I've been teaching math for 26 years... my mind is blown!!! What a great short cut to teach students. HUGE time saver on standardized tests when they have to test pythagorean triples. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hello Sanyam kapoor..well first of all its not always possible to get triplet for every hypotenuse. secondly, if get..one way is : let the hypotenuse be n; so fist check 2n-1 is it a perfect square? If it is then one such corresponding triplet is sq root (2n-1), n-1 and n; eg lets take n=41, 2n-1=81 which is 9square and so the corresponding tripllet comes as 9,40,41! thanks!
Jane George hello...it works for any odd number or any even number; say for eg i want to find pythagorean triplets for 23; i do square of 23 = 529; i divide 529/2 =264.5 so i take 264 and 265 as corresponding numbers. so the triplet is 23 264 265.Thanks!
For number 8..as per your trick, I got a triplet of 8,32,33 but then when I verify it with the formula c² = a²+b²..the answer isn't 1089 which will be the square of 33..I got answer as 1088 which is a square of 32.9..So is it correct?
for 8 if u apply,,,since 8 is even number..we do half first =4; then 4^2=16 and then 16-1 =15 and 16+1=17 and so the corresponding triplet is 8 15 17; thanks!
hello..i told in the video too..this trick doesnt tell all us all the possible triplets; it does always give one triplet corresponding to the smallest side; so if u give me side 20, there is certainly one triplet 20 99 101; there are of course other too but i m sorry this trick wont give that....thanks!
first of all...its not possible to have triplets corresponding to every number if that umber is the middle number; if at all it is possible , the trick is to add that number to its successive number and the third number will be the square root of the resultant; so in your case, for 24 we do 24+25=49 and the sq root is 7 , thus the triplet is 7 24 25; thanks!
thank u! yes..as i told in video..not all triplets will be covered by this trick; corresponding to 20 if we apply the trick we will get 20 99 101 as triplet, which is also a valid triplet but not all triplets with 20 we can get from this trick..u r right..Thanks!
hello...as i told in the video as well, not all triplets can be explained or accounted for by the trick mentioned in the video. especially, the multiples of triplets can definately not be found.....thanks!
ramesh koka thanks Mr Ramesh. encouraging words like these makes us teachers feel good...i have just put in few videos on sale at just 1.98$ per video at the site mindbites.com. please check..thanks!
It seems that for even numbers, not divisible by four, you always get a triplet that is a scaled up by two of it's corresponding primitive triplet. Is that generally so? If so the trick should be expanded with that for these even numbers you should scale the triplet down by two to get the primitive triplet. (IMO)
In my opinion, It would be definitely accurate and in a way "honest" ,if you mentioned the mathematical form and then the implementation of it. The key word you used that poked me was "amazing". Greetings from Greece
i didnt mean to take any credit..i as it is want to freely add value to students worldwide..still..if u feel that i had been dishonest i m sorry. greetings to u too from India!
Sivaramakrishnan Sivakumar wow..good! its not too tough; take one term on the other side and make factors! but yes its great work to have the desire to prove it. thanks!
hello. it does..for 15 the corresponding triplet is 15 112 113; what we are saying is this is one of the definate triplets; of course there are some others too like 8 15 17; 15 20 25 etc.

What a great trick thanks a lot MR. Gaurav thanks a lot I appreciate you for telling us this trick ,thanks a lot!!
But if no is already given
it's easy to understand & we can solve easily these prblms in computation exams..we can save the time it is useful to me sir
thanks !
Is there a trick for getting : 12 - 16 - 20 still a triplet with smaller digits.
Thanks alot sir....u make it so easy .....😊😊😊😊
Thank you!
Why does this method work for calculating the hypotenuse or other sides of the triangle?
basically we are trying to factorise c^2-b^2 = (c-b)(c+b) and then take c-b=1 and find the other numbers!
Does it hold good for all the numbers
yes..apart from 1 and 2 as starting num.
The problems that you did, are they the only numbers that work with this?
Jane George hello...it works for any odd number or any even number; say for eg i want to find pythagorean triplets for 23; i do square of 23 = 529; i divide 529/2 =264.5 so i take 264 and 265 as corresponding numbers. so the triplet is 23 264 265.Thanks!

Sir could you please explain 20 21 29 and 28 45 53??
Sir if not given small no and given any large no then how can find triplet please Ripley
if we are given only 24 and 7 and 25 are not known. Then how can i find the other 2 numbers? Is there any trick for that?
first of all...its not possible to have triplets corresponding to every number if that umber is the middle number; if at all it is possible , the trick is to add that number to its successive number and the third number will be the square root of the resultant; so in your case, for 24 we do 24+25=49 and the sq root is 7 , thus the triplet is 7 24 25; thanks!

Awesome technique sir thank u
concept clear. ...Thank you so much
thank u!
You just teached us that [(n^2+1)/2]^2=[(n^2-1)/2]^2+n^2 , that was known to Pythagoreans .
yes..but in easy manner..every short trick is certainly baaed on logic.
In my opinion, It would be definitely accurate and in a way "honest" ,if you mentioned the mathematical form and then the implementation of it. The key word you used that poked me was "amazing".
Greetings from Greece

Hey.
what about the odd no.s after 13?
It doesnt satisfy in the case of 15?
hello. it does..for 15 the corresponding triplet is 15 112 113; what we are saying is this is one of the definate triplets; of course there are some others too like 8 15 17; 15 20 25 etc.
Thank you baljeet
genius approach, do it works all the time
aryen sujjan thanks! yes when we are given the least num and we want to find at least one triplet corresponding to it.
Thank you so much sir❤️
You just saved me from wasting possibly days
