The "military" costume at the end was a cangaceiro outfit. They were nomadic bandits that roamed the Northeast arid interior (known as "sertão") in the late 19th and early 20th century. This region of Brazil is the most impoverished one, and in a form of "social banditry" against the government, many men and women decided to become cangaceiros, so outlaws. Today, they are most known in a good light, like Robin Hood kind of bandits, becoming part of the Northeast folklore and a symbol of cultural identity, despite the fact that they indeed pillaged cities back then and were feared among people. The most famous cangaceiro was Lampião, the mannequin was representing him, since you could see by the blind eye and glasses. The woman by his side represents Maria Bonita, his partner. They were a couple like Bonnie and Clyde.
once, some "cangaceiros" got paid by the gov to fight a rebel army know as the "coluna prestes". they took the money and, of course, they didn´t do the job. the gov wasn´t amused, but could do little, being the "sertão" a very harsh and big place.
Ir was a glory and sad story of Lampião and Maria Bonita... brazilian army chased they and ended up decapitating they, and putting they head into spikes (a time where brazilian army was as babarians as the bandits)
Up!

I loved Alex the seller. What an example of a charismatic human being
Yes!! Everyone, go to his instagram!! He really wants to boost it. He would be so happy if he got more followers
Those editing choices really convey the overwhelming sensation of a crowded beach were you're unlikely to just let be. And I'm with Steve here: it's everyone's right to go out and try to make money, but it does compromise the visitor's experience.
Detestei a Chapada Diamantina. Fui nessa de falarem muito... Volto não.
@@alessandracosta7114 ué, pq?
the "sertão" is not easy to travel by car. it´s very nice, but also very big and not very touristic. chapada diamantina is great, but i think the person gotta like to hike and have a lot of time. it is, also, kind of a big detour.
i hope one day, they do a "inside brazil". THEN they gonna see how vast brazil is.
Vale a pena.
up
Chega a incomodar.
I remembered when I went to Paraguay, people try to sell you. It bothered me a lot.
You must visit Jalapão, one of the most beautiful places in Brazil
Yes for sure
Bonito as well
Obrigada 😊
Quem quer tranquilidade vai a elas.
Brazilians are a very happy people
I am brazilian and I live in Brazil. I love Brazil: a country for everyone. Enjoy the trip.
Steve, when you're offered something you don't want and you want to politely decline, say "Não, obrigado" or "Não preciso amigo, valeu" The * Não * It makes a lot of difference and makes people less confused by your claim, The "valeu" It is an informal form of expression to say thank you, which can be used in these places quietly.
Not Steve starting to introduce the waiters and the one in white shirt was saying like "really good that (today) I'm formal!"
🤣🤣
Você é uma gata !
They should take a flight and visit Fernando de Noronha ❤
The guy wasn`t dancing setranejo, he was dancing Forro, the trademark rythm of northeastern Brazil. More specifically, he was dancing to Santanna O Cantador.
It’s full summer, right before Carnaval. People are on vacation. High high season!
Eles estavam dançando Forró! O Bloco de Carnaval estava cantando Frevos! Abraços para Vocês!
Also guys you must spend the carnival in State of Pernambuco specially in Olinda. The best place to spend the carnival and have an amazing experience about the culture, trust me!!
there's a saying in english that's "not my cup of tea".. in brazilian portuguese the similar is "not my kind of beach" or "não é minha praia" hahahah at 5:00 you realised that
The beach looks more packed because this is the high tide.
👋🇺🇸 !! I enjoy watching your videos in BRAZIL 🇧🇷!!! I’ve never been there, looks like a beautiful country. And you guys just so adorable together. Take care. 👍❤️❤️🥰
the guy was dancing forró And the band was playing frevo, typical of Pernambuco carnaval.
The guy was dancing XOTE. A genre related to forró. ;)
"Ivana do you wanna say anything about this (churrasco)"... I love it kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk morri 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😅 don't be shy Ivana, I would do exactly the same😋 - love guys ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Porto de Galinhas it's very famous place. Specially now, during high season it's fully packed. I also don't like busy beaches cause we can't not enjoy nature. But in BRazil there is beaches for everyone. You just have to look for it. I live in the cost and in my place i know some secret beaches that I love. Enjoy guys!
The guy dancing with the doll was dancing FORRÓ, which is a northeastern rhythm, while the band was playing FREVO, very traditional in the carnaval of Pernambuco state (where Porto de Galinhas is).
Also, the characters in "kinda pirate/military clothes" are Lampião and Maria Bonita, and long (real) story short, they fought against the oppression imposed by the landlords in kinda Robin Hood way. LOTS of history in those characters!
That's correct! LAMPIÃO (male) and MARIA BONITA (female) were part of a group of "cangaceiros" (bandits). He was the leader, compared sometimes to Pancho Villa. They were a sort of Bonnie and Clyde of the Sertão (Brazilian "outback"). LOL en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lampião. Ivana has a good intuition and is totally right: that type of music (FREVO) performed by that street band is the one played during carnival in the state of Pernambuco and surroundings (much less in the other regions).
Oh, i was there in porto de galinhas last week. Loved the video !! And by the way, the military figure you have seen is Lampião.
just like in english there are both words "pig" (for the animal) and "pork" (for the meat), "frango" is the word we use in portuguese for the chicken meat and "galinha/galo" for the chicken as an animal, a being
The guy with the doll was dancing forró and the trumpets were frevo.
The guy was dancing Forró and the band was playing Frevo.
Frevo is a Mix of Marches, Maxixe (Brazilian Tango), and Polka (The Bohemian dance).
The beaches of Rio de Janeiro are very good and very famous, even interncionally, the coast of São Paulo also has wonderful beaches, many of them very little known, but nothing compares to the beaches of the northeast!!! The beaches in the Northeast are incomparably the best in Brazil.
pernambucanos as they are called who born in pernambuco, and recifense, really friendly,,other part of north east as well.very friendly and happy people,no matter if they are poor, what matters is the spirit within
Perdoe me Recife .
These people by the sea are common on this type of beach throughout all the northeast. They are inviting you to eat at their restaurant. A minimum consumption to use the table is common and that's what they usually talk about. Its kind of what Alex was doing hahaha
Olinda and Recife have the biggest street carnaval in the world. In Recife the Carnaval start with the Galo da Madrugada in the saturday morning and goes all day with millions of people in the streets, after that in the sunday reccomend go to Olinda to see the Bonecos gigantes (giant dolls) and you are going to see many blocos de carnaval. In the night its good to go to Marco Zero, they also have some blocos de carnaval but they also have concerts.
U guys, best traveller couple EVER, not kidding.
nice to see you guys , thanks for update video , always healthy there INDONESIA melihat kalian semangattt
Guys I think Brazil is being good for you! Both look happy and more beautiful! No place in the world is perfect, but you look different in a good way. Have fun!
The guy dancing with the puppet was dancing "forró"
I was in Florianópolis last month and some beaches were as packed as this one. I guess this is pretty common during the high season. Good to see you made some new Brazilian friends. Muito bom!
the first guy dancing with the doll is “forró” nordeste music and the other band is “frevo” music from pernambuco carnaval
Woooow you guys are in Recife!!!
You MUST visit Instituto Ricardo Brennand and Oficia Francisco Brennand, they are the most amazing museums in Brazil, you’ll be mind blown! Great content keep it up 🙌
Alex is amazing, seems like a great guy and a great salesman. Desenrolado!
Ivana e Steve, muito bom!
Unbelievable beach....wow. Great drone shots and what a street party!!
good people meet good people
the vlog became a minidocumentary all of a sudden. i can appreciate the effort
i loved the pizza guy, Alexy
I believe that the biggest problem is arriving and staying right in front of the main entrance to Porto de Galinhas. Because if you walk towards Praia de Maracaípe, for example, everything becomes calmer. And anyone arrives and sits on the sand. For the front really is boring. The main issue is to get to know the general environment well first. After all, the beaches of the Northeast are very interconnected. Just walk a little and you will have more peaceful places. Let it serve as a tip. In addition to being in the high season and during the vacation period, close to Carnival, so even those of us who live in Recife don't go. Well, it gets crowded. But it is possible, yes, to have some peace of mind there. Just walk a little. Or if you really want peace, better stay in Carneiros and preferably on weekdays.
Wow, so crowded. Again, loving the drone shots!! Keep safe, healthy and happy.
Yeah, is the high season and carnival time 😁
⭐Ivana, you were 100% right about the street carnival music being regional: this is call marchinha, or classic carnival music
I'm from Pernambuco, but I also don't like Porto de Galinhas 'cause of this crowded-comercial beach. I think you'd like Pontal de Maracaípe, it's really close but totally different!
Brazil will surprise you everytime you go back been there four times C. U. may B in TORONTO
Okay, I think the beaches in the Northeast are wonderful, but during the Carnival period the tourist cities get very lively. At this very moment you can be sure that the beaches in Rio de Janeiro are very crowded and lively. Even in Ouro Preto the situation is different, because the carnival in Ouro Preto is very lively, because it is a university town with many young people. Once I saw a couple from São Paulo in Ouro Preto during the carnaval period and they said they went there to have a period of spiritual rest, but they didn't know that the carnaval in Ouro Preto is very animated and the city is very full, basically of young people!
Che!
I've never seen you guys so happy. This is the spirit of real Brasil.
the beach is really full on december to february
i love to mach my love friends, im. Brazilian womam, but i live in Florida USA, por longe time, but I'm very frustrated because, im not about Brasil. Thank you for give especially time, end open my eyes, about my Contriy, I'm Brasilian but i live in Florida USA💋♥️💯Thank
Vcs. irão amar o carnaval de Pernambuco é explendido.
Puro fedor de mijo e pessoas bebadas chatas.

Laughter.... I loved the "Obrigado,eu não falo Português".... when I'm on a beach I'll use it to dismiss the guys who offer the services.... I liked it!
The guy was dancing Forró, the band was playing Frevo.
Lugar lindo, animado e divertido. Muito bom!
I am glad you guys enjoyed our culture! Details will be followed after as you cannot know everything at once! Thanks for sharing 🎉❤
The music played by the band is Frevo. 14:49 minutes.
Tudo muito lindo... Vídeo perfeito... Parabéns... 👏😎🙂
I prefer a quiet beach. I was there ten years ago during the high season, and it was fine. Not anymore, I guess. At least the city is more manageable.
Tô curtindo de mais os vídeos.
Muito bom !🇧🇷
A recepção de turistas no Brasil é Boa
16:40 Se chamavam Cangaceiros.
Nice vídeo like aways!
Stay safe guys! 💗
Essa praia é incrível
He wasn't dancing sertanejo, he was dancing a variant of a music genre called forró
frevo is the music...olinda carnival is preferred
This region has a very long shore of beaches, so if you go a bit further you will get away from the biggest crowd. It's because most ppl prefer to be near where the bars and restaurants are, but believe me, the Northeast has still spots way more empty than this one.
Paradise ❤️🇧🇷
Thank you so much for showing Brazil to Brazilians and the world, you and Ivana are wonderful people!!
That Frevo was HYPE! Yay, Carnaval has arrived! 🎶🥳
Eu amo esse vídeo
Essa e uma praia maravilhosa ❤
Welcome to Porto. The guy with the puppet was dancing "forro". The music and the dance are very common in Pernambuco and Paraiba. You saw a small " bloco de rua" which is a street band that happens prior and during carnaval. They play " frevo" which we could dance with a small umbrella.
Looks amazing! I’m vlogging from Fortaleza 🇧🇷 now. I subbed.
LMAO, nice video, at the end was funny when you were joking about the food and stuff, ☺️
Have you ever tried the Baden Baden beer? Try the Baden Baden Golden beer. It's my favorite, not too biter, kind sweet. It's flavoured with a little bit of cinamon and berrys. It doesn't seems like It because of the name, but it's a Brazilian beer.
