My dad's friend died in Bosina war Bosina is a war that happened between Bosnians and Canadians were sent there to keep the peace but Bosnians started to attack them
I love this video. As a history buff I most point out one thing, that the Ortona pictures are not only from Ortona but from the who Italian Campaign. according to the Germans the tougthest fighters they face in the war. They would always send their best troops against the canadian since we were unstoppable.
I first saw your video at a Rembrance Day parade in Nelson-Miramichi, NB last year. It blew me away completely. I asked the sound technician where it came from and was given a link to your video here. I have watched it many times since that parade, and I'm very grateful that you shared it with so many. Really well done, and an awesome tribute to all who served. Thank you.
Respectfully and beautifully done! With this song and video, you have managed to capture the spirit of the men and women who have served and continue to serve Canada, their incredible bravery and the painful memories we share for all of those who lost their lives. Thank you.
Thank you. My Mom and Dad were married 4 days before he went off to war and then he was gone for almost 4 years. Many of my uncles also fought in WWII. Thankfully, they all returned though one uncle's plane was shot down. He was captured by German forces, but he was let go when the war ended. My Dad thought he had been killed and was overjoyed when they were reunited. I can't imagine what living through this time was like, for any of them, but I will never forget the stories I have heard.
Thank you for making this video. My Grand Father was a WWII soldier. Was in the front lines in Normandy (Grenadier). Lost many of his friends during battle and we lost him 10 years ago. Remembering him and all those who we have lost in battle & after is super important to me. God Bless them all!
A touching tribute and a great reminder that real heroes don't look like bodybuilding actors... just the guy from up the street... everyday Canadians in an extraordinary situation.
Thank you everyone for your remembrance. As a veteran of Afghanistan who was injured and seen death / destruction it nice to see Canadians appreciative of the sacrifice of many. I just wish everyone would remember all year round instead of one day a year.
I agree. We need a greater sense of gratitude in our culture, especially in regards to the sacrificial work of others. Thanks for watching. And thank you for serving. All the best!
A couple words.... Thank you for posting this. You have reduced me and probably many others to tears. I never had anyone I know fight in the war, but I like to read about World War 2 and the sacrifises all of the Allies made at Stalingrad, Dieppe, Juno and Omaha beaches. God Bless all of them.
I come from a military family and married into one. I am proud that my family and my husband's family have fought to protect other countries and their peoples. I am proud that they took a stand. They make me proud to be Canadian. I will never forget their sacrifices--or those who served in other armies to protect the downtrodden and abused. I will never forget all our heroes, or the men and women currently overseas. I will never forget.
Thank u for posting im a homeschooling mom and I found this video get intro for them to understand about remembrance day and our men and women that we lost...
Awesome Video! Proud of all the men and women who have fought for Canada and proud that I can follow in the footsteps of these amazing people to start my time as a Canadian soldier.
On remembrance day, Im doing like I have the past 2 years, putting on my Army Cadets uniform, and going out, carrying a rifle over my shoulder, and doing rifle drill and marching, not for my community, but to honor the soldiers who died serving to give our country the name it has "home of the strong and free"
I'm English, now living in Canada. Grandad was in WW1 and Dad in WW2. Our house was near Croydon Aerodrome and Canadian troops were camped on Mitcham Common. THANK YOU to all the Canadian soldiers who fought alongside British troops and sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Dad still sells poppies and reads the honour roll in church every Nov 11. Lest We Forget.
What a great tribute to the men and women who fought to make our country what it is today.I am proud to say that my dad was one of them, along with my grandpa-WW1 and WW2-and my uncles......Thank You....I will never forget
Thank you so much for this video. I am sure that it will be widely appreciated by our military. I am very proud of every one of them for their service, that's of Canadians in past wars and in present.
I'm an American and I loved this video. It's great to know we have brave and patriotic people to the north of us who are willing to fight for good alongside us! May Canada and America always be close allies.
I certainly won't (in fact, can't) forget. Two of my great uncles fought in the Second World War. One, a pilot officer in the RCAF, failed to return from a bombing mission on Berlin in January 1944. The other was in the artillery, and he fought on D-Day and in the campaign for Normandy. He made it back safe and sound. To paraphrase the famous poem by Laurence Binyon, "At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, I will remember them."
Another year, and more parades and moments to wear my DEU's and remember, to pay respect and moments of silence to those who came before me, served with duty, loyalty, integrity, and courage, and gave everything including the ultimate sacrifice for my freedom. Gone, but never forgotten.
awesome video. I am trying to figure out why there was 4 people that clicked don't like. If it wasn't for our soldiers fighting and dying, we wouldn't be living the lives that we do today.
As a Canadian History teacher teaching in Malaysia (to a class of Koreans, Indonesians, Iranians and Malaysians) this was absolutely fantastic for our assembly. I didn't have to re-invent an inferior wheel. Thanks for the great production.
I first saw this video over a year ago and left a comment under the user account "eighteendogbaby" I thought it was very moving... Today I am posting under a new user account and this video still pulls on the emotions. Thank you again for this tribute to our brave... I had since showed this to my kids, friends and my friends who are teachers showed this video on 11/11/11...
Thank you for the video. I have downloaded the HD version to be played at our Gore Hill PS assembly in Leaminton, ON, on November 11th, 2014. Credit will be given for your tasteful, all ages audience video and brief history of Canadian involvement in global conflicts.
excellent video sir. I found it by accident and found it very moving. I dont think we as Canadians do enough to remeber the fallen and to honour the sacrifices of those who have served our country. MY own family has seen 34 men serve, 13 of them died in battle and 6 have been wounded including myself. Again, I am moved by your video, job well done sir
As a young Canadian I find it so important to remember what is fought for us, I have nothing but respect for these brave men and women and I wish that was the case with everyone.
WOW... this video is amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all that had fought for our freedoms and way of life. To those that have fallen, from those whom you left behind... we will always cherish and remember the ultimate sacrifice you had so dearly paid... godbless...
I am 40 and my Dad was born on PEI, I am proud of him for having done his time in the 70's, I had to wait till the 90's. Northern Ireland. Must run in the family
great video. It reminds us that although we are never mention in history books as important allies in the World Wars, we were able to beat the best of the German Army during the Huskey and Goldfish Operation. According to our German ennemies the CDN soldiers were the roughest of them all.
The picture at 3:07 looks like a modern war photo. It's amazing what they accomplished with such basic supplies, like ladders. I am forever thankful for my freedom. Thank you to all soldiers! Today and everyday.
