Also, at the end I've mixed the voice track with the backtape with the EQ in Cubase5. That was the hardest part because it was not easy to make it blend with the backtape. I'm not a professional mixer at all, I mix via trial and error by the ear until it feels right.
I mix through the speakers, not by headphones, because both results sound very different.

    Thank you,
Richard Butler has a very typical voice, it wasn't easy.

Hard to tell at this very moment because I have a seperate HD partition for Cubase5, so I have to restart my PC to check the effects. I think: Multiband compressor (preset "clear voice"), studiochorus (preset "a little wider", but with low mix, so the voice doesn't sound double). During the lines "angels fall like rain" and ain't it just like rain", I 've added a little phaser or flanger to make it more spacy. The originahas quite a lot of effects too btw.

Thx, Btw I bought a new mic two weeks ago. A RØDE Microphone NT1-A,
Very warm and with an extended high dynamic range, also very quiet self-noise (only 5DBA).
    Exellent microphone for vocals!

Your welcome. Your voice is deep enough and it works. I have been trying to sing as low as Richard Butler but it isnt easy. I have a Geddy Lee/Dennis DeYoung type of voice so its not like Im going to have the flaps for that LOL. I think I will try singing this song like you do. Do you mind if I try to sound like you?

Sorry I never read this post before, it was marked as spam and I didn't notice it.
To answer your question... I tried Cure with several songs but I was not happy with the result. Robert Smith uses his head voice all the time, I got headaches when I have to sing that way. I sing more from out of the belly, that how I sing most comfortable.
Maybe I will try "just like heaven" in the Dinosaur JR version one day.

I just sang to your vocals. I think I can get my voice to go as low as yours. It makes me feel good knowing that I may not have a voice like Richard Butler but I do have a voice more like yours. I'm going to check out your other stuff. I think you and I would be a great duo. Its not often that I come across someone who sings like me. Its actually really rare. I heard your Smiths stuff too. Very cool. Do you sing Cure or Modern English or DEVO?

OH I have a question. I am sort of new to P.A. systems and stuff like this. What kind of effects and things do you use for this song? Thanks. I want to buy a P.A. system for an entire band someday...but I need to learn alot. And I have never recorded in a studio. But all I want to know for now is what kind of effects you used here!
