    Got to admit, I would give ALL the Sonik range a look and I’m a Shimano user!! My wife has used the Vader X 6000 FS reels for the last 2 years on 10’ Vader X rods and they make an impressive package! She just loves them!

      I quit Shimano a year ago, not satisfied with the overall durability. I would prefer Daiwa over Shimano every day especially with Spin-Fishing-Reels, for Carps i bought Strategy GTR-X and i'm really happy with those, seem to be indestructible.

      I was a BIG Daiwa fan till I had a set of Regal Z baitrunners about 20 years ago that spent more time being fixed by Daiwa under warranty only to break again than in use. Fast forward to last year given a pair of emblem 19 scw 45’s as a gift, nice reels, but loaded with braid they cant cast as far as my Shimano XTC 14000 loaded with mono! I’ll stick to Shim & look at the Soniks till I’m convinced they’re suitable!

      I have 2 of the Frs version of these and found that the floating line protector didn’t work. I spent a fare amount of time having to remove the spool to untangle the line from the mech underneath. But despite that they are a great reel to use.

A lovely reel is the lynx mivardi big pit reel, they are extremely nice to use and past the test of time. 9.1 ball bearings, real quality reel.

      Yeah like everyone wants to save up for daiwa basia reels, just to do 3 rods is just under £1500

    • @chodders2329
      @chodders2329 3 года назад

      @@maverick1080 I did say that they are OK for starting off. And I know not everyone wants to fork out for Diawa, but it's something worth considering when taking up the sport. And the same rules apply for every sport there's just some things you shouldn't cut corners with because you'll pay for it in the long run.

    • @maverick1080
      @maverick1080 3 года назад

      @@chodders2329 I dont think you should discourage buying twice as with all sports its a learning curve and especially with fishing. Personally I wouldnt bother buying big pit reels unless you are fishing pits. They are horrible and hard work on small waters. Most of the time they just need a bit more tlc because they are cheep, I've got some shimanos st10000 from when I started out and they work a dream still

    Bought two brand new ones off ebay, received today and only 1 arrived.
    Anyway was not happy with the one reel it just seems cheap especially the plastic/graphite line protector thing under spool.
    I pushed the bail arm over and wound the handle the bail didn't click over when spool was in certain position!
    Also being used to small normal reels I wasn't happy/used to the spool when extended out you couldn't use the bail arm to cast as you had to wind down a few turns to lower the spool back before the bail arm could open! Not sure if this is normal for bigger reels - but not what I wanted!
    Suffice to say immediately sent back for a full refund.
