    My Brasil recently died for no apparent reason. I couldn't detect any pests and I think I got the watering OK. Somehow, gradually all its leaves faded, shrivelled and then fell off.
    Yesterday I bought a new one, hoping for better luck this time! It was only 4 € but it is very bushy and mature. Can't wait to see it grow!

    I have a philodendron brasil and it’s growing out of control, which is great! But! I live in a one bedroom apartment and do not have room to have all these vines all over the place. And it’s getting flat on top like yours. I want to prune it, but I’m worried I’m going to cut too many vines and shock it. Is it possible to cut “too much”? Thank you for this video. Great idea about how to fill out the top and keep the roots happy.

    • @nadine_double_v9901
      @nadine_double_v9901 Год назад

      Hi, Jeff will correct me if I am wrong, but You can prune as much as you like. As long as there is a leaf and node, anyway. The plant will push new growths aside and make it bushier. I did it to mine, not long ago. Hope it helps.

    • @bubblemonkeyx
      @bubblemonkeyx Год назад +1

      @@nadine_double_v9901 thanks. I’ve been putting off pruning mine but am going to try it today. I did a quick google search and saw a few things that say not to trim more than ⅓ to ½ of the plant. Not sure how they’re figuring half of the plant. Like half of the overall stems? I’ll do a few and see what happens! 🤞

    Hi your philodendrons look happy in clay pots. Do you recommend? I just transplanted a new spider plant into a clay pot. The store soil staying too wet.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  Месяц назад +1

      Clay pots dry out quite quickly.... I would suggest first changing the soil to something quite light and well draining. If you have a good draining soil then typically you don't need a clay pot.... I just like the look of them

    • @oldmexicanwoman159
      @oldmexicanwoman159 Месяц назад

      Yes I keep all of my succulents in clay pots outdoors with well draining soil mix. Then I can allow soil to dry out b4 watering again. I was just curious about the clay for indoor plants that don’t like wet feet. My Alocasia came in a clay pot and seems quite happy though it does dry out faster than the plastic inserted into ceramic. I just trimmed my Philo Brasil and will wait a bit to transplant it while I attempt to propagate those cuttings. Your Brasil is stunning and the video is inspiring confidence. Thank you.

    I can't find systemics. Whenever I get a new plant I wipe it down with hydrogen peroxide, straight from the bottle. So far I haven't had any issues other than gnats. I have a pet lady bug that moved in last week and I don't have any gnats now though either lol...
    I've wondered with systemics if it makes the plant even more dangerous if a pet takes a bite. My dog leaves the plants alone but on occasion he's playing and one touches his tail and he bites it for the booty floof attack. Fortunately he hasn't got sick but the systemics make me suffer if it would be more dangerous for pets.

    My regular heartleaf philodendron is my fastest growing plant, but I don’t do well with the propagations. I water the mama plant 2 days before I take the cuttings and root them in water. It takes forever to grow roots. The leaves start getting brown spots and getting very thin/translucent. I’d say only about half of the cuttings made it last time. Do you have any suggestions? I think they aren’t growing roots fast enough but I don’t know why!

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 года назад

      Are they getting enough light? Do you have a water softener. They usually a very quick to root in water

  • @MarisaAndChew
    @MarisaAndChew 2 года назад +2

    Your root pruning traumatizes me every time 🤣🤣🤣
    I prefer Terra cotta pots as well even my fiddle is in one. They are less tippy and I've never had root rot in one, plus from an environmental perspective it's all natural unlike plastic. They're also oddly very inexpensive even for a larger size. If I water in place the little terracotta tray water just gets absorbed up by the pot 🤷🏼‍♀️ and from a visual point I can pull out a pot that's 10 or I can buy a brand new one and they match! No worry about trying to find pots that match!
