Excellent video! I am a lover of 550 series rifles since they first came to the states in the late 1980s. I have a police surplus SANS 551 and a U.S. SIG 551A1 and love them both. The early green enameled SIG 500's imported here are a thing of beauty to behold.
Bit of additional facts about the gun in Switzerland itself: Since any soldier after finishing military service can buy their rifle for 100 Swiss Francs (about 100 USD), MilSupr models of the SIG 550, called the STGW 90, can be found at almost any gun store for around 1000 Francs, since many soldiers buy their rifle and then just sell it to make a couple hundred bucks fast. This means that even if you weren't part of the military any swiss citizen can pick up a SIG 550 for a quarter of the asking price. Additionally, these rifles are extremely accurate without any kinds of modifications. Swiss soldiers must go to a range at least once a year and prove that they can reliably hit a target at 300 meters without any sights on their standard issue rifle. This accuracy and the familiarity that many shooters have with the gun also means that SIG 550s and their MilSurp counterparts are the most common rifles at shooting competitions in Switzerland. Even junior shooters start out using this rifle.
@@tombryant4518 Yeah no optics, my bad. They obviously have sights lol. It's not the iron sights that you see on most semi autos these days but a diopter.

Make no sense? Every gun law on the books is completely 100% logical. If I were to take my AR pistol with an arm brace, which is a tame and well-mannered tool of home defense, and affix it with a buttstock, it would suddenly break out of my safe, murder my whole family, and go on a killing spree the likes of which we've never seen. That's why affixing a buttstock is a felony with punishments more severe than for bashing my girlfriend's skull in. Or take for instance the suppressor. Luckily, here in my home state of Illinois we recognize the dangers of such a device. Don't be fooled by those who say the suppressor is a useful tool to keep those who are armed from losing their hearing, in reality the suppressor is a murderous beast that will take an ordinary gun and turn it into a demon that will silently kill child after child in the night. The most clear way to determine how dangerous a certain part of a gun is, is to examine how it's used in movies. Short barreled rifles, for example, are used in movies by gangsters and assassins. Suppressors are used by spies and assassins. Therefore. it's CLEAR that both of these items are evil, and need to banned for our own protection. After all, everything that comes from a movie actually happened in real life. I'm sure glad the government is here to protect me from myself. What ever would I do if I could just do as I see fit instead of having them up my ass telling me what is safe and isn't safe to possess.
