Gorge behind. That waterfall gets slick even with no ice. Those rocks have been smoothed down. I dont blame you for turning back.
Hi Nick! My SIL and I are planning our family trip to RMNP in July 25. We have been using your videos to help us decide how to spend our days in the park! I am curious about the Fire Trail... I can't find it on the map; is it possible it was renamed more recently or is this a trail you have to hunt up on your own? Thank you so much for your videos!!! We can't wait to come hike!
@rebeccaharrison9343 Hi Rebecca! The fire trail doesn't show up on maps. That's what's so cool about it. It's just past the first major bridge with hand rails that is maybe 0.2 mile past the Bear Lake TH/Glacier Gorelge TH split. You cant miss it going up. However you will bypass Alberta Falls if you take the Fire Trail. Good luck on your trip!
I hope one day I will be able to do this hike, it would take a lot but I would love to do it! lol. I love when you do a video here! It is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing the hike!
Thank you Lauren. You can do it! Just start early and keep setting goals as you go. First the Loch, then the waterfall and after you do that you are pretty much up there!
@@nicksangetta8874 I'm pretty sure i can handle it up to where you have to climb up by the waterfall. Climbing up is no problem for me. Its the going down right there at the waterfall I would get sketched out at. LOL. Another issue would be , being in CO. long enough to get climatized an use to the elevation! One day hopefully, I can always keep it as a goal/dream to do.
I can make it to timberline falls no problem but the waterfall still freaks me out and then you have to come back down. When they add stairs to this feature I will be golden. 😮😂 it is a fun hike to the falls though.

You out did yourself on this one. Endless beauty. Magnificent hike. Going to watch this one a few times!
I’m very impressed by your mom ascending the falls👍👏
Another fantastic hiking video, Nick!! Thanks for sharing your adventures. Keep on a hiking!!

Just went here (May 4th) and everything was frozen over so it was easy to traverse

Well we now know where your hiking prowess comes from after seeing your mom tackle Sky Pond.

Political flag while hiking is a unique choice.
After the bullcrap that happened yesterday I'm about to get a full on red MAGA hat and hike with that.
