In addition to everyone (rightly) clamoring for his arrangement of "Moon River", you'd probably also really enjoy his "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "Flintstones"
Bro.....you cant ignore Quincy Jones sitting in the chair flipping note cards with the chords on them. Take 6's life giving blends....bgvs. the mix.....the orchestra....brass licks....these are all hall of famers on this track. Literally
Jacob collier is the most inovative and inspirational person in the Jazz and music world today. His capabilities on various instruments is only outmatched by his arangement capabilities. He is truly like a "modern day mozart" in the Jazz world. Music in general... Absolutely crazy stuff
I recommend checking out his website for his video laying out and demonstrating how he crafted this entire arrangement on a procrastinated recording deadline with the Metropole orchestra and Take Six and an (Atlanta?) acapela choir. In the space of six hours he completed the arrangement of all vocal and instrumental parts in a single Logic session and printed out the score in the wee hours before his flight to the Netherlands for the studio session. The complete video was shot by him and compiled and edited also in a solo session on his bedroom computer workstation. Check this out to see the mind of this astonishingly gifted young man. It’s an hour and half with him in his famous bedroom where it all happens and he is so generous and unguarded about sharing the whole process. He makes quite the musical ambassador and educator.
Brad welcome to the Jacob Collier fan club. He is wickedly talented. Love your reactions. He also appeared on NPR Tiny Desk, strongly recommend you check it out.
Yeah, Moon River is phenomenal, no doubt about it - but if you wanna get an insight into what his musical abilities are, you should most DEFINITELY have a look and listen to his live performance of "With the Love in my Heart" in Toronto! ruclips.net/video/AzQKID8AUHM/видео.html
Great reaction to Jacob work. Maybe you would like to know that Jacob won a grammy last january for this arrangement and another one for is arrangement A Cappella of Moon River. I am a fan and it makes me very happy when someone discover is music realizations. (from Montréal, Québec, Canada)
Just found your channel while listening to Jacob. So glad you like his stuff! If you ever get the chance, his live performances are UNREAL like stomach flips and tears through the whole thing.
def also check out some of his OG youtube covers: PYT, Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing, Fascinating Rhythm. Also if you enjoy Jacob Collier and Dirty Loops, might I suggest the duo Knower (as well as both of the members' own music projects)
Here I am a 61 year young dude loving this but thankfully I was aware of this extraordinary talent when he started posting on YT a few years back. Amazing.
Dude! Great video! You so need to react to of course Moon River, but also his original songs Make Me Cry and With the Love of My Heart and also react to Fascinating Rhythm! They will blow your mind!
Fun fact: Dirty Loops and Jacob Collier are both managed by Quincy Jones. Now that you know who Jacob Collier is, you should see more of what he does. Try “The Flintstones theme”… or “Don’t You Know” with Snarky Puppy… which reminds me… have you heard of Snarky Puppy?
Your chicken sound at 2.57m is pretty much the same sound I did on first listen. I pretty sure I have done other farm yard animal noises to his other stuff, PYT comes to mind.
This was great.. Love the shirt! Home Free uses 1 of his quotes at the beginning of their original "dreamer" they released last year! Hope you check them out 😉
I love watching people who have musical knowledge react to Jacob Collier. Us fans will be back for the next one, too. Moon River is legitimately among the greatest vocal arrangements in the history of music. And just as a heads up, he modulates to "micro-tonal" keys (keys that don't exist). After you watch/react to Moon River, watch this video: ruclips.net/video/UTDHylJZMXU/видео.html
This guy did a 5 level concept explaination from child to expert (in this case HERBIE HANCOCK). ruclips.net/video/eRkgK4jfi6M/видео.html Worth a watch. Would be an interesting reaction as well. He's a composer and arranger. Genius in my eyes. EDIT: Just listened to this again. As a musician I think you would find this interesting.
I've heard this about a hundred times and I feel like I've just scratched the surface! You should check out Jacob's breakdown of the logic session for this song: ruclips.net/video/UAMc4K_NXsA/видео.html

Flinstones is a classic, which got him one of his first two Grammys :)

You forgot Steve Vai flipping note cards as well later!

You need to react to Jacob Collier's a cappella cover of Moon River!

I think it is THE guys from Take 6 singing with him.
It is!
Yep!
Awesome! Yeah you really want to react to Moon River!
God how I looked exactly the same as you when I first heard this, same mimics and all!

Your chicken sound at 2.57m is pretty much the same sound I did on first listen. I pretty sure I have done other farm yard animal noises to his other stuff, PYT comes to mind.
