Maiden fans are like a family. The people in the maiden community are some of the coolest, funniest, and most supportive people I have ever met. I know it sounds cheesy but it's true. Thank you everyone in this community for being like an extended family to me. Up the irons!!!🤘🤪
I heard this song for the first time, about 10 years ago now. And a shiver literally ran down my spine from the song a I just had to hear it again! And then I started listening to their other songs. And I instantly became fan of Iron Maiden. And to this day, Iron Maiden is my favorite band and I've seen them on concert several times! Up the Irons! 🤘
I'm an old geezer who has mapped Iron Maiden's progress pretty much from the start. They deserve a lifetime achievement award for keeping us entertained for so long. Continue the legacy young folk, get pissed, do drugs & party before arthritis & COPD set in. ROCK & F*CKIN' ROLL! 💀
Hehe, same here. I was listening to other types of music back then. But I like music, so you know, there I am, years later, a song like this come on, or a friend recommends it, and boom. Life is good. This song absolutely destroys. This entire album, on the right afternoon, at the right volume, can change your life.
Sweet our next history song will be called "you limeys are quite welcome for us saving your hapless asses from Germany... TWICE. dont mention it old beans" by Metallica 🇺🇸😘🇬🇧
This song never gets old. I love everything about it: Bruce's incomparable voice, the playing of the music instruments, the video clip of the song. Everything. P.S.: Bruce Dickinson was very handsome at that age.

An imperialist nation attempting to bank on some event they had no way of really understanding lmfaooo but yea bruther they really got history down in a maiden song. Sincerely signed someone thats worked for natives.
This was literally the ONLY song they every played on the radio from Maiden back in the day. Got so tired of it, but am really grateful it got me into the band from the beginning. Still love em 40 years later. Up the Irons !!
they still play this track and have played this one to death in the last 20 years or so, they wont air their big lenghty songs like alexander the great or nomad its radio logic, short and pop songs
I used to love to watch this video on MTV when I was a little kid and this came out. They played it non stop. I'd sit and wait for it to come on again.
It's still playing on my favorite station! Every Saturday, because on that day the radio station only puts rock music. They call it "The Great Rock Mass"

Pete W yes very true to this date tribes still carry a grudge. My brother is Creek. He married a Seminole. ..the families hate each other because of this.. Im white we grew up together. We are just family because of growing up together.
It was all about the grounds they were hunting on tho, at least on the plains. A lot of tribes have conflicts with other tribes but in all honesty we never massacred each other at all, unless they did something truly unspeakable and in need absolute need of retaliation (which even then native on native massacres didnt really happen as often as presumed), and even then we didnt just go in and start killing willy nilly. What you find is that theres an underlying respect for each other, even if it isnt pronounced.

As a Native, I love this. This captures the pain of my people. The brutality that my ancestors faced. It just captures that. I love it. Edit: To be more specific, My tribe is Navajo and I'm full blooded because my parents are Navajo. So I got to be more specific.
not like we were doing anything great anyways. I mean we didn't even have the wheel. id say us natives were pretty brutal as well to each other. if not for the great explorers we wouldn't have the best country on earth
Looking at this, can you believe the singer is capable of flying a 747 today? Which is owned by the band. Now that is what I call success. Up the Irons!

This song is my Native American side and my European side of my blood. I love this song I listen to it all the time. Perfect video it makes me smile, thanks Iron Maiden ❤️
This is just a great song, no two ways about it. But the star of the show here, in my humble opinion, is the drummer. He's just slaying the hell out of his kit. 🥁
My friends and I had heard the first Maiden records and liked the instruments. Then we heard "Number of the Beast" and it was shocking. Bruce's voice put metal on a new plane. Then one of my friends was practically having a heart attack when she raced in with their LP. She put this song on and it absolutely blew us away. There we were a bunch of Natives on the rez listening to Bruce sing about us! To put this into perspective, think of the year Survivor released "Eye of the Tiger," and how that song was a daily play in Philadelphia. For us, "Run To The Hills" is still daily play. When I saw them do this in concert, it was beyond words

@@small_fries7573 have you ever wondered, what it would take for an omnipotent being to not give a fxck about the life he created? Imagine walking by life and doing nothing as it crumbles, all the while, knowing you can... I've got to be good here, now, to get milk and honey when I die? Fxck that. Why can't God just erase evil? Why must we suffer in evil as a test? Plus, your gods cool with pedos repenting seconds before death. Once, I was at a show, and in between every band change this song was cranked over the PA. On repeat. We must have heard it 12-15 times that night. And no one complained, because this song is legendary
I want to dedicate this song to my Grandpa Jeff, he passed away on April 12th 2022, he was only 66, but he loved music, especially Iron Maiden since that’s his favorite band. He also liked guitars, bowling, and fixing things. Rest In Peace Grandpa I miss you. 🕊🥀
Your grandpa was a rock believer 💪 and you are very lucky 🙏 to be his grandchild. I am cordially sorry 😢 for him having passed away at the age of only 66. God bless you to be healthy and treasure his memory till the end of your life. 🙂
life is better with good music. not like there's no new decent tunes or everything the 80's spat out was pure gold, just that in 30 years i see this still being played and re-re-re-discovered and current songs will fade into obscurity. then again, rock is about attitude, energy, virtuosity and singularity, so that's just one reason why it stands the test of time.
Magnífica música, que nunca será superada, una pena que en México promuevan lo hecho al vapor, y no las obras maestras, en fin, saludos y Larga vida a la música de los Señores de Iron Maiden.
Have you ever wondered where your soul goes after this life? We are sinners despite any tiny sins we commit like lying, bad thoughts, or cussing. It doesn't even matter how many good deeds we do because one little sin is bad enough already. We cannot make it up to heaven on our own will. Our God, Jesus Christ, decided to come down to Earth as a SINLESS human and sacrificed His life for our sins. Then He resurrected three days later! Therefore if you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is your Savior, you'll definitely have eternal life. Your existence is proof that God is real. Consider this: A creation like you have a Creator. Only in the Bible does it mention that God is the Creator of mankind. God is the only one who can create your body, your organs, your features, your blood, and fingerprints. That is why nobody has the same finger prints nor DNA as you. YOU ARE UNIQUE THANKS TO OUR GOD, JESUS CHRIST! Have a great day!
@@small_fries7573 is Jesus Vhrist a prophet? God's sun or God himself? Also the Bible is not the only religious scripture that mentions that God created mankind

This is a song that reminds me of my teen years, and being such an angry girl at the time. This song helped me through my worst times during my lousy teen years. Aside from that, this song is very powerful. 😢😎😀
📌 Literally, Dickinson has reached great heights, being the one who has taken Heavy music to 12,800 meters (42,000 feet), one of the best Heavy Metal bands that has ever existed, and on top of that, a pilot. Quite something on his resume! ✈
Saxon,Judas Priest Tank,Mötorhead,Diamond Head,Blitzkrieg, and Angel Witch we're all sort of similar. Good amount of British Music from The 80s was in this perticular style of metal. Still cool stuff though. For American Consumers before Black Metal existed (not counting Venom as Black Metal because it just isn't) yeah as most of those weren't really as popular in America save for Mötorhead and Judas Priest although both Anthrax and Metallica took a lot of ques from these bands.
This album and song was released a day after I turned 17. But it is the first time I have seen this video-clip. Songs of bands like Iron Maiden weren't played on the radio in 1982 and definitely not shown on TV. We exchanged tapes, bought records and T-shirts, subscribed on NWOBHM-fanzines and went to their live concerts.
@@kimpony Interesting. MTV only started broadcasting in Europe in the second half of the eighties. That was several years after this record and video was released. Terrestrial Radio and TV-stations in Europe hardly played or showed hard rock and Heavy Metal, except for a few obscure programs relegated to unpopular hours. Most NWoBHM did tour on the Continent and played in big "venues". But those venues were often the cattle market hall the next day. The peculiar thing is that those few obscure radio-programs and TV-shows in Europe were the actual "break through channels" for now world famous American bands: Twisted Sister, Metallica, Beastie Boys and Nirvana (before Nevermind), all had airplay and already hit large or even big stages in Europe before they genuinely got famous in the USA. It is different when the first Twisted Sister songs you ever heard were "Destroyer" and "Tear it Loose", and not I wanna Rock or We're not gonna take it. Maiden for me is far more the band from the Iron Maiden and Killers album and the live EP with Paul di Anno. The one with the "Thatcher and Eddie" cover that was allowed on the Continent but forbidden in the UK. The live version of Drifter on that EP was a very good recording of the atmosphere during concerts in that era. The Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind were excellent albums. But I lost most of my interest with Powerslave. It became a bit too much a rehash of what they had done before.
The great shift in metal music between the decades - the 80's had the SPEED. This song bridges the slower ideal of the 70's with the faster music of the 80's. Timeless.

Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for Cree

Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom the stab in the back
Women and children are cowards attack
[Chorus]
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives
[Verse 2]
Soldier blue in the barren wastes
Hunting and killing's a game
Raping the women and wasting the men

I bought this when it came out in '82. I was 19 and this is the song that really stuck in my head. Still hauls ass almost 40 years later.
Same here
I heard this song for the first time, about 10 years ago now. And a shiver literally ran down my spine from the song a I just had to hear it again! And then I started listening to their other songs. And I instantly became fan of Iron Maiden. And to this day, Iron Maiden is my favorite band and I've seen them on concert several times! Up the Irons! 🤘
I was gonna buy this in '82, but then i remembered i was 3 years old.
Based man, I'm 25 and was thinking the other day about how timeless this shit is
No it more than hauls ass
I'm an old geezer who has mapped Iron Maiden's progress pretty much from the start. They deserve a lifetime achievement award for keeping us entertained for so long. Continue the legacy young folk, get pissed, do drugs & party before arthritis & COPD set in. ROCK & F*CKIN' ROLL! 💀

As a black kid growing up in the 70s I was a Maiden fan. I still am and I'm almost 60. This is the best band in the world. Long live Iron Maiden.
Two words: kick & ass! I never realized during my adolescence that Iron Maiden was such a good band.
Hehe, same here. I was listening to other types of music back then. But I like music, so you know, there I am, years later, a song like this come on, or a friend recommends it, and boom. Life is good. This song absolutely destroys. This entire album, on the right afternoon, at the right volume, can change your life.
As a teen of the 80s ditto. We just didn't realize.
This song is a huge history class.

This song never gets old. I love everything about it: Bruce's incomparable voice, the playing of the music instruments, the video clip of the song. Everything.
P.S.: Bruce Dickinson was very handsome at that age.

Iron Maiden narrates Native American History better than our own teachers. 🇺🇸
In some ways they are the "forefathers" to groups like Sabaton
You do realize its about the same accuracy as like, the ija retelling the events of the khmer rouge. An imperialist nation attempting to bank on some event they had no way of really understanding lmfaooo but yea bruther they really got history down in a maiden song. Sincerely signed someone thats worked for natives.
exactly. they need to play this video in every american history class.
Yes, settlers and native Americans clashed while riding in automobiles.
Amen!!
This was literally the ONLY song they every played on the radio from Maiden back in the day. Got so tired of it, but am really grateful it got me into the band from the beginning. Still love em 40 years later. Up the Irons !!
Radio played Flight of Icarus and The Trooper a year or so later. Let's face it though, Maiden didn't have many radio-friendly songs back then.
Don't know what country you are from, but this never happened in a lot of countries!
they still play this track and have played this one to death in the last 20 years or so, they wont air their big lenghty songs like alexander the great or nomad its radio logic, short and pop songs
I used to love to watch this video on MTV when I was a little kid and this came out. They played it non stop. I'd sit and wait for it to come on again.
It's still playing on my favorite station! Every Saturday, because on that day the radio station only puts rock music. They call it "The Great Rock Mass"
Lyrics:
White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our creed
He took our game for his own need
We fought him hard, we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came, too much for Cree
Oh will we ever be set free
Riding through dustclouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom the stab in the back
Women and children, a cowards attack
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Soldier blue in the barren wastes
Hunting and killing's a game
Raping the women and wasting the men
"The only good injins are tame"
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Run to the hills - run for your lives
Run to the hills - run for your lives

Pete W yes very true to this date tribes still carry a grudge. My brother is Creek. He married a Seminole. ..the families hate each other because of this..
Im white we grew up together. We are just family because of growing up together.
Pete W Excellent generalization.
Pete W true, even after thanksgiving the white man still said fuck you anyway. That’s the other part they don’t teach in school

Monsters of rock
This video was on MTV all the time.
@@Samplesurfer Aha! The U.S. got MTV in 1981.
