- Unrecord is an upcoming single-player FPS presented from the perspective of a bodycam. It's visually stunning, but the reason why is more than just lighting or texture detail...

I legit have difficulty believing this is a game. There is no better compliment than that. This is insane.
google picture 3d mapping, what they did gets done by ppl all around the world all the time, for estate agents etc..
You guys haven't shot guns IRL and it shows. Was impressed with the enviornment, but the movement/shooting/guns/recoil however weren't beliveable. The first video of this was the same, well worse even with the flash they used. It bugs the brain because it's just not right yet trying to be so.
@@escapetarkov3838 Elucidate. How are those things not believable?
@@escapetarkov3838 most people havent shot guns IRL, so they wont care tbh
I never noticed anything wrong with the gunplay. And I used to review real footage to train algorithms about 10 years ago. It kinda all looked like this the stuff we were reviewing for tokenisation. Disclaimer - I’ve also never shot a real gun.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I really hope you'll enjoy the game once it's complete and I'm hoping that my work will help immerse you into right into the experience.❤
Subbed, look forward to the progress. thanks for all the hard work.
This is some revolutionary work! Keep it up!
Vraiment sur la coche! Sérieux!
The jiggle is because is playing in vr? Because looks like the video is filmed on vr doe to mutch jiggle
Really hope this comes to psvr2
If Unreal5 is really this powerful, just imagine what horror games would look like!
Can only hope Dead Space comes back
Just imagine Unreal6
The horror!!!
fnaf gonna go wild
I don’t get scared at all. I hope they would finally be able to make my heart feel something.
The lighting and realism is seriously impressive, I've never seen a game that looks like this.
True. They went all in for realism of how a digital camera would see the real world, not trying to make it look like a movie scene with cinematic tonemapping and perfect studio lighting.
a digital camera is already a recreation of realism, there is no air, no temperature, no smell, no ambient sounds, no physical force on your body. You are never running fro your life, worrying about every step. Again not reality of any sense even if wearing goggles. (REDUCING DISTRACTIONS) Ever jump into a pool in a video game, did it come close to getting wet and cold? How about being really shot at. Or hit by a big ass dude? Artificial is Artificial, the industry is a drug to get your time and money (Life). Digital Opium Nearly 5% of the world's resources and intellect are hooked in it sadly like the fall of Rome. An opiate of sorts Personal Gratification is more important than care for self, others, and mankind. When now we have more ability than we ever have had on the planet as an individual. You could send anyone an idea or a dollar in seconds. You could package a video. you can create and get distribution to millions. And instead mankind plays games
@@josephbohme7917 All humans are greedy is some way or another. There will be things you personally do or choose to use in your life that others could judge you on.
It is a sad reality that technology exists and humans like the distraction, regardless of the cost.
I care more the the environment than humans and it pays to respect the planet we are on and this digital/electric world we are creating is not sustainable and only causes more damage than good.
GTA 7 is wild
imagine a horror game with the same mechanism used in this one
Look at paranormals Tales

I need this blended with dinocrisis right fuckin now. Gib it.
Just add weather patterns and movement of plants and trees then it will be more epic.
It might be a horror game :}
This is honestly next level, can't wait to see what his team comes up with
this is not next level, he uses ue4´s engine own photo mapper with thousands of pictures on a mesh. gun optics and behaviour as muzzle etc are quite bad.
@@tarkitarker0815 1: had a mild stroke reading that last part. 2: the game undoubtedly looks good weather its in UE4 or not. 3: you appear to just be trying to find the little details to pick it apart rather than looking at the whole piece of the art made by these devs and admiring the time and work put into it. relax a tad my friend!

Not gonna lie, I saw this video on Reddit the other day and was completely convinced it was real life, a video simply made with a body cam. I can’t believe this is actually a game. Absolutely insane!!!!
The game lighting goes a long way to making it look so real!
yes and the textures because they're made from photogrammetry
I seriously thought the gameplay was real for a bit… so insane
I almost clicked over the game as I thought RUclips was suggesting some shìtty abandoned building crap.
Almost all the time I can see the difference between irl body cam vs a render or a game but if you take away those black corners and desaturate the game, you could fool me.
Efant Terrible released a video where it shows the dev just jumping around and shooting randomly.
Yes, it is real but looks hard to control.
I think it is. I was very skeptical at first until I checked out their Twitter where they prove it
I thought it was airsoft when I saw the thumbnail since levelcap has posted airsoft content in the past
Using a digital blur on the faces as if it's real body camera footage being posted for anonymity is a stroke of genius by the developers to increase realism, as faces are so hard to get right.
Yeah thats exactly what has been said in this video...
for the AI .... u right
The one thing he will have a hard time doing is implementing bullet holes and water particle effects.
@@mythbunkers4716 i hate it the face of every npc in the game is blurred? yeh thats bad game design you guys are high thats gonna wear out on you real quick
@@notfrom63rd6 an artistic choice is bad game design, heard here first
The animations are just on point, the shakiness and imperfection of the hand movement makes it look so real.
You just know the creator(s) have put so much work/ time into this. It really shows. This is immersion. Its on my want list in steam.
Now THIS... THIS is immersion. MAJOR props to this indie team for actually breaking the mold and focusing on realism instead of arcade-y run-and-guns.
For looks and feels
video maker doesn't understand it actually looks real because of photogrammetry. what a failure of a video essay
I don't like this bodycam approach, yeah it can be good for one single player game, but not a genre on its own, it gets boring quickly.
No no no no and no. Good graphics do not equal immersion 🙄
This would be simply perfect for a zombies co-op game. Just imagine, you and your friends would be a spec-ops team investigating the origin of the infection, and then everything goes wrong. Your gameplay is just the footage found in your bodycam before you and your team disappeared.
resident evil 9
THAT WOULD BE SO FUCKIN COOL I HOPE THEY MAKE THAT ONE DAY!
No
Oh my god yes! We need this comment on top
That would be so good. Hitting headshots would be more challenging.
This is incredibly made. Couple this with VR and you are as close as you can get to real combat

Beautifully done. Looks like they may have the first masterpiece of it's kind on their hands.
Man! This art style and singleplayer? SIGN ME IN!
Those indies have some real talent, might inspire the big devs if they are successful with their vision.
Nah. AAA developers won't do this. Plenty of indie games do amazing things that haven't been picked up by AAA companies
Yup, they got me at SinglePlayer. :)
@@adbrooks95The quality of AAA games decreased BECAUSE of indie games. The big companies saw indie devs getting rich with Minecraft, PUBG, Fortnite, Terraria, Stardew Valley, Undertale etc. and they realized they can make a half-baked game and people would still buy it. As much as i respect indie developers, they accidentally started a chain reaction and unintentionally affected the overall quality of the videogame industry. It's like Konami focusing on Pachinko machine games because they only care about the profit. It's like the music industry, for example hip hop, so many mumble rappers getting rich, there's no point in writing lyrics anymore, you can just release anything with gibberish words and the profit is the same. Why would you put effort and time into making a rap song like Eminem, when you can make a bullshit song like Lil Yachty and still get millions..
Looking at the thumbnail, I thought this was an airsofter video talking about how immersive their game was, not an actual video game. I had to remind myself more than once it was a game watching through this video. absolutely nuts. Thanks for covering this!
Dude that is my point
It is an airsofter video. Look at the gigantic difference in quality and "graphics" between the environmental elements and things that has to be added in post, like the smoke coming from the gun. Its amazing people are being fooled that this is indeed a game. Lol..
never seen something entirely made on a computer look so incredibly immersive, realistic and exactly like some real footage cams ive seen
truly a masterpiece even at such an early stage
huge respect to the devs
3:51 Love how the gun is moved to avoid the metal pole.
it took me until the weapon demo reel to believe this was actually a game. unbelievable
The body cam shaking adds a tremendous amount of realism. If you watch the video frame by frame, each frame might feel like CGI. But when you just play it, it feels so real.
Feels like a game to me as soon as it starts etc still good looking no doubt but a lot of people either don't play enough games LMFAO or are just blind.
@@ArtisticTiger9 Maybe you havent seen enough bodycam footage from us police, it literally looks the same
I have never seen a video game look this good before. I've never even something come remotely close. I know stuff like this is often too good to be true, but at the very least, this gameplay trailer for _Unrecord_ will stand out to me as the NEXT LEVEL of ultra realistic/tactical gaming.
This is insane, it gives a feeling of being realistic, I would love for a multiplayer to have these camera angles, animations, movement ,etc, this looks so good!!!!!
I love that we've come so far that it legit feels real. It's not really what I look for in a game but I know some love realism and I'm excited for them!
I do wonder how this will age. There was a lot of CGI that looked very real to me when I was younger but as tech advanced and I got older, I have no idea what I was thinking. I do think we've stalled for about the last 5-7 years and never felt shocked by how realistic something felt. This seems like a serious breakthrough!
What's really wild is it feels like they legitimately made shooting a gun look really realistic, like the way you ride the recoil and the way you aim when you're in a rush and not getting a perfect sight picture. I'm so hyped
Fantastic! Beautiful look. Can't wait for this! And yes, the animation looks VERY solid. It's usually the weak link, but this looks great.
Thanks, excellent review sir
While the game does have its imperfections (as all do), this is a MASSIVE step forward in the gaming world. UE5 is truly being used to one of its highest levels that it can be. Unrecord seriously does show that we're closer and closer to video games being completely mistaken for real life.

The realistic visuals got me at first but the awesome animations impressed me too! The gunplay looks so good and probably the most realistic ive seen in awhile in a FPS. Love how the pistol moves while the character walks and the shooting recoil looks very intense and lifelike, the way the gun handles and the characters arms move remind me of range days
Also s/o to Corridor Crew! Hope they do a VFX Artists React to this one day after its been released!
This was surreal, a gift for people who enjoyed graphics and animation over a fast phase fps games. The fact that the animation was hand key'd was mind blowing.
Finally new ideas into fps games
This is truly a breathe of fresh air. Focusing on the immersion instead of the high visual graphics" which is way overdone in the industry and until U5 hasn't taken a big jump in adding anything to a game.
Absolutely zero HUD
This is really incredible. I can think that the game itself will be fairly short or that it will not have many levels, but being story driven could make this game re-playable. It’s probably rather going to be a playable glimpse into the future of graphics and gaming.
More games could legit look like that in a couple of years.
You will definitely need to have impressive hardware.
personally dont like singleplayers. but im happy alo prefer it
How does it being story driven make it more replayable? If anything it's the opposite.
@@zwein1817 Uhhh, alternate endings through different choices? Idk
I seriously thought this was filmed at first, and I still have a hard time believing it's not filmed. Amazing job from the developers 👏
First thing that comes in my head watching this is gosh how awesome if a game like Stalker would look like this...
I always wanted to play a game where everything looks like in those POV clips made in recent conflicts focused on small details such as how you look at your pockets when grabbing a magazine, changing the mag being something that takes some time instead of automatically pulling it and already load it into your gun. I am absolutely sure that this is where the game industry is going to and I'm amazed how really AWESOME devs appear like mushrooms after the rain, like, I started to finally see concepts that I always dreamt of being explored and these people I swear, makes life more enjoyable!
Insane!!! I saw this on my phone on Facebook yesterday and legit thought it was real just using blanks in a abandoned killhouse or something 💯🙌🏻I'm shocked we are this far along already.. this tech isn't sldue for another 10-20 years 🔥
We finally have seen a truly unique and innovative design for a first person shooter, someone finally reinvented the wheel in a new way
thank you for this detailed and precise analysis man!
If you put this video into 240p with no audio it looks like actual vody cam footage
It's a cool concept! I hope they manage to bring it to fruition. My other thought is I wonder if the game will have mod support? Would be incredible to see what a modding community based around this game could create.
This feels like VR gameplay. I know it's not VR, but the animation and hand movements just feel so real.
I can't go back to a non VR FPS game anymore. It's just so much better, if you know you know!
This is so cool. The level of detail for this game is astounding!
There are a lot of next level genius ideas in this. the facial blurring, the color crush and lower res from a body cam. All save them having to go all out on detail. They can put detail into motion etc. This honestly looks superb. If the story is good, I think this style of game can really take off. It's going to depend on how good it is to PLAY it. Is it fun, engaging. Is it used to heighten the xperience vs a normal shooter.
Looks great. I think a wave of games looking like this will come soon
This looks incredible, I genuinely thought it was a VR title, due to the gun handling.
Wow
the environment just blows me away, the textures on the walls, containers, boxes, ground, staircase etc it looks so freakin real, it feels like you are actually there and walk thorough .......
unreal for sure
This is why video games still keeps me incredibly exciting! Hope this will also released on consoles!
Yeah my motion sickness is gonna get pushed to the limit. This looks amazing! I actually thought this was captured by a bodycam!
I barely recognize that was a game, the visual is too realistic. That is insane.
I was looking away when you started talking about VFX artist reacting... been a long time subscriber to Corridor now, and I knew exactly who you were talking about once you started to describe the things they look for... lol I dig the video so def dropped a sub, keep em coming brotha!
Truly hope the game is great. All of the animations look fantastic and it will be interesting to see some advancement in the world FPS gaming. Don't rush, make it right and we'll all buy it
This is insane! This style of game as a horror would be terrifying but crazy good.
I'd love to see this in VR.
literally impossible to do the same in vr
good luck running that on your pc, or a supercomputer
i suspect within 5 years like a quest 4 stand alone
This would melt the cpu and the computer could too!!!
it looks so insane !!!
This is so realistic it's mesmerising and some clever tricks there to maintain the realism, almost makes you wonder if you'd balk at shooting at someone in this simulation
What's crazy is that despite all the techniques used to make it appear like bodycam video is that if you pause the video or start paying closer attention, you can notice that it still a game. Overall it still looks visually stunning and I am excited to play it once it comes out.
Yup, like with everything, the brain fills in the gaps. So if you keep going and have no time to notice, the brain will get tricked. But you can see, for instance, on the rails of the metal stairs that it still has a bit to go towards a complete photo-realism.
That's not to belittle the achievement here, there is very little uncanny valley to this. Much, much, much less than normal.
Indie developer + Awesome Looking Game = Kickstarter
And we all know what will happen after that.
Thank you for sharing. Body-cam shaky shooters, yes please. This looks awesome, I'll be keeping an eye out for "Unrecord"
Not only an amazing trailer but a great analysis and commentary 👍
I’ve been playing games for about 20 years. I’ve seen the “this is the game to change gaming” come and go a million times. I’ll believe when I see it
I love it, I’m so bored of seeing the same old reskinned games. This feels so fresh and new and it’s extremely impressive! I’m playing this on it’s release date for sure!
Very relieved that I don't get motion sick so easy. People that do we only be able to play bursts sections of the game at a time.
They took notes from the original Resident Evil remake from (2003) GameCube , that was the first game to feature photo ops in a game & it still looks amazing today & is hands down the greatest game of that entire series by far regardless if the gameplay is now dated
Some scenes look too real…
that doesn’t even make any sense. There is no such thing as “TOO” real 🙄🙄🙄
Insurgency sandstorm has a similar aiming system. It works really well once you get used to it, and it looks way better than the static guns of regular fps’s.
Great review
interesting, the rack action is a little different to what I'm used to though. I think hand over rack by pushing your hand with the pistol forward and pulling the slider back toward your bicep. It also gives you a lot more force to clear a jam.
This has to be VR. The animations and the way the gun behaves compared to where the guy is looking is either VR or would be incredibly weird in actual gameplay
I cannot believe this is real, it just looks too real, video game graphics have evolved so much over the decades it's insane.
😂😂😂
it's not just graphics.. it's animations, video effects, etc.
These guys are crazy talented, definitely best graphics game ever
In short; don't expect the wire-frames to be where you think they would be. Looks great for single player game. Likely a long ways off regarding decent or good netcode. Few FPS titles have mod communities working chest-cams into their MP/MMO servers.
Imagine a horror game with zombies or literally anything with this style and graphic fidelity.
I think a game like this has to be story focused. The bodycam angle probably makes it hard to play, but I'm always down for immersive storytelling where you control it :)
This looks amazing!
🤩🤩🤩
Wow! 😮😳 This looks wwwaaayyy too real not to be real. You guys are doing some unbelievable work here. 👍
Imagine if Tarkov looked this good. I hope unrecord is not just a story mode game, I hope there’s multiplayer
To add a new level of realistic behavior, they need to animate 100 different varieties of reloads and randomize it each time so it's less robotic.
Bro seriously this is insane. I can’t distinguish between real footage and this game! That’s amazing can’t wait to play it.
God dang. When you pointed out the animation I can know see the jank in it. Damn they're doing well over there. Hope they can pull this off
We are really reaching the level of graphics where our brain is having problem telling what is real or not. These are exciting times.
Now imagine this as a horror game...
If they fail at making a tactical fps. They 100% should make a horror game, that will surely sell a lot and bring a lot of people.

To me this looks fabricated. There's no way gameplay with a mouse and keyboard will be this fluid. However if its av VR game I could see it as plausible. Still it looks like a concept presentation at best.
@@kettestad the gameplay itself is BS. If its Not a VR Game. Yep indeed. But If you Zoom into the Video and Pause IT you See its still a Game. Fluid Motion and the shakyness make it Look real. But even in the Office at the end you See damn Bad Poster Textures. So the Game is real but i highly doubt you will Play Like this. Because it distracts alot. With all this wild movement. epic work for a game perfect review
Man, my brain had a REALLY difficult time convincing myself that this wasn't some headcam!
Unbelievable. This is very innovative. Realistic games aren't really my thing, but I would love to try this.
I could see other games implement this for sure.
I think the biggest thing that makes this game look like real body camera footage comes down to one very subtle thing. Auto exposure. The camera we see the world through has all the normal things we’d expect to see from crappy camera footage like blown out highlights or low resolution, but it’s the auto exposure effect that really sells it. If you look closely, the exposure will jump up and down to try and compensate for the amount of light the camera is seeing in the room and it only is smooth every once in a while when the character moves slowly or smoothly. It’s all determined by where the character is standing in a room or how quickly they move from dark to light areas on the map. Impressive stuff.
Another really interesting example of this theory in action are VHS filters for Asseto Corsa those look so unbelievably real
No one seems to have noticed, but a right-side-of-the-head camera position may give this game an entire box of extra tricks while solving certain problems.
A chest-cam won't allow you to peep round corners or fire from particular types of cover - that is, we don't check angles like Keaton's Batman does, rotating his whole body. The head position will also naturally eliminate more of the random inertial shake picked up by a chest camera, as our head tends to automatically reference and align to vertical and horizontal axes by default.
Another issue would be any close-up interactions with others. All very well taking the easier options in-game because of facial technicalities, but if, for example, such interactions went to eye-to-eye level cut-scenes, then there wouldn't be such a jolting change of perspective when the game picked up again and you're now back down on the chest-view.
The whole concept at work here is stunning. I just think they're missing - and maybe messing-up - a bunch of stuff by sighting the camera in the wrong position.
That scenario reminds me of an episode Proper People's video. It definitely looks like the same place. This game is fantastic. I'm buying it right now.
insane cant wait to play
