This is how I free stuck Detroit injectors. Check out Old2strokers channel on freeing up stuck injectors as well.: • How to free up stuck 5... Brayden's Channel.: / @braydensdeals
You can let them soak in HOT cooking oil on the stove till depressed plungers pop(sometimes an hour) . Even works on stuck hydraulic lifters/ tappets although they're cheap
I'm going to venture into the depths of this technique and try a injection pump 🤯 see if it helps any. I'll try a turkey fryer and let yall know how it goes...
@@detroitgarage9430 Will do! I actually bought my still-unused sonic cleaner to use on my new resin-based 3D printer (which is also unused). From what I understand, the 3D resin prints are considered Hazmat so they wear gloves and wash off their parts with isopropyl alcohol. Some clever folks in the 3D printer community discovered that they could conserve their expensive alcohol by putting their parts inside zip-lock bags with a small quantity of alcohol while using ordinary tap water (outside of the bag) to fill the rest of the sonic cleaner. I figure it's probably safer too, rather than agitating already aerated flammable solvents. I'm going to try the same thing with my injectors with an appropriate solvent after I verify that it won't dissolve the ziplock bag. The best part is that my solvent won't be diluted by the water so it shouldn't require much. The bags will pay for themselves in unused hand soap.
Dessa forma posso limpar as peças e inspecioná-las. Se alguma não puder ser reparada, substituo as peças desgastadas. :)
I really enjoy your videos, I have learned a lot. My friend has a Timberjack skidder with a 353, he was coming out of the woods two winters ago and the skidder lost power and quit. He wrapped it up for the winter and finally got back to it. We discovered the emergency stop was tripped, closing off air to the blower and the inlet fuel line to the injectors was blown off. We drained the fuel tank, put in clean fuel , cleaned emergency shut off, put fuel line back on, checked the fuel filter and got fuel up to injectors by turning engine over and bleeding air. We could not get one injector air free, air just kept pissing out. So after many tries, new batteries, good connections, recharging batteries, bleeding air, a little ether, it still just spins over and won't start. (Air in injector closest to skidder operator.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You don't really need to bleed Detroit injectors, but instead make sure both the primary and secondary filters are full of fuel and fuel is getting to the filters. Sometimes it take a little work to get the fuel pump primed, but once it is then the engine will start. It will run rough for a minute or so until the air is out of the system. Again confirm the emergency stop is in the open position and the fuel lever is in the run position. One last thing, confirm the rack is free before starting.:) I hope this helps.
@@detroitgarage9430 yeah i guess they are rare but a guy like you could make one maybe with an old head and make the camshaft turn with an electric motor and use some syringe body to calculate the flow per minute. haha yeah it sound's crazy but it might work.
Hello. I have injectors really stuck in my Jeep Wrangler unlimited with VM diesel. What is the best most aggressive penetrating oil please?. I'm guessing Kroil?
Common rail injectors run at far tighter tolerances and higher pressures than the old Detroits. You could try Kroil or Archoil AR6200, but they'll probably have to be replaced.
@@detroitgarage9430 Yeah mine are totally seized in rock solid. It's really common with European diesels. The first modern Common rail diesel engine I ever seen was in 1993 on a Italian "Same" Silver ag tractor which was beautiful.
@@conmanumber1 About the only way to fix your issue is to exchange for rebuilt or new. Even if you can free them up, they'll probably not spray right. Did they get def or Adblue in them?
What would you recommend as the best injector for a 4-53t marine engine? Looking to get more than 170hp outta them, but without sacrificing reliability. thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
The largest injector I can find for the 53 series is the 5840 that delivers 85-90 cc/1000. A common injector that a lot of 4-53T guys run are the 9A90's and they deliver the same as the 5840. With keel cooling and water jacket intercooling that should give you about 250HP. I'm running 7A77's @ 74-79 CC/1000 and am around 210HP with intercooling.
@@detroitgarage9430 thank you for the advice. How well will it hold up to 9a90's? I don't want to burn em up, but I do want to get more out of them. They do have intercoolers
@@dannyjones3840 I haven't tried the 9A90's, but from the guys I know running them they're fine. I can say for a fact the 7A77's are smoke free and max egt's are 850. I have a set of 9B90's but haven't installed them yet.
Good day..I have a 353t turbo engine which is slow accelerate when pedal is depress. I found the fuel rod to injector rack attachment point is out of alignment. Have to force the rod in place to insert the pin. I suspect a bend fuel rod. Question to you is it ok for me to reform the rod to remove that force?
Yes, I have run into the same problem and repaired the rod so it works correctly. In these cases it's best to run the rack again so it's adjusted properly. Thanks for watching.:)
I've watched this several times. Totally love how you laid it all out for us. very useful Vid my freind!
Thanks, glad it was helpfull.:) Thanks for watching.:)
This was a really good video. Nothing better than some WD40 and coffee mix for your daily health. As an industrial mechanic, I can totally relate.
I'm glad you liked the video.:) These injectors are still running nice in the 8V71.:)
Super thankful for your knowledge.

I see a lot of different “families” of Detroit injectors. What are the differences between them and what are their respective applications?
Too many to list, best to search injectors and download the injector service manual.:)

When injectors are stuck for many years, does it do them any harm?
No, as long as they are not rusted. These injectors are stuck from Diesel that's turned to varnish, so no harm done.:)
