[Instrumental Outro]
I don't understand why people keep knocking these vocals...his voice has such power and beauty to it. This is such a brilliant song. One of my favorite Black Mages pieces.
this game is sorely underrated in the world of ff... everyone is so stuck on 7 and they forget this... this was the first rpg i played and i have to say it's one of the best if not THE best
I'll admit, when I first heard this song on the Black Mages second album, I didn't know what to think of it. I had never really listened to Opera music, at the same time I couldn't get enough of it. Just like the Operatic sound of Nightwish and Epica, the sound grew on me.

@lucjesuistonpere The original piano peice in the game is called To Zanarkand (a section of it plays at the beginning and end of this song) but this song is a Black Mages song, written in the melody of To Zanarkand, but is obviously very different considering it's a hard rock/heavy metal song, with lyrics...called The Skies Above....

One of the best remixes of a Final Fantasy song I have ever heard, I doubt their will be a better remixed Final Fantasy song than this. So emotional, powerful, and Mr. Goo is legendary in this song!
Why do people say FF10 is shit? its not shit it is an awesome game with awesome music and the Black Mages are brilliant at playing the music from FF10.
simply an amazing song, my favorite. you can relax and listen to this and refelect on what ever it makes you think of. underviewed, underrated, but awsome song :P
Remember, this is a live performance. Of course it's going to sound different or possibly worse then the studio recording. I cringed several times in the beginning piano sequence because of missed notes, but I'm able to forgive it because this song is one of my all time favorites. And I am so in love with Mr. Goo's voice. And if I were actually there for the show, I wouldn't care at all!
This song is very interesting. It starts off with a peaceful melody, then goes to speed metal, and ends with opera. It's hilarious, but it wouldn't sound right any other way.
@erblecde Seeing as it is Nobuo Uematsu's band and the song To Zanarkand was made by Nobuo Uematsu, it has every right to be compared. The Black Mages remasters many of Nobuo's songs, often with Nobuo putting lyrics to it, so this is indeed To Zanarkand, just the rock version that Nobuo picked.
Ahh yes back when the Black Mages was still functioning. Back when my dreams and ambitions were a Fantasy. Back when Childhood was a fleecing Memory... Let me RETURN to the 2000's...😩😫
if they made a secret boss where you fought dark clones of tidus and the rest of the group...have this play. (oh and hd remake will ff 10-2 on ps3 disc and they'll have international content on it)
Black Mages is Nobuo's band, as you probably know, so I'd call it more of a remix or a new arrangement than a cover, since cover usually implies a song performed by a band/artist other than the original.
[Instrumental Intro]
[Verse 1: Mr. Goo]
Sparks from the fire rise up to the sky
Higher and higher, oh I want to fly
Out of the story, this time I'll be free
Wake up for a moment from this dream of me
[Verse 2: Mr. Goo]
Just a legend, cold words on a page
Lift up my eyes and I'm soaring away
On silver wings spread out to the sun
I'm leaving this city for the skies above
[Verse 3: Mr. Goo]
O'er the ruins and ancient light
Never lost, never failing
Follow me on my path to the heights
Before the shadows fade into night
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 4: Mr. Goo]
Running back, but I'm out of time
I could tell everything
Hear the words that fill my mind
How can I say she was mine?
[Instrumental Outro]
I don't understand why people keep knocking these vocals...his voice has such power and beauty to it. This is such a brilliant song. One of my favorite Black Mages pieces.
Based. You understand.
His vocals are good I enjoy it 👍
Operatic singing over a prog metal track! HELL YEAH! 🤘😁
It's a great voice that suits the song really well. Dude looks absolutely badass too.
Its the accent. It throws people off. I love it tho
I like how Nobuo is just casually jumping.
he is having fun while using his keyboard
Screw everybody, I love the vocals. Took me for a curve at first, but the melody is so perfect, and Goo is pitch perfect, that it just fucking works.
this game is sorely underrated in the world of ff... everyone is so stuck on 7 and they forget this... this was the first rpg i played and i have to say it's one of the best if not THE best
Nobou... Thank you.
I nearly started crying in the beginning coz of the nostalgia, and then... I got goosebumps on every single surface of my body!
man... videogames is such a great part in my life. thanks black mages, thanks square
Tsuyoshi Sekito has such a gentleman style while playing. What a cool guy !
Mr. Goo did a fantastic job on this, beautiful.
God, seeing all those scenes again... This game has an amazing world.
mr. goo beat up seifer for his outfit
mr goo flippin rules
It's their masterpiece. It's like an emotional melodic metal fantasy opera. And finally something with lyrics.
I'll admit, when I first heard this song on the Black Mages second album, I didn't know what to think of it. I had never really listened to Opera music, at the same time I couldn't get enough of it. Just like the Operatic sound of Nightwish and Epica, the sound grew on me.
Its cool to see a live version of that song.
I absolutely love it.
FFX is surely the best part after my all time favorite FF VIII
I have this on a CD in my car. People look at me strangely, and I assume it's because Mr Goo has captivated them and they don't know what's happened.
Japanese. Metal. Opera. What more could you want for in one song? Um, for it to go longer obviously! Mister Goo is the best!
its been more than 10 years of this song, still feels the same
Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Song! 🫶🏻💚😇🖤🇯🇵💚🫶🏻🫶🏻💗🌈❤️🔥💐⚡️♾️💕
Man, Uematsu's really getting into it. Proof that you don't need to be a young guy to rock out!
the piano intro at teh beginning always brings tears to my eyes from how truly great that game was. especially the musical score.
The whole Story, the songs, and the graphiks... everthing about FF are wonderful!
Seems that everyone should appreciate this music for what it is (EXCELLENT) and not argue with each other!!
just my oppinion!
10/10
All these years, and I'm finally seeing those breakdowns are a solo montage, heckin'.
that 2nd guitarist smalller guy is way better then the other one. nice and calm playing and accurate
The piano intro makes me cry.
I love it.
It's a beautiful intro.
And the song is amazing.
I've never played a single FF game in my life, but I've known this song for years and love it every time.
This was not the singer I was expecting but you know he is the singer I needed right now.
Sparks from the fire rise up to the sky
Higher and higher oh I want to fly
Out of the story this time I'll be free
Wake up for a moment from that dream of meJust a legend cold words on a page
Lift up my eyes and I'm soaring away
On silver wings spread out to the sun
I'm leaving this city for the skies above.
O'er the ruins an ancient light
Never lost, never failing
Follow me on my path to the heights
The keyboardist is none other than Nobuo Uematsu himself aka the composer of all music Final Fantasy. The Black mages is his band...
I want Mr. Goo's coat.
looks like ff7 rufus his coat
@@passieverhoef3166 Rufus the character is from FF8 just guessed one game off
@@dariushlarijani8083 Rufus Shinra was a character in FF7. Shinra and Cid are archetypal names in the FF universe. With Cid showing up more.
@@hsinhaowang No it's not.. lol
There was only one Rufus and he was in FF7.
@@hsinhaowang Thanks
GOD!....This rocks......black Mages are amazing on stage!
and mr yematsu...what can I say.....hes wonderfuly amazing!
One of my favorite Black Mages song.
Hands Down.
O'er the ruins and ancient light
Never lost, never failing
Follow me on my path to the heights
Before the shadows fade into night
Running back, but I'm out of time
I could tell everything
Hear the words that fill my mind
How can I say "she was mine"?
i love this track and i love what they've done with this song.
Me da hasta escalofríos de lo imponente que es esta canción. Muy buen trabajo de Nobuo y su equipo
love this song
@lucjesuistonpere The original piano peice in the game is called To Zanarkand (a section of it plays at the beginning and end of this song) but this song is a Black Mages song, written in the melody of To Zanarkand, but is obviously very different considering it's a hard rock/heavy metal song, with lyrics...called The Skies Above....
Nobuo served his purpose in my life, and for that I thank him for some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard,
A fantastic myriad of nostalgia with this. I have to replay FFX, now!
guy with the mustache is the brain behind all FF music, laugh at him if you will. But w/out him none of the FF tunes that you all love would exist.
The lyrics are beautiful :) I love how they go with the song. Especially the original
The skies above is a cover/remix of To Zanarkand. The melody of To Zanarkand is sung.
Everyone rocks it here!!!
FF+ Rock+ Opra vocals = Epic win
The Skies Above
Sparks from the fire rise up to the sky
Higher and higher, oh I want to fly
Out of the story this time I'll be free
Wake up for a moment from this dream of me
Just a legend, cold words on a page
Lift up my eyes and I'm soaring away
On silver wings spread out to the sun
I'm leaving this city for the skies above
FF rocks! FFX was the second PS2 i ever played and i have played it through five times. Also played 3,4,6,7,8,9,10,10-2(which suxs),12 (also suxs)
For a guy that sounds like like Homsar, this song is still pretty badass.
4:28 just gives me the chills, wow
I love this song! ROFL for Mr. Goo, i couldn't help it, i busted out laughing :)
It's Saturday morning, this is my story. ~2023 entropy intermission
simply an amazing song, my favorite. you can relax and listen to this and refelect on what ever it makes you think of. underviewed, underrated, but awsome song :P
i was talking about FFX-2.
i enjoyed FFX and played the game over 100 hours. doing side quest etc.
The Vocals are what make this song so epic. Great Song. One of my favorite Black Mages song. MISSTA GOO!
2020 and still com back for MISTAAA GOOOOOOOO!!!!
Nobuo Uematsu...the master of melody.
WHOA!
Still perfect. I love this song
This clip is amazing! :)
I must admit that I lolled very hard at 8:32 though, with the fan that is unsure how clapping works.
The Piano Intro and Outro seal the deal for me. The player is way more musical than the orginal
lovely...
@lucjesuistonpere yeah.. the song is called To Zanarkand... just the Black Mages Version is called Skies Above.
Live version is the best one
This song is SICK! I never would have imagined To Zanarkand being interpreted as this.
Can't believe it has been 9 long years since this game came out...the last GOOD Final Fantasy.
This song is very interesting. It starts off with a peaceful melody, then goes to speed metal, and ends with opera. It's hilarious, but it wouldn't sound right any other way.
I love this song.... it's crazy, amusing, and just plain awesome.
like your name, im a final fantasy fan, and the black mages just make the music even better
the singer is Tomoaki Watanabe as Mr. Goo
Go Mr. Goo. GO! Black Mages Rock.
Nabuo is the best piano player ever and no one can tell me other wise
this makes me wanna get my PS2 out and play the game start to end again loved X my fav one yes more then VII seeing as X was my first one.
this game was amazing, to say the least.
wanting to re-play through 7 and 10 again.. one of these days.
Totally epic

I fucking Love The Black Mages thx Nobuo ^^ for making this awesome band and of course LONG LIVE to FF series.
no one told you to like the game or the song, but we like both.
Thumbs up for the true ffx fans, and are dying to play the epic HD VERSION!!!!!!!
シアトリズムで知って見に来ました!カッコいい!
Ahh yes back when the Black Mages was still functioning. Back when my dreams and ambitions were a Fantasy. Back when Childhood was a fleecing Memory... Let me RETURN to the 2000's...😩😫
The Black Mages are awesome!!!
Such a good masterpiece ❤
Awesome The Black Mages II: The Skies Above The Skies Above Final Fantasy X Video.
if they made a secret boss where you fought dark clones of tidus and the rest of the group...have this play. (oh and hd remake will ff 10-2 on ps3 disc and they'll have international content on it)
ye but it absolutely must say MISTAA GUUU during the battle each time it gets to that part
the nostalgia level... its over 9000!!!!!!
i LOVE this guy!!!
so amazing ^^ I him as draco singing the opera and this!
This. I've been wondering this for the longest time. Cause I'd love a difficulty setting, and the dark aeons as optional super bosses.
Black Mages is Nobuo's band, as you probably know, so I'd call it more of a remix or a new arrangement than a cover, since cover usually implies a song performed by a band/artist other than the original.
GReat performance, Awesome Song!!!
awesome song.
uffffff Nunca me canso de esa cancion uffff hermosa
No doubt, the solo is absolutely amazing.
Now its 37...
shit's contagious.
Iron Maiden's singer was in the choir when he was a kid, and you can hear it in their music.
Not to mention, iron Maiden is awesome.
Nobuo plays the 2 tier organ and a synth for a few choice solos, there is another keyboard player that plays all the piano parts.
@xPersona4
That Japanese janitor is Nobuo Uematsu.
aka the God of video game music.
Mr Goo's face reminds me of Jabba the Hut (Star Wars).
Excellent song; he sings it so well!
2:36-2:48 their harmony sounds awesome
MISTAA GOOOOOO!!!
He looks like he could use a maiden's kiss.
[/rude]
Nah, he rocks. He has a beautiful live voice too. =D
