    College theater director here: I'd try this system out with our pit orchestra to give them some more discrete control.

    Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Let me know what you think of these or if you've used them before. As always, I'd love to hear about any interesting gigs you did over the weekend. Thanks for stopping by! Steve

    Nice to see a teardown on it. Looks like that is a well done solder job. I can see them used on stationary musicians like drummer or keys. Drummer can have separate drum and cymbals mix, and also a dedicated metronome knob. It can fully integrate into a digital mixer setup like the x32.
    Great stuff!

    As a church Sound and Video director, these would be great in a couple of ways:
    - My Video guy needs to hear what I'm sending for our Live Stream. His stream PC receives a digital mix from our X32 and I have been unhappy with the PC headphone output for monitoring.
    - At the same time, my Choir Director on the stage currently has no method to hear the mono house mix, as compared to the stereo Live Stream.
    This system would be a great solution for either of both!
    Great teardown and technical description! Most folks don't provide this level of review.
    Thanks, Earl

    I could actually see this being useful on set either in a news context where the talent could control a remote feed, producer IFB and possibly fold back for sports, OR on film sets for a producer/director to toggle boom, ambience and wireless lavalier feeds.

      @DcSoundOp  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey Andrew, I agree 100%. There are so many small shoots where a quick IFB with some basic mixing built in could be really handy. Hope you're doing well well!

    I would use these to add matrix-like functionality to small utility mixers in breakout rooms that otherwise don't have them. In that application I would certainly use the DC power supply.

    could be great for a fancier in ear monitor for our musical pit conductor. Send them a feed of Left Vox, RIght Piano, and a TB channel from the SM

    This is the most interresting thing, happened to live audio monitoring since P-16 has came out. Still some tweaks to do, but this is such a thing. In world of DN4816-O when you have plenty outputs to share like 5times same stereo mix to split and one bus special for each, this might be monitoring beast with skilled musicians. Always it is good to remember, that more musician has this, 3x more buses/auxes you need. When I've been tinkering with audio over CAT 20 years ago, I would nevet thought it can go this far, as we are :) I thin I need some into my studio as replacement os my DP48 which is mostly overkill. ❤

    Sound engineer here: those would be realy usefull for drums. there I do tech we don't have lots of expensive equipment so everything is made to work. our current solution for drum metronomes is to have a laptop and a USB mixer on stage. 2 channels for main mix and the USB chanell for a metronome app. then the drummer can turn It on or off before there set.
    that monitor mixer would be good as we could just send the metronome beat from foh and the drummer can just turn it down if they don't need it.
    cool product

    Nice video, you do a pretty good job explaining and going over things.
    My thought’s for how to use this would be for the keyboardist at my church, I and the other keyboardist always have trouble hearing our instrument over the other stage noise so some form of in ear is looking better and better. Also with the multiple channels that would allow us to have a direct send for our personal volume as well as a monitor mix from the board allowing more control for the person playing.

    I could see us using it together with our old hearback system.
    Mainly the drummer and the conducter, to have a way to blend the TackBack and conducter mics on top of the in ear monitoring (as the old system only have 6 mono and 1 stereo mix to blend)
    For fixed chorous singers it might be used to add a "more me" as well :)
    And yes, I am talking musicals and cabarets here.

    As a singing drummer, this product would be great for my need to hear the click, my voice, and what ever band mix choose. Having the ability to adjust each of these signals without poking around on an app would be nice. I am already used to adjusting my signal on a PM1. Same form factor, more options!

      That's exactly why I'm sending the one I tested here to my friend who is a singing drummer, I figure he'll be able to tell me really quickly if it does the job or not. Thanks for the message!

    Awesome! I do live sound for agency bands all using IEMs, so this could be cool to give to the drummer to give him a bit more of a stereo spread from the mono mix I normally provide.

    7:21 -I am a lead tech guy at a church. I could see using this at a conference or gathering outside of church. Looking back over the past year I am recalling a mens conference and our Good Friday service. Both used a A & H QU 24 digital board so making use of this device would be very simple. For both of these events, deciphering how to get monitor sends to the musicians took some gymnastics and or renting and borrowing gear from other churches.

    Hello there!! I saw this product at the NAMM show this year, and been thinking about it since then, now that is on the street right now I been watching some reviews of it and this one that you did in a more depth way is very useful and accurate for what I got in mind with this type of products, I'm a drummer and a musical director in a couple of bands that I play with, so, having all this configurations in one small unit seems to be pretty handy tho! thanks for this great video!

    Hi, I would use this at a House of Worship where there is a keyboard in use on stage monitors and their position is causing feedback., hopefully giving headphones would help to reduce if not eliminate the risk of feedback.

      Hey thanks for the message! It's always tough in a HOW setting when you get musicians on stage competing to hear themselves. Getting everyone, or at least the loudest folks onto ears can really help clean up the whole production. Thanks again for checking out the video.

      @@DcSoundOp No problem man your videos have been a great help, I watched a video back in the day about the Presidential Inauguration - live sound and found that really interesting the amount of work that is done to get it right. What about your "What's in your kit?" videos anymore or some behind-the-scenes type of gigs and jobs?

    I work in a secondary school and I could see using these as a simpler/cheaper alternative to aviom/P16 type systems for young musicians that aren't knowledgeable enough to be given full control of their mix with a dedicated mixer but having 3 stems of "me"-"the band"-"vocals" for them to control themselves could make life a lot easier from a lone A1 perspective. What's the price point on these and is there a UK distributor?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 месяца назад

      Hey Robb, that sounds like a great use for these. I'm not sure if any of your local shops there carry them in-stock, but it looks like Anderton's is a dealer as well as a handful of other smaller shops. Not sure if you're in the North of South, but here's a map of the dealers: xvive.com/audio/dealers-uk/ - also here's an affiliate link to the Uk Amazon listing for the current price - amzn.to/3WA2t6z - Thanks again for checking out the video.

    Just a point about what you said re the "Power over Ethernet" - you're right, it does imply "compatibility" with other PoE systems - but the main point here is there is NO ETHERNET. The wire is just wire. Ethernet is what CAN be sent down the wire, in the same way you are sending audio. Power-over-CAT, Power-over-Cable, Power-over-Wire or just "remote power" would be far more appropriate. This is poor on xVive's marketing, not a negative reflection on you or your video... it just comes across that they've taken the 'audio-over-CAT' idea, baked it into something pretty cool, but then their marketing / documentation team gone and ruined it by not understanding what's happening!
