I was six years old when Appetite for Destruction came out. I didn't know shit about music at the time, but even at that young age when I first heard Welcome to the Jungle it immediately stood out to me as being different than the other hard rock / hair metal bands on the radio at the time. Like, just hearing the intro alone I was like "damn, these guys aren't messing around." My older brother had the album on cassette and I begged him to make me a bootleg copy. He did, but made me swear to only listen to it in my room with headphones on because he knew we'd both get in trouble if Mom and Dad caught me listening to it. I played that shit until the tape broke. Love you bro!

'Apetite for Destruction' was a milestone. Masterpiece isn't enough to name it. It has to be Top 10 in EVERY rating of 'Best debut albums' in my opinion.
I remember taking a public bus in Ny and heading down to my local music cassette store and buying this album!

In nature where animals live in packs or pods or communities. There's always an Alpha and he gets top pick of whatever is valuable and if you try to go above him he'll kill you! That's the animalistic jungle metaphor, think of a Lion if you have to. Then there's this thing about being in a civilized society with the same animal stuff going on but instead of lions it's humans. The Alphas are the Government, The President, The IRS, The FBI, The Police, The Pharmaceuticals...etc

I know. You can't help but feel sorry for him. Even though Axl hasn't necessarily been considered a saint, considered all that had happened to him, he could have turned out a lot worse . Don't get me wrong a rough past doesn't excuse bad behavior but I feel Axl gets overly demonized by the media. Ok he's definitely been notorious for being very obnoxious and immature but he's done several good things such as when he invited a Hispanic waitress and her family to a GNR concert after a customer was racist towards her and I believe he also hired a guy because he was broke

Once again… The camera operators shooting this video did a superb job. There is high energy and intensity all through out Welcome to the Jungle. Scene flashing on the beat with interspersed action edits. Precision, Sequence and Raw Imagery all at once on the drop of a dime. I was 11 when this came out and into hair metal but it was getting too much with the ballads. GnR didn't fit any mold and felt like they were legit dangerous . A good album for me back then meant I didn't have to rewind or fast forward through filler songs on my walkman while riding my skate board. The whole record A and B side is great.

I love this song it never gets old Appetite for Destruction came out in 1987 I was born in December 1986 I have been to two GUNS N ROSES concerts one in 2018 and another in 2023 the 2023 one was amazing they played for something like 3 and half hours none stop I wish I had seen the original GUNS N ROSES and some there other concerts
I was born in the right generation because now we have all these songs easily available to us all
