      locolopelocolope From what I know, you can, but it has to be registered for use in hunting/sport and there is a list of requirements and paperwork you have to do that are for just owning a gun in general. It's definetly more restrictive than in the U.S.

      in chile you need a psychic exman, a weapons knowledge test, not having criminal records and belonging to a shooting club, and US$100, is no't hard, but the Chilean people have no interest in firing weapons, another thing is that guns and ammunition are expensive in Chile.

    I’m a sergeant in the Swiss Army and use the SIG550 or Stgw90 daily. The sights are not for 200, 300 and 400 metres. The hole marked ‘3’ is for exact sniper shooting, and is most accurate at 300m. The hole marked ‘4’, however, is for close combat situations (storming houses etc) and the hole marked 2 is for all other situations. Then there is also a set of night sights. Great video

    I love my Sig 550 or like its called in switzerland PE 90 or Sturmgewehr 90. We in Switzerland shoot these guns normally only at 300 meters with the standard diopter sight without any scopes and problems.

      And another one from Toronto Star:
      www.thestar.com/opinion/letters_to_the_editors/2015/06/27/racism-gun-culture-a-bad-mix.html
      _Let’s face it: In many ways the United States is a failed state. No American exceptionalism here; just constant violence and hate. We talk about sectarian violence in Iraq, Syria or Yemen (some of which the U.S. is incidentally responsible for), but just look at America. It’s a country at war with itself. As President Obama recently remarked, no other “advanced” country has this level of violence. Obviously, easy access to weapons of mass killing is part of the problem_

      Like it or not, Canada IS a very left-wing country, last federal election, Oct 2015, 66% of electorate voted left-wing, Liberal or NDP, Liberal Party is like Hillary Rodham Clinton wing of Democratic Party, NDP (socialists) is the Bernie Sanders wing of Democratic Party.
      Most of Canadian gun owners are either liberals, socialists, green or even communists and don't mind strict gun control laws as long as the govt allows them to buy and collect firearms.
      Reviewing guns, like this very video with a Canadian content, does not automatically mean being pro-2nd Amendment and the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
      Be safe.

From the mud and the snow of the Alps training fields to the sand and dust of former Yougoslavia, I shot magazines after magazines without having any malfunction.

    Excellent video! I am a lover of 550 series rifles since they first came to the states in the late 1980s. I have a police surplus SANS 551 and a U.S. SIG 551A1 and love them both. The early green enameled SIG 500's imported here are a thing of beauty to behold.

  • @Nostradankus
    @Nostradankus 7 лет назад +8

    Bit of additional facts about the gun in Switzerland itself: Since any soldier after finishing military service can buy their rifle for 100 Swiss Francs (about 100 USD), MilSupr models of the SIG 550, called the STGW 90, can be found at almost any gun store for around 1000 Francs, since many soldiers buy their rifle and then just sell it to make a couple hundred bucks fast. This means that even if you weren't part of the military any swiss citizen can pick up a SIG 550 for a quarter of the asking price. Additionally, these rifles are extremely accurate without any kinds of modifications. Swiss soldiers must go to a range at least once a year and prove that they can reliably hit a target at 300 meters without any sights on their standard issue rifle. This accuracy and the familiarity that many shooters have with the gun also means that SIG 550s and their MilSurp counterparts are the most common rifles at shooting competitions in Switzerland. Even junior shooters start out using this rifle.

    I would say that the AR rule is stupid but then a lot of gun laws make no sense.

    • @decidiousrex
      @decidiousrex 5 лет назад +8

      Make no sense? Every gun law on the books is completely 100% logical. If I were to take my AR pistol with an arm brace, which is a tame and well-mannered tool of home defense, and affix it with a buttstock, it would suddenly break out of my safe, murder my whole family, and go on a killing spree the likes of which we've never seen. That's why affixing a buttstock is a felony with punishments more severe than for bashing my girlfriend's skull in.
      Or take for instance the suppressor. Luckily, here in my home state of Illinois we recognize the dangers of such a device. Don't be fooled by those who say the suppressor is a useful tool to keep those who are armed from losing their hearing, in reality the suppressor is a murderous beast that will take an ordinary gun and turn it into a demon that will silently kill child after child in the night.
      The most clear way to determine how dangerous a certain part of a gun is, is to examine how it's used in movies. Short barreled rifles, for example, are used in movies by gangsters and assassins. Suppressors are used by spies and assassins. Therefore. it's CLEAR that both of these items are evil, and need to banned for our own protection. After all, everything that comes from a movie actually happened in real life.
      I'm sure glad the government is here to protect me from myself. What ever would I do if I could just do as I see fit instead of having them up my ass telling me what is safe and isn't safe to possess.

    @2:23, the windage and elevation adjustment are both on the rear. The front sight has two posts that can be flipped. The one with the tritium dot (like the two tritium dots on the 100 meter setting of the rear sight) are the night sights. The other one is for daytime shooting. I own the PE90, which is the civilian version of the SG90 a.k.a. the Sturmgewehr 90 or SIG 550. The only difference between the two is the 3-shot burst and full-auto on the military version, that are obviously (in Europe) not available on the civilian version.

    The info on the Beowulf magazine is outdated. The RCMP has decreed that since this magazine is compatible with the 5.56 x 45 (.223) cartridge, it has been reclassified as prohibited.
    For those who have managed to send a man on the moon, prohibited means just that - prohibited, the same as silencers, folding knives that can be opened by spring pressure or gravity (wrist flick), tonfa (ba0n with a perpendicular handle), sarbacanes (blow guns).

    You guys get some awesome guns up there but the mag situation is a downer for sure.

      +Derek Cb Can't they only have 5 rounds for some reason? Anyway, what the hell is their reason behind that?

    • @christopherkonrad3125
      @christopherkonrad3125 8 лет назад

      The mag limit is intended to make it more difficult for anyone who would attempt a mass shooting, for example when an ISIS sympathizer tried to do some damage on parliament hill in 2014 he used a Winchester lever action instead of a semi auto rifle, sadly one guard was still killed. I try and see the logic in it, but It's still incredibly annoying to have my sks pinned at 5 rounds.

      ***** I don't see why there would be a mag limit because their weapon of choice usually seems to be a bomb.

    2:22 I don't know about canadian versions, but the swiss 550s have the elevation adjusment also at the rear. the front is just the night sight
    Also why did you put a PMAG in it? does it even feed?
