Janapada Impu (ಜನಪದ ಇಂಪು) a series of Kannada Folk songs, is an attempt to present Janapada Songs in its simplest raw form without the use of any musical instruments.
The survival and growth of Kannada is intertwined with folk culture (Janapada). Therefore, preserving and nurturing the folk culture (Janapada) is as crucial as preserving and nurturing the language. In this Educational Series we present to you many Janapada songs which you can learn, hum along and sing.
We start the series with a very popular Kannada Folk song "Nimbiya Banada Myaagala". This is a folk song sung generally by a group of women while grinding raagi millet (Finger Millet) using a traditional stone grinder. The song depicts, women grinding millet, praying for God's help to make flour easily. The song is a reminder that even the most mundane tasks can be sacred. The song is beautiful, devotional, and reminds us that work can be worship. It also teaches that we must work hard, but the fruits of our labor belong to God.
Let us do our part in preserving the rich heritage & tradition of Janapada and rejoice the richness of our language.

ಓಲ್ಗಾದ ಸದ್ದಿಗೆ ಒದಗೋಳೆ
ಓಲ್ಗಾದ ಸದ್ದೀಗೆ ಒದಗೋಳೇ ಸರಸತಿಯೆ
ನಮ್ನಾಲಿಗೆ ತೊಡಿರ ಬಿಡಿಸವ್ವಾ || ನಿಂಬೀಯಾ ||
ಎಂಟೆಲೆ ಮಾವಿನ ದಂಟಾಗಿ ಇರುವೊಳೆ
ಗಂಟೆ ಸದ್ದೀಗೆ ಒದಗೋಳೆ
ಗಂಟೆ ಸದ್ದೀಗೆ ಒದಗೊಳೆ ಸರಸತಿಯೆ
